Happy New FR-S Release 1.0 Owner

I know a couple people at work with a FR-S and I always liked them and finally decided the pull the trigger on one. Picked it up on Saturday and put a coat of wax on it today since it was a nice warm day in Southern Maryland. I love the color yellow and had to go with this one. Really fun to drive. I look forward to reading a lot of the post on this forum.

nice!, what mods you planning on doing?

MarcFr-s 03-09-2015 01:41 AM

Saw one in a parking lot, does look good! Are those windows tinted already? I would do two more things to go from looking good to looking amazing, some nice wheels and a little drop. Congrats!!

tennisfreak 03-09-2015 11:51 AM

Saw one Saturday at the dealer and it was gorgeous, congrats!

The one at my dealer was auto :( plus they wanted $33.5k for it :confused0068:

They already are dropped on TRD lowering springs. The TRD rims really add to the car though.

jflogerzi 03-09-2015 12:24 PM

I agree some nice rims is all you need to really to complete the package.

LOL I've always found these funny

"Car looks great! Add a drop"

"Car is already on lowering springs..."

"Well then..."

Turbo95eg6 03-09-2015 01:49 PM

Well if you like the color yellow, it's probably the car for you. To be honest I couldn't do it.

Rampage 03-09-2015 02:10 PM

Nice looking car. Congratz!

Tcoat 03-09-2015 02:24 PM

At least op will not lost the sight of the car in the parking lot

Braces 03-09-2015 04:15 PM

I actually like the yellow .... just not the price.

Congrats. Great looking car.

Felix7007 03-09-2015 04:25 PM

I asked the dealer if I could buy the wing assembly from their parts department. (Wing and fender winglets). Said I couldn't...

Caspeed 03-09-2015 04:33 PM

Welcome aboard. See link from Tcoat.

it actually looks like the dealer forgot to remove the front spring spacers from the car. They add that to avoid hitting the lip when customers test drive the car. OP needs to ask them to remove them...

Honestly...i'm glad they only sell the parts from the RS1 by VIN. It makes the car ACTUALLY limited edition know what I mean? ;)

You need a vin number to buy any of the R.S. parts. Can probably find knock off at a fraction of the price (the real stuff is expensive) if you search hard enough though.

Jertronic 03-09-2015 06:31 PM

Congrats and enjoy..... Good looking package

Windows are not tinted. That is first on my list. Wheels is second and I will look around the forum to see were the best place to look for wheels is. I have always been a Mustang owner and lowered each car but had to purchase the lowering kit. I know this car came with TRD lowering springs and I don't know enough about this car yet if I can lower with the springs that are already on or if I need to purchase something else. I agree the front needs to be lowered.

Right now just window tint (not a mod) and lowering the car just a tad. Eventually change the wheels. I will need to read what other members have done as far as staggering or going wider. This car is a learning process for me as I have never owned one. It sure is fun to drive too.

I will call and ask about the spring spacers. The back sits fine but the front seems high to me.

Read a lot and research carefully. Look into axle failures as a result of lowering. Also read up on increased understeer with staggered sizes. I am not advising you of what to do or not to do just hoping you will make informed decisions so you have no regrets (and wasted $$$$).

Thanks for the heads up. I will do a lot of reading before I make any decision. I have plenty of time and in no rush to change anything right now.

Yeah mine was the same way too. I asked them about it and they thought I was crazy because they looked at the one other RS1 on the lot and said it was the same height in the front. Before I left the dealer I was digging through the paperwork in the glovebox and there was a big red paper that said REMOVE SPRING SPACERS AFTER CUSTOMER PURCHASES THE VEHICLE (or something like that lol).

When I showed the service manager all he said was "oh..." LMAO

Loetke 03-10-2015 12:46 AM

Man, now you guys have me wondering about mine. In pretty sure they removed it but now I'm paranoid. What do I look for?

On mine it was a big chunk of red plastic that was in between the coil held on by zip ties haha

Even the tech was like WTF!? LOL

Knappyhead 03-13-2015 10:58 PM

Took the car back to Toyota today with the paper that was in the glovebox that states to make sure the spring spacers are removed before delivery. They took the car back and they noticed the spacers were there. They told me it was not part of the delivery checklist they have so they did not know to look for the spacers. They said this was the first time they had to remove spacers. What I don't understand is someone put the notice in the glovebox that the spacers needed to be removed so wonder how it was missed. Just glad it is completed now.

Crazypinoy9 03-13-2015 11:58 PM

now you can enjoy your ride the way it's supposed to look and feel ;)

Glad it worked out!
