1 Attachment(s)
I'm really thinking of going rocket bunny for my 13 frs probably version one. I want to get the front and rear fenders done first but I have some questions like what size rims and tires will I need when the fenders get put on? I currently have enkei kojin 18x9 rims that are flush with my frs right now so It looks pretty good. Attachment 102322 here's a picture. Please help

I want to go rocket as well, but probably as one of my later projects. I'll be looking at this thread for results as well!

Nice looking car. Such a shame you want to spend so much to fuck it up.
|
lol @ choosing wheel sizes to match aftermarket fenders instead of getting aftermarket fenders to be able to fit wide wheels

Edit: also doubt he's prepared for the final cost of the build. With about 5k into the kit, couple thousand for install, couple thousand for paint and finishing, I'm not sure he's ready for that total. |

Then I thought back to what I did to some cars and realized that even this car is nothing more than an inexpensive coupe no different then the (much older) cars I "modded" back in my younger days. That does not mean I have relinquished the right to joke about some extreme examples just that I really don't care what anybody does. Just as long as anybody doing anything does not show up here ask for opinions and then get all bent out of shape when they get them! |
Sure if you want to trash prefectly good fenders and decrease the value of your car even faster than it already does. rocket bunny will do both of that that for you.

Definitely not a "Let me get my car and immediately buy a full body kit for it!" decision you want to make. |

If you plan on trading/selling it, then mod what you feel is safe to. Totally the owner's call. However, I'm keeping mine for a good long while. I'll be the grandpa with the obituary stating how I was the cooliest and died driving my awesome car. "How did grandpa die?" "He went out in a blaze of glory driving his FR-S." |
You guys seem to have missed the more important question, why is your pic crooked like that??
|
Do I have this right? The fender is hacked open and beat back with a hammer? That's quality design right there.

Cut fender, fold back the interior metal to wrap up to the top fender, grind down, tap weld, weld some more, grind some more, seal off. Place on RB fenders
Welcome to ACTUAL modifications |

Sorry, I have higher standards. The inner wheel-well should be properly integrated back into the outer quarter. Structure and corrosion are both compromised with this hack-job. Then again, it is not my car, so carry on! |

"Dude, what's that hideous fucking piece of shit with half the car cover blown off in your granddad's back yard? Was that part of a carnival ride or something?" "I don't know, it's some kind of 'car.' He keeps trying to give it to me for when I turn 16. If I can't find something else, I'll be a virgin until I'm 25." |
There is no accounting for taste.
If I was the 13 year old me, I would go full rocket bunny and live every second of it. Don't be such sour asses. |
NEVER GO FULL RETARD !!!

Although, if you desperately want to go rocket bunny, there are more than enough photos, threads and cars out there that using the search function would save much heartache... |
oh no, not another one.

Dag-nam auto correct. I fixed it for ya. |
I thought about doing a rb kit too! But left it as a thought and came back down to reality. lol

It is re-integrated with the outer quarter panel. Why don't you look up install videos/instructions for this process and see how it is done. As I said, the inner metal is bent up, the outer fender is bent down, you weld, grind, and fill and it is closed up. You then spray it to coat and seal to stop corrosion. Just because you do not understand how the work is done doesn't mean the end result is bad. |
I feel that half the people that diss on the RB kit are jealous guys that wish they could install it but can't afford it.
Anyways, there is a thread on another forum with just RB guys that compare what wheel setups they are running. Just google 'rocket bunny wheel spec fr-s'. |

Been restoring cars for well over 30 years. I think I have a pretty good grasp of shit work when I see it and that picture I posted shows shit work. Bottom line from an aesthetics point, if it does not look good enough without the fake fender to cover it, then it is shit. As to the final look, I have no problems. From a structural point, it is probably no worse than a 10 year old car with rusted out wheel arches. So, yeah, it wont fall apart is the best I can say. But not to worry, there are enough people on this planet that don't know shit form Shinola so this mod is bound to find people who buy it. |
