WOOOOOOOOOO 86EXPOOOOOOOO!!!

R2RO 03-03-2015 12:19 AM

I went to the first 86 EXPO back in las vegas, really enjoyed the event. Great memories and people. That being said I wouldn't mind seeing the 86 EXPO 3 somewhere on the west coast since it was back east last year.
1. May 30, 2015 or June 6, 2015? (Random dates when the weather should be good)
2. Fontana, CA or Rosamond, CA
3. Autoclub speedway (Great for auto X and a meet and greet), or Willow Springs raceway (Great for track day with everyone, and meet with fellow members)

swarb 03-03-2015 12:22 AM

1. Date- summer, after 4th of July and before labor day 9/7
2. Location- Near a track or some nice roads, affordable lodging
3. Venue- Maybe something with 86cup? Maybe we can rent the track the other day they aren't racing?
7/11/2015 Streets of Willow Springs Night! - Speed Ventures
8/8/2015 Willow Springs International Raceway - eXtreme Speed

I do like Cali. I have A LOT of friends in Cali (mostly in SoCal)... but issue with Cali is there are enough 86/BRZ events over there. FT86Nation and famous 86Fest. Don't get me wrong, would love to have it in Cali... but Cali isn't in my list.

The dream scenario for me would be at COTA.

-Nice and warm/sunny.
-Central location
-Most of us I'm sure are dying to see the track

Not sure if it would be a viable option for this year though as it's already March

Dude, I would love too... but lets face it, it won't be cheap for both us event coordinator and ppl would want to race there.

...but someday we might

kanundrum 03-03-2015 12:54 AM

Can I come?

Denver. Theres a track here thats fairly close (http://highplainsraceway.com/), Mountain cruises are always fun, its in a fairly central location.

finch1750 03-03-2015 02:44 AM

1) July-Sept
2) Las Vegas
3) Not sure, but need a bigger meet site than the Toyota dealer from 2013

I think Vegas should be used as the West Coast location. Vegas draws a big crowd because it is Vegas and has so much to do. Just look at the other car clubs that host large events in LV (Supras In Vegas, SubieInvasion, etc). The cruise was fun and autox was cheap and a good venue/arrangement as well.

Based purely on geographic convenience for the majority of people on the Owner's World Map thread someplace around Cincinnati or Indianapolis would probably be a good choice.

It is the crossroads of america after all!

BlackMonarch 03-03-2015 09:15 AM

I'd appreciate that. I see all this cool shit going on on the coasts, and the middle just kind of gets left out.

Pbrown 03-03-2015 09:41 AM

Toronto and area

Toronto Canada
June 12-14 Same weekend as Molson Indy. Shannonvile Motor speedway is an hour away. You'll probably have 150+ FRS in attendance. Also to my American friends, your dollar is now worth 1.25 Canadian. you'll live like Kings and queens.

Second choice would be Loudan New Hampshire at the speedway. Close to Boston, New York, Montreal and Ottawa. With fantastic roads around it for a cruise.

kanundrum 03-03-2015 09:45 AM

My Idea
1. July thru Sept
2. North Carolina
3. NCCAR Track (Autox/Full Track) Venue for those wanting one or the other

Won't likely get a hotel room anyplace near Toronto on that weekend though.

We should organize four independent events and live-stream them to one another throughout our countries. East Coast, Midwest, West-Coast, and then Americas' Hat also having it's own meets.

Not everybody is shown by any stretch but the map on the attached thread does show a pretty good representation of the geographical groupings.

Ddreder 03-03-2015 10:03 AM

I wish I lived closer to the areas that you guys will probably have this. The only close major city is Seattle. If it was there it would probably alienate a lot of people. Maybe in a year or two ill try and make it down to vegas lol

Unfortunately the map shows scatter but not density in a major metro area.

Exactly. Which was why I thought some locations that are relatively central to the scatter pattern may have the highest impact.
Also tried to figure what was more central to the mid to northern locations because in reality the more southern locals such as Texas, California and Florida can pretty much have meets whenever they want. Those of us that are restricted to a few good months a year should get a crack at a big one.

ptuning 03-03-2015 10:51 AM

Hi there,

We're definitely for something nearby, so that we can give you guys our full support. We enjoyed 86expo last year and we have a large community base here that will attend this event. From MR.C's suggestion the event at NCCAR would be fun for everyone with our Platform, a half track, half Autocross event will give people the experience of both and keep down the cost. Not Many people will pay $100+ dollars for a day at willow springs, but $40 to 50$ to run on a track with some Autox added to the mix, it's something that we'll all enjoy. The location is also near beaches, and many other scenic routes for cruises, many places to stay that wont break into your bank if you're traveling in from another area.

