Opposed 06-08-2012 12:35 PM

Sticker was 24,930, traded in my S2000 for 10k. Not sure total number after TTL. Im leasing for 3 years as of now...

EsoBOFH 06-08-2012 12:42 PM

Price in Canada (Vancouver)

Right now I have a 2007 Toyota Tundra (significantly faster than the FR-S, but has much more body roll in the corners :) heh).

I'm trading this in on the FR-S - they've given me $18 000.00 for it, against the purchase price of $27 610.00 - with a balance of $9,610.00. Plus freight, delivery, pdi, etc - it ends up being a $80.00 bi-weekly payment, total ~30 000.00 (CAD)

A 98 honda civic dx 3 door with......

body damage
broken passenger mirror
faulty hatch handle
broken hood release
busted inner driver tie rod
valve cover gasket
and *drumroll*
Oil in the radiator from most likely a head gasket

I bought it used 2 years prior for $2400 cash. I just needed a vehicle i could park on the city streets and didn't care a lick about. 40,000 miles later the twins arrived and I moved to the suburbs. Goodbye beater, hello sexy.

Seeing my last car and how I didn't care about it makes my girlfriend laugh that I carry cleaning wipes in my car (to clean off the bird droppings without having to give it a full wash).

HAHA, I only got $750 for my 2002 Ford Taurus with 78,600miles. Broken A/C, heat, and front defrost, but otherwise in good condition--just smelled like burning whenever you drove it. White smoke came through the vents the last two times it was driven (which includes the drive to the dealer, lol).

As for what I paid--

MSRP: $26,414 (incl. $220 Whiteout, $95 trunk mat, $69 bumper applique)
Document Preparation Fee: $55
Sales Tax: 7.75% x $26,414 + $55 = $2051.35
===========
SUB-SUBTOTAL: $28,801
===========
8year/100,000mi Extended Warranty: $1,600
GAP insurance: $695
Est. Licence/Title/CA Tire : $172 + $100 + $8.75 = $280.75
===========
SUBTOTAL: $31,096.10
===========
Trade-in Value: ($750)
Cash Down: ($3,000)
===========
===========
TOTAL Financed: $27,346.10 @ 1.99%

MONTHLY PMT: $479.59

How good of credit rating do you have to qualify for 1.99% these days?

I think their best rates were for 720+, so excellent, maybe? I had no idea going into the dealer what my credit score was--I just knew I was pre-approved by my credit union for an auto loan up to $50,000 @ 2.99%, so I was gonna be okay either way. Their finance guy just wanted to beat it and he did. :)

Every time I hear about someone having a good warrenty.
Tommy: Let's think about this for a sec, Ted. Why would somebody put a guarantee on a box? Hmmm, very interesting.
Ted Nelson, Customer: Go on, I'm listening.
Tommy: Here's the way I see it, Ted. Guy puts a fancy guarantee on a box 'cause he wants you to feel all warm and toasty inside.
Ted Nelson, Customer: Yeah, makes a man feel good.
Tommy: 'Course it does. Why shouldn't it? Ya figure you put that little box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter, am I right, Ted?
[chuckles until he sees that Ted is not laughing]
Ted Nelson, Customer: [impatiently] What's your point?
Tommy: The point is, how do you know the fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy; well, we're not buying it. He sneaks into your house once, that's all it takes. The next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser, and your daughter's knocked up. I seen it a hundred times.
Ted Nelson, Customer: But why do they put a guarantee on the box?
Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of shit. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.
Ted Nelson, Customer: [pause] Okay, I'll buy from you.
Tommy: Well, that's...
Tommy, Richard Hayden: ...What?

Check your local newspaper(online or print matter), it lists your areas best and average car loans for both new and used and what bank offers it.

Simply go and see what they offer, do it 2-3 times until you've found your lowest rate.

Also, be aware that just because Scion offers a low rate and you qualify, doesn't mean they will give it to you if they can trick you out of it. Let's say they ask what the best rate you've found so far is and you tell them 3.0 or higher. They will then run their check and say "guess what, we got you in at 2.9" or "2.8" while not mentioning you actually qualified for the 1.9

If you think this might be happening just tell them you want to know if you qualified for the lowest rate or not, yes or no, don't give me a number, yes or no.

No, unfortunately I owed 7k on the S2000, so about 3k went into it. Im sure I will buy this car out at the end, but the small payments were too attractive to me. Over $100 less per month than my 10 year old, 100k mile S2K.

Fish 06-09-2012 01:44 PM

Mine was:

Before tax - 25,094 (It had the rear bumper applique and something else. Destination fee I think.)
After TTL - 27,650
Then I got 10k for my Evo 8 trade in - 7k leftover over on my loan.
3k down
Came out to 24,715 in the end.

I'm actually getting about 500 back because all this paperwork was done May 5th. Car didn't get in until May 29th. Because of that I had to pay for the Evo that month.

:eyebulge:

They got you hook line and sinker! My BRZ Limited is OTD 28,200 before taxes which will bring it to 29328. Licensing will be around $500 a year. $250 for tint, not sure on clear bra yet, and I think I'll opticoat myself.

WTF is quantum finish? Wax made of gold?

You basically got a $5k markup!

the Knick, whatever it is better worth more than 1k.

2500 for bumper to bumper? I would assume its worth considering if its brand with shitty reliability, but this is toyota.
