ROUGH AROUND 2K RPM

2015 FRS WITH ABOUT 1750 MILES. I WAS WARMING UP MY CAR THE OTHER DAY AND NOTICE THAT AROUND 2K RPM THE CAR WILL FEEL LIKE ITS MISFIRING. WHILE IDLING THE MOTOR AT AROUND THE RPM IT RUN ROUGH, MAKES ME CONCERN. WILL BE BRINGING IT IN SOON TO DEALER, JUST WANT TO HEAR FROM OTHERS.

connorlug 02-25-2015 10:14 PM

DID YOU START IT COLD? THESE CARS WILL RUN A LITTLE ROUGH WHEN THEY'RE COLD

De-bounce 02-25-2015 10:24 PM

IF ITS A COLD START, ITS NORMAL. I WOULDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT AS LONG AS YOU DIDN'T GET ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.

BRZnut 02-25-2015 11:32 PM

Why are we yelling? Are you guys outside?? Mine does the same since new. On cold starts in sub-freezing weather, the engine will make a pop sound during the first 45 seconds and idle very rough.

IT IS FINE. NORMAL COLD START.

NEXT TIME WHILE IN YOUR CAR, REV THE RPM UP TO 2K AND SEE IF THERE A FLUTTER OR BREAK UP IN RPM. SLOWLY RUN THE RPM UP, SHOULD BE SMOOTH THROUGH ALL RPM. WHERE TO MINES AROUND 2K IT STARTS BREAKING UP AND CLEARS BACK UP AT HIGHER RPM. SOFTWARE UPDATE OR MISFIRE... BUT THERE NO CODES

YELLING TO GET OVER THE NOISE OF ROUGH IDLE FROM THE COLD START. (IF THAT IS WHAT IT IS SINCE I CAN NOT POSSIBLY DIAGNOSE AN ISSUE FROM A COUPLE OF SENTENCES ON A FORUM)

LOL IM NOT YELLING THIS IS JUST DEFAULT. DIDNT KNOW THAT USING CAP LETTERS, CAN HURT FEELINGS. AND THIS IS NOT A COLD START ISSUE. YOU MANUALY NEED TO REV THE UP THE RPM AND CHECK FOR BREAK UP THROUGHT THE RPM. JUST NOT KNOWING THE REASON ITS DOING THIS JUST BUGS ME BECAUSE MAY NOT KNOW WHAT IS TO COME OVER TIME.

Caps is generally reserved for yelling and it perturbs some people (personally I could care less except that is slightly harder to read).Like you said in you first post it needs to go in and be checked. Anybody that tries to diagnose over the internet is guessing at best and could get you all worked up with horrid scenarios when it is really a 5 minute fix (or not broke in the first place).

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE. THE INTERNET IS A MORE RELIABLE SOURCE FOR DIAGNOSING YOUR FR-S PROBLEMS THAN USING THE WARRANTY WHICH COMES WHEN YOU BUY THE CAR AND HAVING PROFESSIONAL TRAINED TECHNICIANS LOOK OVER YOU CAR.

These?

FYI, I googled "site:www.ft86club.com 2000 rpm" to find these.

strat61caster 02-26-2015 03:56 PM

COLGATE, ARE YOU EXPERIENCING THIS WHEN THE CAR IS UP TO TEMPERATURE AS WELL? WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT YOUR DESTINATION DOES THE PROBLEM PERSIST?

IT IS TOTALLY NORMAL TO HAVE SOME WEIRD CHARACTERISTICS WHILE THE CAR WARMS UP, THE ECU HAS DIFFERENT PARAMETERS TO GET THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE (OFTEN IT RUNS RICH AND CHANGES THE TIMING TO GET EXTRA HOT EXHAUST, SEARCH FOR "CATALYTIC CONVERTER LIGHT OFF").

I get that! I wasn't criticizing. It is just the simple fact that until somebody that can actually put hands on the car looks at it the info can be misleading.

chaoskaze 02-26-2015 07:55 PM

He is probably using work computer or something so it's always on CAPS, actually my car coughs all the time when its idling... So I end up very picky about the gas. But do you guys car cough all the time?

No, the guys that said they had it and were not worried about it did so because they don't think it is a problem but a simple normal operation of this engine. Some even went to the trouble of explaining why it does it and how it is normal. God knows you revived enough old threads that already had those answers in them that if you read every thing you would know that.
Now, having said that taking it in is what should be done right from the start!
