Beatrush Suspension Products (Unboxing, Install, & Review)

A goal of mine with my 86 as opposed to my 2004 350Z is to use as many quality Japanese parts as possible...especially the big ticket items as well as the parts that will enhance my driving experience.

With my 350Z I had quite a few American made parts on a Japanese automobile...My suspension was not a big focus of mine in that build. With this build I decided on Beatrush products from Japan. From what I researched here on the forum and elsewhere, I came away impressed with the quality and the price. I contacted Josh @Kami Speed and made the following order:

**Parts List**

- Beatrush type 1 (Fr.) strut bar
- Beatrush type 2 (Fr.) tower bars
- Beatrush (R) strut bar
- Beatrush (Fr.) beam brace
- Beatrush (Fr.) support under brace
- Beatrush (R) beam brace
- Beatrush (R) member support bar
- Beatrush (R) performance bars
- Beatrush 19mm swaybar (Fr.)
- Beatrush 15mm swaybar (R)
- Beatrush pillow top mount(s)
- Beatrush differential mount support bar
- Beatrush transmission mount bushing spacer

Other non-suspension Beatrush products I own or are on order:

- Beatrush (R) tow hook
- Beatrush duracon white shift knob
- Beatrush spin turn parking knob
- Beatrush aluminum underpanel

I produced the following pictures today shortly after unboxing and unwrapping all received Beatrush parts.

My first impression of the parts is that they are seriously gorgeous and well made parts. I love the anodized gold! Take a look for yourselves.

Rear Member Support Bar Install
___________________________________________

Pretty easy install.

Tools Used:
Torque Wrench
Ratchet and Extension
19mm Socket
Low-profile jack
Red Thread-Lock

**Torqued bolts to 107 ft/lbs**

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...0Install08.jpg

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...0Install10.jpg

In Accordance With (IAW) Toyota Service Manual:
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...b-assembly.png

I reapplied red thread lock to the bolts. (**not shown in this pic**)

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...0Install11.jpg

Support the rear member with a jack or jack stand while installing bolts so it does not sag too much...too much sag will throw off the alignment needed to reinsert bolts. I tightened one side by hand (extension with socket) then the other. Torqued bolts to 107 ft/lbs.

Performance Bars Install
___________________________________________

Tools Used:
Torque Wrench
Ratchet and Extension
19mm Deep Well Socket
6mm Hex Socket
Low-profile jack

**Torqued bolts to 59 ft/lbs (at LCA pivots), 107 ft/lbs (at sub-frame assembly). I believe I did 40 to 50 ft/lbs at the performance bar joint hex bolt**

These joints are installed behind the LCA pivots with existing and provided hardware. These joints are universal.

Installed joints pictured.

Front Support Under Brace Install
___________________________________________

Tools Used:
Torque Wrench
Ratchet
10, 14, and 17mm Sockets
Low-profile jack
Blue Thread-Lock

**Prior to beginning, remove 7 10mm bolts from underbody panel to reveal installation area.**

Remove this 14mm bolt (one on either side). When reinstalled, apply blue thread-lock (not necessary, my preference) and torque to 44 ft/lbs.

**I supported the member with a jack in order to keep the holes aligned.**

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...0Install07.jpg

Provided hardware will be installed in these holes... one hole on either side. Apply blue thread-lock (not necessary, my preference) and torque to 55 ft/lbs (unverified).

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...0Install10.jpg

One of the supplied bolts as viewed from the front looking back.

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...0Install03.jpg

No need to hold nut when tightening because lip (pictured) keeps nut from spinning. The supplied bolts are 10mm diameter with 17mm heads and 1.50 thread pitches...I torqued them to 65 ft/lbs even thought they are rated to handle a little more than that.

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...0Install02.jpg

In Accordance With (IAW) Toyota Service Manual:
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...Components.png

Tight fit when reinstalling under body panel.

Completed install (minus under body panel).

Tools Used:
Ratchet and 19mm Socket

Disclaimer:

**I don't autocross, drift, or drag... my review of these products will come from a spirited but safe (as can be) driving point of view. My 86 is mainly a hobby for me, a show car, and a beautiful weather driving car.**

Ok... now that I got that out of the way... I finally got my 86 back on the road this past weekend albeit it was to primarily to bed my Runduce BBK and gauge my alignment post suspension mods. My alignment was actually pretty damn good considering all the work I've done... however I will have an alignment done in the near future.

Ok... so not many twisties to report on just yet but I can say that the chassis felt solid... stiff but in a good comfortable way. I am not going to be able to narrow down which mods provided the best feel of the road because I modified my suspension quite a bit and added wider wheels and tires in one bang. However, collectively I feel the outcome will be a positive one once I really test the suspension.

I will say that I am satisfied so far with the Beatrush products I have installed and feel that once I really test my suspension that they will live up to the expectations I have for them.

more to come ...

Price was good enough for me to pull the trigger ;-) Check the prices out for yourself and compare them to other brands... I'm very excited about my purchase!

They really are high quality components...I love that they offered almost every item I was wanting and some that I didn't know I wanted... lol Definitely would recommend Beatrush products based on what I know about them to this point... more info on their actual performance soon.

wow, I kind of like their color scheme going on. wonder how they compare with Cusco's bracing. all I know is that all these types of braces are super expensive haha. I'm eyeing that diff bushing brace though... I wonder why there's two bolts on one bushing but nothing on the other.

Here are some shots of my Beatrush strut bar installed...

I really have to get an alignment (even though my 86 is driving pretty straight) so I can post my experience with my Beatrush suspension setup...

Problem is I do not know who I can trust in my town to handle my car. I've called the only import shop in town to get their opinion on alignment shops but all I get is an answering machine. So I'll just have to do a little research myself.

I'm probably going to drop by Goodyear and or Firestone this week and ask about pricing but most important to me is gauging how professional and careful the staff is...I hate that I can't verify my alignment myself...

Unfortunately I experienced some rubbing in the rear (more on the passenger side) after my alignment.

Here is the thing though, driving home from my alignment I had no issues...today I had a 6'5" 240lb friend and two gym bags and a case of water so @280 lbs of extra weight... Tomorrow I'll have to drive it again without the extra weight.

Either way I want to make some adjustments...

projekt zeal86 build

zeal86 07-11-2015 12:10 AM

Figured out my rubbing issue... the brace that protects the emergency brake cable was contacting the inside of my wheels. Bent the brace away from the wheel and the grinding went away... going to test out the suspension this weekend.

Got a chance last weekend to put some more miles on my 86 post alignment.

Although I didn't drive it like I stole it I did notice some positive things during my spirited drive...

- shifting felt really solid, clean or crisp if you will... there was very little slop anywhere...
- the 86 handled like it was on rails... the ride is definitely stiffer but IMO totally in a positive way. If I had to drive it every day I could. I loved accelerating into and out of turns...
- didn't really have any transient noises that I did not know the cause of. I drove with my music off in order to verify this.

Overall I felt very connected to the road which is a great feeling when driving spiritedly... I have installed multiple suspension parts simultaneously so it is difficult to give more credit to one mod over another... However I can say that the Beatrush suspension parts make up the majority of my set up... so I must give credit where credit is due... Beatrush makes some outstanding parts especially when compared to the pricing of competing brands on equivalent products... Beatrush takes the cake IMO because of that.

Btw, I purchased my Beatrush parts from Josh over at Kamispeed... Great guy, great service...couldn't be happier with their customer service.
