OpenFlash Tablet: Multiple Data Log files!

Hi guys,
Our development team never rests! This udpate should be released to the public sometime this week. And I know it's something that many of you guys have been begging for. Instead of only being able to store 1 datalog file on the OFT at a time, you will be able to store as many as you want (with a total memory limit of 60min). You will also be able to name each run after you save it. Which is great for tuners/racers since it's easy to keep track of results from individual dyno runs or dragstrip runs/track sessions:

http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...6/IMG_0592.jpg

A new version of OpenFlash Manager will be released as well which will allow you to manage (view, export to .CSV and delete) all the datalog files saved on your OFT:
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...%20datalog.jpg

As always, you will be able to use the exported .CSV files for 3rd party datalog viewers such as the excellent datazap.me:

Cheers,
shiv

And the new Openflash manager looks sick!

Now all would be good if I could just buy an oft :|

Nice!

Could the maximum log size be increased by storing the log in a binary encoding, and/or with a fast compression like LZ4?

oh my! another update that i always wanted to for.

thanks

Apparently buying car parts and looking at oem parts from Japan all day is just fine with her, but when I said something about getting an Xbox one she coiuldnt find any justification for that. Meh. Car parts it is.

Sorry to derail the thread a little!

uh, netflix?

back on topic now!

Can't wait, I haven't done any datalogs because of the 1 run limit before...now I feel like I'll do a bunch just cause I can haha

Nardi330 03-10-2015 08:06 PM

AWESOME~~!!!

Bader 03-11-2015 06:11 AM

Great news. I have been waiting for this feature. Thank you very much OFT team. This will make my logging days much easier and faster.

Shiv you are DA man

Shiv@Openflash 03-11-2015 05:37 PM

Hi guys,
We have increased the max number of stored files from 10 to 20. Max time duration for each log is approx 20 minutes. So we are taking nearly 400 minutes of on-board data storage! We have also added a [space] button for naming the data files.

This update should be released to the public by Friday just in time for the weekend ;)

keen as 03-11-2015 07:45 PM

Many thanks for a great update.
And may I ask again for option of temperature in Degrees Celcius?

I haven't used or updated my oft in months, but now that spring is rolling around, I think I'll update and perform a checkup. It's nice to be able to know that everything is running right, instead of hoping everything is. Thanks for the updates

Silver Ignition 03-13-2015 02:12 PM

@Shiv@Openflash

Reading another thread gave me an idea for your next update...maybe add an autopatic pedal dance function that you can toggle on and off using the OFT? FT86Speedfactory sells a guy that goes in there but it takes away the OBD2 port for datalogging

if you could figure it out

Just to clarify, does that mean that OFT will not be able to record data past 20 minutes of driving time without needing to log a separate file?

That should be doable. Maybe in the next update :)

This is correct

tracerit 03-14-2015 10:20 PM

If I were to log past the 20 minute limit, will it auto create a new log or will it stop after 20minute on the first one?

I personally would've preferred a setup of 10 40-minute logs over the 20 20-minute logs. I suppose there's good reasoning to make it short though, I logged a 60-90 minute drive from work home this morning and it came out garbled.

Nardi330 03-16-2015 01:24 AM

Has the update been released yet?

thanks.

The new software updates should be available late tonight via auto update. But a new version of the user software will also be needed in order to manage the multiple data log files format. This should be available and ready to download from our website on Tuesday.

got the new OFT update through OpenFlash Manaager but no OFM program update yet. Looks like only my first log (of two) are downloadable, my second log is still sitting there, hopefully.

Yes, the other logs should still be there. I'll be back on the office on Wednesday (plane doesn't land until Tues night). Once I'm back, I'll quickly test the new version of OpenFlash Manager and post it up for everyone to download. I have it right here on my desktop but I really don't want to post anything up until I personally test it :)

if OFM only downloaded the first log, and there are no way to manage the multiple logs on the OFT, does that mean until a new OFM is released, i'll only be able to download the same first log over and over and not any of the new logs?

I have not tested the new multi-log file firmware update with the old single-log file OFM. So i cannot be certain if the old OFM will only pull up the first or last log stored on the OFT. If I had to guess, I'd say it will store the first log in memory. But when the OFM is released (probably late tomorrow night/early wednesday), you should be able to recover all of the logs you have saved on the OFT.

Is there an updated template file for this yet? I'm able to save multiple files, but the save prompts don't come up as text just as #s.

Ex: Instead of saying "Would you like to save this datalog?" It would just come up as "6034".

You shouldn't need an updated template. At least I didn't when I was beta testing the new update. But I'll know for sure once I get back to the mainland tomorrow night. I'll update this thread accordingly.

Looks like a new template file is required after all. I'll be posted it online shortly. All it does is replace those numerical messages with actual English. I'll also go ahead and put the new user software online as well. Looks like I won't be back in CA until Wed night so I don't want to keep you guys waiting that long :)

Hell yeeeaah!

Great past couple updates, can't wait to see what else you guys have up your sleeves O.o

Shiv@Openflash 03-17-2015 05:13 PM

New OpenFlash Manager (v1.18) and new Template File (FRS Template File 6) are now available for download: http://openflashtablet.com/Automotiv...ads/index.html

The new version of OFM will now allow you to manage (delete and export) multiple data log files. The new Template file will give you new never-seen-before messages like:

"Do you want to save this new Data Log file?"
"Saving Data Log file. Please do not interrupt this process"
"File storage limit reached. Please delete at least one file using OpenFlash Manager"

;)

I'm having some problems with the new update. When I click on the logs I get an error message. See the screenshot. I have updated the template as well. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately I won't be able to do anything until I get back to the mainland tomorrow night. I have no access to an OFT or a FRS here in Hawaii :)

What happens when you select continue? Does it crash?

One thing I recommend doing is deleting your entire Openflash folder and running the new installer from scratch. Some have had problem with updating old files to new files. So a fresh install usually solves most problems.

zc06_kisstherain 03-17-2015 10:53 PM

I havent used multiple log saving functions yet
but mine works fine

When I click continue nothing happens and I'm able to export the log but the CSV file is pretty much empty. I will try to install it on a different PC tomorrow and will post my findings.

It worked with the old log but once I added a new one then it started crashing.

If you could, go to debugging and create a debugging file. Do this right after you run into this error message. And email it to me at shiv@openflashperformance.com. I can look at it and should be able to see what is going on.
