My sister put regular gas in my frs!
So I left my sister borrow my car for a couple hours and she told me she's full my tank up and she did. But she put regular gas in my baby 😣😣😣 I'm sure one time won't hurt it. But what's the affects of using regular gas instead of premium?

car will make less power. just don't rev high or put heavy load and you will be fine. you can put a bottle or two of octane booster if that makes you feel any better, but really, don't worry and drive slowly for a few days.
btw, what is "regular"? in cali we have 87/89/91 |
Regular is the 87 over there. We also have 87/89/91. I'll TRY to keep the speed low lol. It will never happen again doee

You'll be fine, the engine will probably knock a bit but the computer will be able to sort things out for the most part. Just try to keep engine loads low.
Keep in mind that quite a few dealerships fill all the cars on the lot with regular. |
Best to stick a bunch of octane boosters in there and keep the revs very low. Like 3000rpm. If you are able to drain it, that is your sure bet.

Buy her a siphon hose and tell her to get to work.

one of the reasons I drive MT
|
It will knock but not detrimentally to the engine that's what the knock sensors job is detect that knock and adjust the air fuel ratio and other variables to match. Octane boosters are a waste of money on these engines it's not a friggin lawn mower the best thing you can do is wait till less than a quarter tank of gas fill up with the highest octane and go back to normal. So to answer your question you'll notice a drop in power and maybe some knock/ping.
|
dont buy octane boost it does nothing. Just drive it easy for half the tank then fill with 93.
|
I'd aim to keep the revs in the 3000-4000rpm range, keeping it too low will load it up A LOT and put it in a big knock prone area of the rev range.
Just keep throttle input light and you'll be fine. Even if you go ripping around it won't damage it, but you'll definitely be losing power and getting some knock. |
What would happen if I just went ham with regular? Just asking. Lol

Never let your sister drive your car...I thought everyone knew that!
|
Drive her somewhere (carefully) until the regular gas is gone, get premium gas, leave her there and tell her she can think about what she's done on the walk home.

First tank of gas in my car was regular, put in by the dealer on the test drive while I stood there watching not realizing what they were doing. I suppose I could have forced them to drain the tank and refill it, but honestly didn't even think about it until I was at the same station a few days later at the same pump and realized what they had done. No ill effects after 55,000+ miles. |

That is the question |

obviously she sucks. at reading. |
Pics of sister before we can make an honest assessment.

Go to Autozone, Napa, Pep Boys, or Orielly's and get an octane booster for like $10 bucks if your real paranoid.
In Cali, we don't have 93 so I ran my car on 91 for 15,000 miles before tuning it. Now run a 93 map, which I take a tank of 91 and add a 1/3 to a 1/2 a bottle of octane booster to get it up to the 95-97oct range. Monitoring for knock on OFT showed less than the stock map this way. If its good for the car or cats, well I'm sure someone will argue me on this, but it is the internet, so people will argue with you on everything with little knowledge. |

If had 87 in the car id just take a road trip to burn it all off. Steady cruising speed should be very low load. |

Florida was nice. :) |
HOnestly the only thing she can do is sell her body until she has paid off the damage done.
