GT 86 Car Club Brisbane, Australia?

Just thought so many people here in Australia just love this car, any chance we can put together an official GT86 car club here in Brisbane, across Australia maybe.

I don't know whats really involved or how we could start but I thought this Forum would be a great start. Maybe as everyone takes delivery of there cars we could start with meet ups, share ideas, drive days.

Even once a year each State could host a National meet.

What do you think?

We can either hang out here or someone will have to start a dedicated australian 86 forum... I'd do it but I really don't have the time and this place seems okay for now.

I agree, if the club get up we could have a dedicated website.

I like it....

There's already 3-4 people trying to do this (they spam this forum a lot). I suggest we just stick with this one. Maybe we can get some extra sub forums for Australia?

70NYD 06-10-2012 09:18 AM

There are a few other forums already. I haven't dwelled, as this was the 1st, through this forum I have spend many hours/days reading, talking, arguing and learning. So I am loyal to ft86club. If We could get a deeper sub forum in here, that would be awesome

pr0j 06-10-2012 09:26 AM

I like the atmosphere here but an actual Brisbane 86Club would be cool. Count me in :)

Maybe they could make us a subforum here if we ask really nicely.

70NYD 06-10-2012 09:37 AM

alright i will send a msg off to moderators, see how it turns out, let you all know over the next few days.
we cant ask for just brisbane, it would have to be
regional forums
.australia / new zeland
..qld
..nsw
..vic
..nt
..sa
..wa
..nz south
..nz north
..forsale
hows that sound?
i mean that would be for organising meets and such
the posts regarding what you have done to the car, pics, questions etc should all go to the current forums and threads i think

sounds good guys. maybe make a facebook page too. quite easy for members to join it and post content. quite communial too.

GaN-MaN 06-10-2012 03:56 PM

u guys could just head to the gt86[dot]com[dot]au forums perhaps?

Nardi330 06-10-2012 04:08 PM

I dunno. I like it here. Everything are in 1 place and there will be tons of info from the US guys.

There are already a few Aussie 86 forums but none of them seems to have a lot of participation. Also there are sub forums on established Toyota forums as well.

If possible I'd prefer to just stay here as we are all here already.

GaN-MaN 06-10-2012 04:35 PM

yeah this seems to be the best place to go for anything FR-S/86/BRZ at the moment but i still enjoy the local forum.

no harm in being a part of both. haha.

Sounds Great!

Staticfrost 06-10-2012 06:59 PM

Lol yeah I spam it :).
I don't like the chances of a sub forum inside a sub forum.

Nardi330 06-10-2012 07:47 PM

Maybe we can sticky a thread for each state if sub sub forums are not approved.

We should have our moderator for this section!!

I actually subscribed to you and Facebook and you seem to be doing a good job there. Thx

70NYD 06-10-2012 07:55 PM

I sent a email to hachi, see what he says. I am not sure if vBuliten can go down that many levels to begin with
If not, Nardi, that was my next train of thought :)

personally I like this Idea. all we need is a QLD specific section and we have our own little club

Cheers, hoping for a good response

Good stuff tony

70NYD 06-11-2012 01:16 AM

Iv been thinking of doing it for a few weeks now, you people just pushed my ass in to gear hehe

GaN-MaN 06-11-2012 03:19 AM

I think having a sub sub forum is the way to go. If it was stickied for each State here it'd seem like all the events happening in so called state will be lost within the thread. Although i think a sub sub forum would be a lil messy.

Don't exactly want to be scanning through a thread to look for what's happening when and where especially with the amount of replies you'd get from holding an event.

Nardi330 06-11-2012 03:47 AM

For a US based Golf forum I used to hang around, they had an Aussie sub forum and within that 1 sub forum for events and 1 sub forum for classified. I think it works pretty well.

1 sub forum for each state can be messy....

Beware the pull of the car club!

I've been in so many over the years, and they've all ended in tears for one reason or another. Usually because someone takes it way more seriously than everyone else and thinks a title like 'President' is actually some sort of real thing that puts them above other mere mortals they encounter in day to day life and they strive to get it, piss everyone else off in the process, and everyone forgets why they joined in the first place, ie: for the cars.

Hey, I'm not bitter! :)

I'd suggest a forum -- and this one could be as good as any -- where folks arrange drives in their local areas, BBQs, nice casual stuff. It's when you start handing around titles, and need to pay insurance, and take fees, etc, etc, etc, that things start going pera-shaped and away from what a car club is about.

Just my 2c :thanks:
