Scion or Toyota ?
There has been a lot of talk recently about this concept coming as a Scion.
Am i wrong to think that it would be a total failure if it were to happen. What do you guys think Toyota or Scion and please explain why. I am 100% for Toyota because of past history on sport cars and also global recognition. I am against Scion because, they're cheap, low performance, economical cars that are intended for young new drivers |
Lol again with the Toyota vs Scion. Say the car were to come out same price range and same performance that has been said so far BUT its got a Scion badge; and would more than likely be a Toyota where Scion isn't sold so it would be the same car just badged different for USA/Canada (or wherever else scion is sold). Is it then still a cheap low performance economical car if so then thats what you're calling it now? If Geo were still around and say they made a ultimate sport compact/sports car with cool looks and awsome performance for under or around $20k, people would not buy it because it was a Geo (probably including myself) even though it could compare with or beat other production sport cars (now remember this is just an example). So tell me if I'm wrong, but I could care less what it comes out as, yes I would PREFER a Toyota but doesn't matter either way in my eyes I just wish it was closer to release so we could have more info.

That would have been a lot easier. I'm probably going to get flamed for this but whatever... it guess it makes sense coming from a guy/girl who drives a 03 Hyundai Tiburon. |
Ok just say it, Toyota or Scion.
Saying "I don't care about the badge" is very unwelcome to the threat because there is no 3rd choice. Toyota FTW. |
I'm with the majority and say it's gotta be a Toyota or bust!

You asked more than one question so i answered em, there are like 20 threads on the subject, theres no point dwelling on it. we can discuss it more when we know for sure |
Poll please. With only 2 options.

Toyota please!
Family has driven Toyotas since i was little cant think of driving anything else even though they haven't offered anything fun for awhile. If FT68 doesn't deliver i would prolly lose all faith and get a subie. |
Just like what I said back then I'm on the driving experience not the name, But if I'm given choice hope its a Toyota. why? if this is the AE86 reborn it needs to be a Toyota to make it officially a retro remake. I saw how hard Toyota tried to promote scion to be a serious tuner platform, But still came out short. one thing made the AE86 a great car is its rich racing history road race & rally that happened due to Toyota European and Asian already strong racing background, to continue this long history I hope its Toyota.

@Ichi. :D
I know people would say that there should be 3 options, so the earlier post I said that "I don't care about the badge" is unwelcome to the threat, but well, I'm not the OP. I think 2JZ also want to do statistics on Toyota to Scion Ratio. |

+1 for me. But if its only Toyota or Scion, it will have to be Toyota for me |
Lexus!!!!
I kid, I kid. But if they offered a Lexus version (more expensive, nicer interior, more toys), I might well end up buying that. |
Admin, where are you? Add poll with 2 options please.
@encore, where is the answer? LOL |
Toyota.
|
Ergh.. Honestly what's the difference ? It's still basically a Toyota, am I right ? Well a car is a car the brand doesn't matter :)

You should prolly read the million page discussions and decide for your self. I think this thread is specifically, your choice and reason, as to not start another eruption but acquire a statistic. |
:iono:Sorrry, still new here Lol

Many people may not know that this is the successor to the famous AE-86 that was popularized in a animation called Initial-D. I myself own a AE-86 GTS. I own a gt4, a 4runner, and a celica. Never in my life have I bought honda or any other brand out there.
Toyota NEEDS a sports cars for young drivers like myself. Being the toyota guy that I am along with many fanatics out there who choose not raise a voice, if FT-86 turns into a Scion FR-S, I can almost guarantee certainty that 70% of the people who were interested in it in the past will NOT buy it simply because it's a not a toyota! The point I'm trying to emphasize is I will not buy this car under a scion because I hate scion. The higher ups who are making this decision believe their good intentions will lead to good things but this is the furthest from the truth. It's been too long since I've waited for a toyota RWD and to hear that such a beautiful car made by toyobaru to become a scion brings a tear to my eye. I could simply just take out the badge and put a toyota one but that's not the point. This car deserves to be a toyota. This car needs to be a toyota. This car BETTER be a toyota. If it isn't, it'll end up like those good sports car that never became popular because the parent company decided to sell it under a new brand name. I know my opinion doesn't matter but I can speak for all the toyota freaks out there. We are not buying this because of the power. We are not buying this because of the design. We are buying this because this is to remind us what toyota was back in the day when they were making sport cars like Supras and MR2s. And because it's a RWD with over 160HP+. Since it's over 200, I'm even more excited. my 2 cents... a child's perspective time for.......inception |
It would be nice if it was a Toyota but if it is what it's suppose to be, I'm fine either way.
|
If it is anything like it is in GT5, I don't give a damn if it's branded a Kia. Car rocks..
