Thinking about buying this

http://plate-flipper.com/usa/

Saw this on facebook and I'm actually think I might get one. What do others think of it?

Haha wtf, I've always wondered where I can get something like that after watching a movie where some guy was running away from the cops and he just flip a switch and it changes his plate.. but honestly, for that price, such a total rip off. There's many useful benefits for this... :p

I didn't do too much digging but it appears that their competitor is selling his/her business. Leaving no competition so they can charge Whatever they want.

That's just asking for trouble...

What kind of crime to you plan on committing, besides having an illegal tag on your car?

Turbo95eg6 03-01-2015 11:53 AM

OP doesn't seem too bright.

LOL fawking awesome.

I had thought about this before to avoid paying the ridiculous tolls.

Not sure I'd ever actually do it though.

It would be cool to have your regular license plate on one side and custom decorative one on the other for shows or whatever.

Wasn't based in Japan; however, I had a fellow service member say these were pretty common in that country. Doing a Google search just now didn't give many hits at all but yeah... Only useful for speed cameras and then after a while they'll probably catch on and just view CCTV to figure out what the plate was before it was flipped. Then you're grabbing your ankles...

Only people with an excess of money would buy this anyways.

Yea I think it would be great for tolls. But a friend of mine in north jersey said he blows the state tolls every time and the cameras are fake. He said he has never gotten a ticket before. Actually now that I'm thinking about it I didn't have change the one day and blew a toll and never got a ticket

As an elite international secret agent, i find this product very helpful in my day-to-day life.

many years ago me and a friend had a similar idea but we thought it would be better to use a piece of privacy glass as a plate cover. A quick search and I found this:

It is normally opaque, and you have to add current to make it clear. This could be a negative or a positive. You could draw attention by having no visible plate while the car is parked. Or if you are worried about being tracked in a database by those cop cars with the tag cameras on them, this will keep them from logging your car. As far as I know it is not illegal to not have a visible tag in a private parking lot. But if their system alerts them or they see that no tag is visible, they may just park and wait for you to come back. I don't know how much current it takes to keep it clear, so it could kill your battery after X amount of time, but I am mostly beyond doing this at this point in my life. If I had a lot of traffic cameras or toll roads I might still consider it.

OP is foolish blowing his Mossad cover. No hummus for you!

There was an article in the local news a few years ago about a guy who was pulled over on our express toll road trying to cheat the camera with a cord operated mechanical front plate flipper.

I was caught on a red light camera at the same intersection last year twice in 7 days last year. Both times a fraction of a second past the red and at that time I was really sick with pneumonia, coughing and gagging. End result, two $320 fines which I paid without argument. The camera evidence is of the rear plate and I had recently installed bright LED plate lights. That was a lesson learned. Dirty plates, dark plate covers etc would have gotten away with it. On the bright side there is no conviction since they cant prove who was driving the car.

Wish it was fake here in Cali.. I had to use my GPS last year to go home since I didn't know where I was. The GPS took me down the toll lanes without me not knowing since I thought it would avoid those lanes for me.. guess not. So few weeks later, got a bill for like $70.. called them and said I didn't know I was on the toll lane and they helped me reduced it to around $50.. lol lesson learned

The price on the US website is crazy. Fair price for this is $150 at most. Made in China anyway...
