New ride

Hey guys. I've been lurking the forums for years and this year I finally decided to ditch my Mitsubishi. After almost a year of debating which car I wanted I decided to get the 2015 FRS. I have a winter beater though I think I may want to try to see if this can be a daily driver. It seems most guys here drive it through winter/blizzards/ice storms with no issues. So I grabbed a set of new michiline x-ice xi3. I had to have the best for traction of course.

The total cost was 32,000. With backup camera/6.1" touch screen/michiline x-ice xi3

Well here she is. Firestorm red. Just gorgeous. I pick her up at 5 :)

Wilso 02-25-2015 04:06 PM

Congrats and Welcome! Maybe will see you around if you pop up to the Aurora/ Newmarket area :D

sledheadguy 02-25-2015 10:24 PM

nice looking car! Looks exactly the same as the one I bought 3-4 weeks ago. Mines a base model with armrest. I paid 24,600 all in in Edmonton. Bought Blizzaks and put on stock rims at dealership. Nice looking ride :)

ft86series1 02-25-2015 11:24 PM

Congratulations on the car! You'll enjoy it!

Mr.Impreza 02-26-2015 12:06 AM

Awesome stuff! Hope you enjoy the car and meet some cool members along the way. The community here is great and supportive, and glad to see another Canadian on board :D

Lorico 02-26-2015 06:46 AM

The camera will be installed by the dealer. :)

After driving this for a few hours I may need an armrest

We're glad you are enjoying the Fr-S ! Hopefully we'll see you again Monday evening at the Ancaster meet-up!

wbradley 02-26-2015 03:38 PM

I like the firestorm. So much so that I went out and got a WRX that colour as an after thought.

Enjoy!

86Tony 02-26-2015 03:39 PM

Damn congrats man and just wondering how you get the back up camera? I got a 2015 brz and didn't have a option to have that.

daiheadjai 02-26-2015 03:56 PM

Nice! I would've gotten red if it was available at the time!
Great colour!

Definitely hope you got winter tires though!

D_Thissen 02-26-2015 04:07 PM

Congrats!

Had the backup camera installed about 3 weeks ago, I was really tied up to update this thread. On top of being really busy, I'm going through hell with the service I had at Red Hill Toyota. Received a couple of dents on the trunk, a foot long dent on my passenger door and scratches on the bumper (very minor). One more thing, PDI missed a mess up on my paint . Looks like a big paint run on my passenger door, the same door it got dented... sigh

Well here are the pics of the camera, take note of the dents on the right hand side.

Man thats brutal!

Is the dealer fixing the issues?

Tcoat 03-27-2015 02:56 PM

Holy crap!

roddy 03-27-2015 08:42 PM

Ouch! Sorry to see the damage. I just noticed you're in Trenton...I'm not far away. If you're ever up for some twisty backroads, shoot me a PM.

Lorico 03-27-2015 09:04 PM

To make matters worse.... I live 250km away from this dealership. Its our family's 4th toyota vehicle. All purchased within 3 years from the same dealership.

The door with the dent/scratched is being repainted because of the factory paint was faulty. The trunk better get painted as well. They haven't gotten back to me yet about that. I have a booked a date for my repaint for the door.

Yah man, for sure. I've lived here for 4 years. And I've only been to Belleville twice. I don't go out much, only to GTA and hamilton on my leave.

I am headed up to Trenton in July. My grandson is going into Air Cadets in the fall and I wanted to take him through the museum and air park. I spent a lot of time on that base in the mid 70s and late 80s early 90s and have many fond memories. Also some substantial gaps in my memory as well to be honest (Damn fine Officers Mess).

I will drop you guys a line when I have a firm date and maybe we can all take a run.

roddy 03-27-2015 11:24 PM

There are some entertaining roads starting just north of Belleville. Even better north of Hwy 7, starting around Tweed...some real rollercoasters up there. I took my avatar picture on one of them.

Let me know date , time and place. Good chance I can make it as well.

roddy 03-27-2015 11:37 PM

Oh this could get good...

I'll say!
And I recall that there are some pretty sweet roads around there. Be even sweeter in the FRS then they were in an old Kaiser army jeep or deuce and a half.
You guys don't have a group up that way that we could try to work something in with do you?
I will open a new thread once I have an idea when. (Lorico can have his back).

roddy 03-28-2015 08:09 AM

@Tcoat there are a few of us around the Belleville/Trenton area, but I have had trouble getting anyone to commit to group drives. If yourself and @Lorico were interested in heading up to the Tweed area (about 1/2 hour north of Belleville) to start, I'm pretty sure some of the Ottawa group (like @Pbrown ) would join us. We had a group of about 20 FRZs touring some of those roads last fall and it was a blast.

Lorico 03-28-2015 09:13 AM

I do remember tweed having some really nice roads. Would be great to get more people

Once you get that straightened out, try going to Belleville Toyota for service/warranty work. I got the FR-S through them back in 2012 and they have been great. I do my own maintenance, but they have looked after a few warranty issues, and do the programming for my TPMS each spring and fall. I buy my parts/oil/filters there as well. Some time late this spring/early summer they are officially getting the Scion brand added to their dealership.

Lorico 04-06-2015 04:49 PM

so my FRS is at the dealer right now to get the dents fixed, I hope it comes out perfect.

I tried to negotiate to have them paint the TRD spoiler for the inconvenience... but they denied. sigh... well, i have this rav4 for a replacement at least...

ft86series1 04-14-2015 03:53 PM

Good afternoon Lorico,

We'd like to thank you for coming in to the dealership for the work and hope you were satisfied with the service.

We're very happy to see that service team painted the trunk along with the door. Hopefully our service team has redeemed themselves with this visit. Again thank you.

The paint on the door and the trunk look good, but driving 500km to get service would not ease my frustration. I know i may have some bad luck but my car came back with a broken window trim :mad0259: Its no big deal, but it is when I'm spending this much money, km, and time....

I even asked the scion manager to paint my new TRD spoiler for all the inconvenience, and you guys couldn't even cover that. As a customer with 4 toyota's from the same dealership, this is embarrassing.

That could be a bigger deal than you think! I for one would not want water sitting in there.
These are the nagging sort of issues that made me leave Mitsubishi after many years and 7 vehicles.
