Any Other Pre-Production Members still here?

Hey all, I'm still a daily lurker here on the FR-S forums. I've been following this car since 2009 when it was first introduced as the FT-86 concept, and it's been a blast following all the progression from the twins to their modern day form. Just wondering if any of the "old-timers" are still around.

Wise 01-08-2015 01:55 AM

Joined on 2012 after I put a deposit down in June, I got my car in December. When they announced the starting price at 30k AU I was sold.

However I was following the car with much interest since the concept was announced.

Still waiting for the G-Sports version to come out lol.

carma143 01-08-2015 03:52 AM

That concept looks really cool.

WOULD BUY IF IN JAPAN.

Vincenttam 01-08-2015 04:52 AM

I've been following it since late 2010 and was part of rx-8 club. Didn't feel qualified to join this club since i wasn't expecting to buy the car. haha

Bristecom 01-08-2015 06:00 AM

I've been on here frequently since before the release. I first heard about it with some rumors of Subaru and Toyota working together on a sports car but doubted it would happen. Then eventually, I saw some prototype pics and was fascinated. I became a lurker on these forums but when they announced the pricing and details, I realized it would be my next car and joined. This will be the year that I finally get one. :)

driftguy 01-08-2015 12:51 PM

I've been here for a bit. Can't believe it's been 4 years. I'm not one to post often, I just shut up and watch the madness happen.

I had an account from before release but I can't remember the log in.
I knew I wanted this car since concept

finch1750 01-08-2015 01:17 PM

I found this site in April 2012 just before the release and a few weeks after I put down a deposit. Didnt join til I picked up the car May 2012. I have followed it from concept in 2009 but got most my info from the general web and club4ag

Made this post on FB first time I saw the concept. Had heard the rumors about the car a bit prior.

BRZZZZZZZZZZ 01-08-2015 01:32 PM

I was the original "fuck this car" hater on beyond.ca, and somehow now I own one...

Saw the original concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2010 as well.

DarkSunrise 01-08-2015 01:41 PM

I loosely followed development for a few years, but wasn't serious about buying one until after driving a production version at one of the Scion first drive autocross events. Joined the forum around then.

Dave-ROR 01-08-2015 01:42 PM

Been lurking since 09 as well. No idea when I created this account. I'll find out in two seconds when I post this and look.

NotSoJDM 01-08-2015 01:46 PM

lol, I was on another forum specific to the brz for a while before I finally joined this one. Got my car back in 6/2012 and been enjoying it ever since.

FRSfan111 01-08-2015 01:51 PM

I followed the car early 2011 but didn't join till after I was selected for scions first 86 program.

RFB 01-08-2015 01:53 PM

Also an early adopter, auto FRS, hard tracking for 3 years, all is well at 60,000 kms.
A lifetime standard driver, now I can't go back to no paddles, I'd sell my house and buy a Ferrari first - LOL.

I lurked here a bit back in late 2010 or so, but was a die hard Mitsu guy that was going to have a Eclipse Spyder GT in the next 3 or 4 years.
I figured "that FT 86 looks Ok but if they actually build them they will be crap anyway" and left.
I was wrong!

Quentin 01-08-2015 02:52 PM

I found old nasioc posts when it was first rumored (prior to the ft86 concept). I asked for 2600lbs, 180hp, 7500 redline, $22k. Close enough. Finally got mine this summer. I found out my wife was pregnant with out first 1 day before the Toyota 86 was revealed, hence the delay.

I ordered my car sight unseen. Loved it based on all the internet chatter. I am happy to report that all the chatter was correct.

been on here for a while, maybe about three years now. Fell in love with the concept and patiently waited until i got my car. Love every last bit of it

Still have the newspaper from '09 when it was printed as a "Concept FT86" introduced at one of the Auto Shows...

Made deposit early release date and got one of the first few cars 3 months later.

Also, used to own an AE86 GT-S with the AE111 20V Blacktop swap... for 5 years before selling it with the MR-S for the BRZ.

Veloist 01-08-2015 05:01 PM

Followed the car since the FT-86 concept was revealed some time in October in 2009 but didn't join the forum until after the production car was revealed. Being 18, didn't think I would get one but it automatically became my dream car. My dad got one & realized insurance was high along with the other cars we owned so we sold it after a year since it didn't need to be a daily driver.

Made a vow to myself to work hard to get one after college. I'm graduating this May but I may stretch out my wait for another Release Series FR-S or at least something that transcends above the base model :)

My kids fight over who has to ride in the back seat but they would still rather ride in my car then the family SUV.

Oh, my kids are both in their 30s by the way!

Wilsonk227 01-08-2015 08:41 PM

Followed since 2011 but only got really into it when they released the production. I followed that until around 2013 when I decided to make an account on the forums. :)

hard to believe it has been 4 years :P Time flies.
I was so into the car i decided to download the original GT86 commercial and change the music to something a tad bit more exciting...maybe lol
Now that I watch it again, it's only meh xD

I started watching it when they showed the first concept. Then I was put off by the announcement that it would be a joint Subaru-Toyota project. I joined the forum officially in anticipation of the 2012 NAIAS and made the trip to Detroit to see the car. I have seen a lot of early adopters and fambois come and go since I have been here.

Ironically, after I saw the car in person and really liked it, I decided to put a 2ZZ engine in my MR-S and keep it instead of buying a twin. Eventually, I did convince my son, who accompanied me to the introduction in Detroit, to replace his G35 with an FR-S.

Been a lurker here for quite a while and following the car from the first concept.

Tried going to other sites (shock horror I know) but this one just has all the info I'd ever need and nice people that are happy to get into meaty discussions (relatively free of BS) on every aspect of the car, whether good or bad.

Delighted to say the car exceeded my expectations and feel lucky every day to have one to call my own. Man what a cathartic experience it's been :thanks:

NWFRS 01-08-2015 10:51 PM

I was made aware of the FT86 concept early on by a buddy who was a Toyota salesman in Fort Collins CO.

I originally knocked the styling because it looked like it CAME FROM THE FACTORY WITH A BODY KIT. Yuck.

Then I saw the production version and became more interested.

Then I read everything I could find about them.

Then I test-drove one.

Then I wanted one.

The end. :-)

mkivalex 01-08-2015 11:52 PM

Cant remember when I signed up, but it was long before the car came out. And i lurked for a while before that too...I guess I will look at my sign up date once this posts.