Here is our suggestion:

1. July thru Sept
2. North Carolina
3. NCCAR Track Circuit Cross! AutoX or Track Event.

Thank you,

-PTUNING

P.S. We'll be sure to send a representative, if another location is chosen and is too far away from us.

ichitaka05 03-03-2015 11:30 AM

All the reply have been pretty good. Thank you

Canada would be fun... but don't want to do it around same time as other event (due to price & reservation go high). BUT I do like the idea of Canada.

NCCAR in NC do sound great... it's one of my list for sure.

Mrc@ptuning 03-03-2015 11:37 AM

I second NCCAR. Awesome roadcourse for time trial runs/autox:

1. July thru Sept
2. North Carolina
3. NCCAR Track (Autox/Full Track)

Going off of this information, we should have the meets in:

Indianapolis
Portland, OR
Somewhere in southern Georgia for the TX and FL folks.

A portland one should have a lot of cars. I might even be able to swing that trip and just sleep in my car.. lol

I live in New Jersey, I loved driving down to PTuning last year for the 86Expo. I just hope it stays close to the East Coast. my suggestion would be staying in the Virginia/North Carolina Region.

CrispyCheddar 03-03-2015 05:32 PM

Im gonna start with: I did not make it to the expo last year or the previous, simply because I never had it until this year. So I hope I can still share my thoughts

Time wise, North America's summer season would be really good and is mostly desired from the posts that I have read so far. Obviously a date that does not interfere with another big event.

As far as location, a scenic are would be nice. We don't just want to see our cars parked in spots all day. A cruise in coastal highways(West, MAYBE east coast) canyons(Arizona-ISH), or a mountainside(Mid-West, or somewhere along those lines) would be nice (note it would probably be a gigantic caravan of 86's)

With the Venue, somewhere where it would be possible to track and Autox. I don't know much about tracks and venues like that in this region, but I am sure someone will be able to figure that out.

TL; DR:
1. June/July/Aug
2. freaking any touristy area (I mean think of all the sexy car pics you all can take)
3. Fuck if I know

Id be down to drive anywhere, MAYBE anytime
Cheers peeps

CAMBAM_6 03-04-2015 11:04 AM

Bring it back to Vegas just like '13. It was on my birthday and I was in Vegas lol
PERFECT!!! :happyanim::w00t:
1. June 13th (Saturday)
2. Las Vegas
3. Toyota/Scion Dealership (or a new location)

FRSupra 03-04-2015 09:42 PM

86EXPO 2014, I remember that day. It was about 4000 degrees hotter than the surface of the sun.

Hey ichitaka, an idea for the next expo, at some point have the cars grouped together by color, or maybe have everyone squeeze the cars in for a giant group photo and have everyone standing by their car, camera on elevated surface. Just some thoughts.

It's kinda funny that, some ppl didn't come to the event cuz it was going to "rain" that day, but it was the "hottest" day that month lol

Anyways, yeah group pic w color coordinated would be cool

Rumor Alert:

You didn't hear it from me. 86 Expo will be very different this year. A whole new setup and look is coming. Details will be dropped near the end of March. ;)

Teseo 03-06-2015 12:06 PM

Official vendors will come?
I'd like Florida cuz Daytona, beach is near etc.

HunterGreene 03-06-2015 12:12 PM

With all this talk about "Geographic centrality" I'm surprised that Chicago hasn't been suggested.

That said, I am in the camp that thinks we should do a "central" 86Fest this year, Chicago, Indianapolis, possibly even St. Louis. All of these places have great driving venues and plenty to do.

Time should definitely be somewhere between June and the end of August.

stevesnj 03-06-2015 12:31 PM

Geographical center of the lower 48, near Lebanon, Kansas

My vote is for anything but St. Louis, and I live real real close. Too much national attention lately, and I don't think it would be the safest choice for our vehicles.
