Why did you rebadge?
I've seen countless threads where people rebadge their 86s. I'm just wondering why YOU have rebadged or are thinking about doing it to yours.
EDIT: Sorry, just realized I should've left an option to see about how many do/don't rebadge. |
I prefer the look of the Toyota badge, in the warmer weather the scion badges will get dumped for Toyota Badges and a TRD badge will replace the FR-S badge
|
I swapped to the Toyota badge because it is symmetrical so it looks more appealing to me.
|
Rebadged to Ford to look like an F-150.

i like the look of the toyota badge more and my parents cant pronounce scion
"you bought a see-yon?" As a Turtle that swims over seas quite often they don't know what a fr-s is :D |
rebadged because theres no such thing as Scion. Where's the Scion factory?
|
I'd like to subtly change my "SUBARU" lettering to say "RUGARU" if I could find the matching letters.
|
I don't think I've ever seen anyone rebadge their brz. Maybe add sti' but never replace subaru.
|
I want rebadge mine with Lexus so i can say its the underpowered version of the LFA
|
I'm still looking for a used Subaru emblem for the rear trunk. I'd like to have Toyota up front and Subaru and the back. I always liked confusing people...
I don't want to pay $60 for an emblem. Though if i don't find one soon, I'll have to go ahead and buy it. |
"Insecure" should be a choice as well.
|
wrb and ppl know it's a brz. me debadged

Rocket Bunny Stanced and now Toyota vs Scion Cheer up. |
I prefer to keep it at Scion,
In my opinion company emblems who are not the main company on the car emblem tend to have a better reputation. For example Acura for Honda Infiniti for Nissan Lexus for Toyota BMW owns: Mini and Rolls Royce. Fiat owns: Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Ram and SRT. Ford Motor Company owns: Lincoln and a small stake in Mazda. General Motors owns: Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC. GM owns a controlling interest in Opel and Vauxhall in Europe and Holden in Australia. (The U.S. Treasury Department is in the process of selling off the remaining GM stock holidngs.) Honda owns: Acura. Hyundai owns: Kia. Tata Motors (India) owns: Jaguar and Land Rover. Mazda mostly independently owned (Ford has small stake) Mitsubishi is independently owned. Daimler AG owns: Mercedes-Benz and Smart. Nissan owns: Infiniti. (Nissan, in turn, is owned by Renault.) Saab is owned by National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS). Subaru: Owned by Fuji Heavy Industries with Toyota a minority partner. Tesla: Toyota is a minority partner. Partnership with Daimler AG. Toyota Motor Company owns: Lexus, Scion, Daihatsu and Hino Motors, with a stake in Fuji Industries (Subaru's parent company) and Isuzu. Volkswagen owns: Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, and overseas-brands SEAT and Skoda.WELL NOT IN MOST CASES Volvo is owned by Chinese-automaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, aka Geely. |

We aren't allowed to have opposing view points? We should all smile and nod even if we don't like something? Should all the threads consist of "I did XXX to my car" followed by 200 replies of "good work"? I agree with Tron on this completely. There is a stigma attached to Scion in some areas (for right or wrong reasons) and some people just like to fool themselves. As I have said a dozen times before in the "Badge Change" threads. You are not fooling anybody by changing to Toyota badges. The people who know the cars already know what it is and the people who don't just don't care. Having said all that I personally could care less what badges are on any car and you can badge them as a Porsche or a Ugo if it makes you feel better about yourself. |

I have to ask though. Is this step 3 in you psychology paper? |
When I started tearing in to the car, and everything said "Subaru" down to the monograms on the VIN sticker, I decided the car definitely wasn't a Scion. Maybe a Toyota, but not a Scion.
Also, the Scion brand name has never meant anything to me, other than tacky cheapo F&F wannabe cars. So now it's a Subaru. |
Scion is the young sporty son of toyota jajajaja...

Why are the Subaru guys not rebadging to this?

I'm thinking of gong with Toyota emblems, Subaru wheel caps and leave the FRS badge on the trunk. That way I cover all 3. Lol

I got the BRZ just so that I wouldn't have to own a Scion. No offense intended to FRS owners, I've just never liked the Scion brand and never felt they had a good reputation. |

To me, rebadging from Scion to Toyota is like the kids that rebadge from Acura to Honda because JDM, yo.
|
I rebadged because the Toyota emblems are much cleaner (IMO) then the dull Scion badges which look extra cheap btw, also I am a fan of the Toyota 86 and would like my car to look more like it even though I fully understand that it is really a Scion. It has nothing to do with embarrassment, hate or whatever of the Scion brand. Its actually kind of cool if you think about it, that USA has a version of the twins that other countries do not have, but I do wish we had the option of the actual Toyota 86 version and also different trims like Japan offers.
*after rebadging to Toyota people stopped asking me "what kind of car is that?", so I have come to the conclusion that it makes more sense lol |
I rebadged all of my outside badges. I even got the toyota dealership to replace my toyota badge when they had to repaint my front bumper lol
Also the reason I rebadged.. Scion = Scum of the earth. Scion = The reason my resale value will always be shit Scion = The reason I cringe everytime I have to say what brand my car is because I already know how most people will respond. Scion should not exist and they are doing absolutely nothing for anyone. Just a cheap knock off brand that gets scoffed at every day. Death to scion! :mad0260: |

Scion around here is rare and considered "exotic" by the general public (not talking about "car guys"). |
I haven't re badged mine yet because of the cost of the emblems. I did however remove the FRS badge.
Main reason I will re badge is because i always call it a Toyota, but more or else because of the culture behind this car and the 86 name. Initial D, drifting, keiichi tsuchiya, japanese culture etc....Scion doesn't represent any of that to me. |

Idk I have met many many many scion owners (not frs owners) and it is mostly older people that think they look neat. Which to some extent they can. I just wish toyota would stick to there guns and release an amazing car under there own name that isnt a tacoma or a 4runner.. Around here that is all people care about. Although if it was badged toyota then it would have been just as expensive as a BRZ and then I might not have been able to afford one. There are good and bad things about both sides. |
