$11,000 Fr-S!?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Scion-FR-S-S...US_Cars_Trucks
Ok, sure it's automatic and that's a turn off. But "Warranty in place" vehicle has low miles, too. Are we really at this price point already? Glad I only paid $21k after all taxes, licensing, add-on warranties and gap |

Salvage/rebuilt title.
I didn't even click on the link, someone will check the VIN and confirm. Edit: I'm wrong, looks sketchy being listed at a bunch of different dealerships... http://www.toyotaofmelbourne.com/use...ZNAA10D2708805 http://www.garyyeomansford.com/used-...ZNAA10D2708805 http://www.usedcarsgroup.com/used-20...znaa10d2708805 http://www.jaxfiatusedcars.com/used-...ZNAA10D2708805 http://www.fiatusaofdaytonabeach.com...6d7ce592f1.htm http://autos.trib.com/search/make-sc...ZNAA10D2708805 http://autos.nytimes.com/15229-JF1ZN...gOverview.aspx http://autos.rapidcityjournal.com/se...ZNAA10D2708805 http://autos.magicvalley.com/search/...ZNAA10D2708805 http://www.daytonaautomall.com/inven...naa10d2708805/ http://www.daytonadodgechrysler.net/...b053e853a5.htm Edit: I'm dumb, looks like it was a demo car, sold at 177 miles, serviced at 4k and traded in at 12k. http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...&partner=DON_0 |
*reserve not met.
That's just the starting bid. |

Is this real life?

Worth noting all the dealerships I link want something like $22k, expect the reserve to be $20k.
|
my anus hurts
|
i remember my first time using eBay
|
If you just check Cars.com for used, there is a 2013 BRZ, Manual with 6500 miles for $17K. (NOT Ebay)
|
Price for this car at the stealership is $21990.
|
ok, so A) Not my first time using Ebay. B) I used the claim system at work to verify title is clean. C) It's being sold by a dodge dealer, but reserve is not met which I knew.
Yes it's real life, no I am not trolling, yes it is a talking point, and yes I already own a FRS which I paid less than 20k for before taxes and dealer add-ons. Point of my question is surprise that "you" can now purchase vehicles for under 18k fairly commonly nationwide. Even for a Niche vehicle, $10 - $15k (depending on when you bought in 2013) seems to be a large depreciation for only a 2 years. |
Your point is still invalid, the FRS(!?) you listed is not being sold for 11K.
Let the thread die, suck it up and move on. |
If you look at the bid history, the starting price was $1.

they need to stop making this car now

Watch out, there was a big flood in Daytona last September, never know.

Some people would KILL for depreciation like that. If you accept the numbers above at 3 years we are looking at 69% of the value is retained (only two months away from confirming that), that's absurdly good for a sports car. http://www.kbb.com/new-cars/best-res...le-sports-car/ And scraping the bottom of the barrel, there are cars out there that drop 30% in one year (although the timing of this article probably has an impact) http://www.dailyfinance.com/photos/n...#!slide=982011 Call my numbers bogus, lets pretend it takes $30k to buy this thing and your down to $18k, you're still at 60% compared to the Camaro's 56% in the link above. Maybe I'm crazy but the reality is it's not as bad as it could be and actually quite good if you're expectations are set conservatively. |
I rather buy one with hail storm damage for $14-15k.
Good track car right there... |

This helps me. So thank you for this. I'm ignorant, not stupid, and all too often people seem to think them the same thing. I suppose I didn't take into account the market factors. Again thank you. |
