Toyota offering free name badges!
Works for BRZ owners and any other car as well.
No numbers, so you can't get AE86/GT86 badges, sadly. http://toyota10.silktricky.com/english/ |
somehow this seems fishy
|
I want to believe it is true but I am really skeptical..
|
My friend named his Avalon "LFA" lol

a quick google search shows the same page in many languages.....sketchy! |
Submitted. My name and address isn't going to get them anywhere. Spam snail mail wouldn't really hurt me.
|
lol....Just grabbed "RACECAR" just for the Irony of it.
|
We aren't stupid Toyota would never use "silktricky" in the domain name
|
Ya pretty sure that has nothing to do with Toyota! I bet if you dig far enough you will find the same thing for any make and I bet they are in no way "free".
Next question is who is brave enough to click on the order button?????? Apparently Phantom is brave enough to at least go part way! |

There was a guy on Reddit who did this. He received his badge in a couple of days. If you go to reddit.com/r/trees then you would be able to find it. The title is "Sooo, Toyota had a name your car event. I didn't think they'd actually send me this."
|
It looks like it was from a Spanish PR event, so I went for it. I'll report back if I end up missing a kidney :p
|
looks legit to me they have a ton of people with pics linked to what appears to be valid instagram accounts if you scroll down
|
yeah, all the "user" submitted pics convinced me. I'll be moving out of my apartment within a year anyways.
edit: one of the owners called his Yaris "Tardis". good stuff |

Could be perfectly legit but it is setting off a lot of alarms in my head. |
I'm brave/foolish, and ordered "EightSix" just to see if it would work. It says its on its way.
|
Couldn't order if I wanted too as there is no Canada options for address.

Possibly legit. Main downside is that your info is gonna be sold all over which will probably increase your spam mail quite a bit.
Seeing as how it doesn't really ask too much information, I figure it's worth a shot. |
This is real, its just an advertising campaign to get people to talk about the brand and post photos via social media as free advertising and then combine it all on there site in a social aggregator. Toyota realizes the biggest target market for people looking to buying a car are millennials and the easiest way to get them to talk about toyota is to give them free shit and share online
|
Snagged up 'Toyobaru'. Sent it to my friend's address. Muahahah
|
Nice, thanks OP.
got Toyobaru for my FRS and "Elsa" for my winter beater RAV4. Elsa as in "the cold never bothered her anyway" :) she sits outside while my frs sits in the garage. |

It's a legitimate email address so I can check it, and when it starts getting too bad I delete it and replace the "n" in the middle with the next number in sequence. |
since it's just a name and address I did it, not a ton they can do with that.
|
Whois is interesting.

Does this mean it's legit?
|
^I believe she owns/works for Silk Tricky, an advertising studio. They did work for Old Spice a while ago.

It is legit. I got it today but I filled the form out like a month ago (letters are raised and metallic just like a real one):
|
I'm going to request "LYNN", "LUND" and various others to make all sorts of inappropriate comments for her.
|
Seems sketchy. I was going to try to mail to a PO box but I'm one letter short for "Hachiroku."

Supposedly this site works too. http://masqueunauto.com/english/
Googled and found it on Toyota of Whittier blog. The difference on this link is that there is a link to their Facebook/Twitter page. The one from OP didn't have that D: Not sure if it matters Edit: You also cant place the order for the badge on this link lolol weird |
Quote:
But the free badge offer is over. So any other link is fake lol. "mas que un auto" means "more than a car" which suggests why you are giving it a name. |
