Interior Red Carpet / Console Mod - DIY JDM Pics - Supplier Help (?)

Loving this DIY mod I found on minkara.co.jp.

Anyone have suggestions where to source the material to overlay the centre console as seen below (?)

I assume there is no direct Red carpet replacement(?)

That looks horribly tacky

The S2K makes it work somehow. I think we just need to see a wider shot. But right now, I think it's just before that tacky threshold.

I loved the red interior in my s2000. I think this looks great minus the red shift knob and e brake handle.

That S2000 red is much classier, more of a wine color to it. It also doesn't drop bits of red all over the interior like in the 86 photos. The design is much more deliberate -- and effective -- in my eyes.

This. The 86's execution looks cheap.

That's not carpet. It looks more like vinyl. You can most likely get it, and the adhesive you will need, at almost any decent sized fabric store.

If guns kill people I can blame my pencil for misspelled words.

I would pay almost anything for a nice brown carpet kit :-/

I am redoing my interior in a black and red suede right now. I will post it when I finish. I think the way I am making it might be a little less tacky than this?

I think just doing the carpet red and doing the seats all red or stock brz seats with the red stitching would be perfect

cbennybrz 12-30-2014 02:05 AM

yeah, i was look foward for updating the interior of brz with some nice leather over those cheap plastic parts

Jive Turkey 01-03-2015 01:38 AM

if its were only red carpet and red leather seats, yeah it could work. leather trim, not feeling it.

the person who helped me with my interior can do this for you, just pm me. look through my interior thread.

FYI this isn't an overlay you can just slip on. you can see its stitched, its most likely vinyl or leather, but regardless you have to glue it and send your center console out to get done.

all of my interior is in alcantara, but i have a red alcantara boot, check it out. he can do the same in leather or both.

I'd rather do red bride seats and bride fabric on the door cards.

I'm with Jive. Red leather just looks off in the 86.

did you ever find out who made the center console?

toast 03-14-2016 09:46 AM

That center console would really not be difficult at all to do, the only real difficulty wrapping the console is doing it in one piece. To match what that looks like you will use 2 separate pieces of leather, even the stitching part would be trivial. When you buy leather you have the option of belly or back, make sure you choose belly so that it is thinner.

I won't judge the aesthetics since you didn't ask for that.
