How long does stock battery last without engine on?
How long can i play my music for with the engine off without my battery going flat?
Anyone know roughly how long? |
Until it dies and not a minute longer!
Try it and let us know. |

You have to take some variables into account as excessive cold and excessive heat shorten battery life, what kind of head unit (old head unit should use less power than the new head unit), do you an aftermarket amplifier, and etc.

I left mine parked for 5 weeks while i was overseas on holiday.
The battery was fine and the car started on first crank of the starter motor. So my guesstimate is it can last longer than 5 weeks. The radio will automatically switch off after one hour , this is annoying at drive in movies because the start button has to be pressed every hour to keep the FM movie sound on. So the radio can be used for at least 3 hours and the battery still starts the car okay. |

Just have a pump handy, jam it up a few PSI if you notice the interior lights beginning to fade. In all seriousness, there are many variables involved here. Volume? After market speakers/subwoofer involved? Ambient temperature? Type of music? |

If you know the Amp-Hours of your battery, I think you can approximate it like this (assuming that since the Radio has a 15A fuse, it's only running at a max 10A, including all amplifiers, etc):
Time_To_Dead (hours) = Amp_Hours/10 I'm guessing it'll be a LONG time before your radio runs down your battery. Looking at google lots of these batteries are around the 75 Amp Hours range. So going off of this you'll have 7.5 Hours. Lots of assumptions here, but I'd feel safe guessing ~4 hours should be no problem. (I've applied engineering pessimism twice, but discounted any other systems that may need to be on to run the stereo ... which I don't think are much) |
