BRZ first mod?

I`m about to get my New Brz in about a month and i just wanted some recommendations on what my first mod should be ??

k.houan 01-14-2015 11:41 PM

Openflash Tablet.

h8meh8ers 01-14-2015 11:47 PM

Exhaust for sure. The stock exhaust is way too quiet.

strat61caster 01-14-2015 11:49 PM

Fix the nut behind the wheel: go get educated on driving the thing quickly, AutoX or HPDE, someone with a good reputation for quality instructors.

swaq 01-15-2015 01:33 PM

The first and only mod I've done to mine was removing the noise generator tube.

scottxnizzle 01-15-2015 02:08 PM

Engine swap.

tyrantcf 01-15-2015 03:34 PM

+1 for open flash tablet.

Followed closely by engine swap.

Change out the piss water gas your dealer put in

themadscientist 01-15-2015 06:51 PM

No one answer for the question. It depends on the individual needs, tastes, capabilities and cash flow of the owner. Driving it as it is for a little while and getting to know it will reveal to you things YOU may want to change.

aznatama 01-15-2015 07:04 PM

LOL, these questions are hilarious... everyone has a different opinion. Change exhaust! OFT! Driving school! Put a sticker on it! Immediately sell it and buy a RC-F instead!

OP, what do you want to do with your car? Can't you decide for yourself? If you can't decide for yourself, you need to let us know a bit more about what you goals are, budget, and experience...

The problem with the answer is, it's just as vague as the question.

The guy doesn't even own his car yet, who says he'll still want/need a BRZ in a month?

Until someone owns a car and posts an opinion about what they desire or wish the car had, there's no way I will give an exact suggestion. Although, engine swap is pretty good to start considering most people wanting to mod this car out of the box want power.

Put in a powerful enough engine, they will stop wanting power mods. There, that's my reasoning.

Stereo. The base model one on the BRZ (non-satnav) is rubbish. That and the speakers are not much better either.

Dr Speed 01-16-2015 02:44 AM

Good point, I forget mine was already tinted. That would have been high on the list.

I hate to be that guy, but this answer gets posted in every "what mod should I get" thread, and it isn't a very good one. OP is asking for mods to his car, not mods to give him better lap times. He wants to know what flaws and weak points there are in this car, as well as get a taste of what the FRS/BRZ community is doing. Is the headunit shitty? Is there an awesome catback that everyone agrees on? That's what he wants to know.

In the FT86 community, the obvious complaint is that there isn't enough power. In other communities, the stock suspension might be floaty, or part X might be a weak point that should be replaced if you plan on owning the car long term. Not everything is about high performance lol. I 100% agree that everyone could benefit from autox, but he asked about the car, not the driver.

I think that is a fair criticism of this piece of advice but I absolutely think it's worth mentioning.

Many people mod to get more enjoyment out of the car, more performance, more connection and many people don't realize how many affordable options they have to actually drive the car at 10/10ths of it's capability just like on Top Gear or X movie.

Besides, if there's the 1/1,000 chance that the guy tests out his open flash tablet and new exhaust at the track instead of blasting around the local backroad with all the risks associated it's worth the minor annoyance.

As posted above we have no idea what the OP wants so he gets suggestions for tires, suspension, engine swaps and sound systems.

Fuzzy Dice!

BriRZed 01-17-2015 09:24 PM

Nothing.

I'm probably way in the minority here, but the thing that drew me to the BRZ was that it was purposefully built to be an awesome car with it's handling capabilities rivaling cars 2-3x the price, and I don't want to really mess with that. Stock seems to leave a bad taste in peoples mouth, but that only makes sense if you're trying to turn a Civic into a more of a track car; this isn't really a budget commuter car that *needs* to be modded out to be cool.

IMO thinking about performance mods are a bit premature before you even get the car, and really get to know it as it was designed. Which only leaves cosmetic mods, which are really only personal taste. So, the ball's back in your court, OP :)
