Where do you guys shop?
Hi guys,
I was looking for a thread on this but didn't find one so I decided to make a thread on it to see where everyone shops for their aftermarket goods. Where do you shop for LED/lighting? Exhausts? Wheels? Etc. :) I've seen ft86speedfactory before but not sure if it's the best/cheapest place to purchase parts and all. If this was a thread please delete it admin. Sorry! :respekt: P.S. sorry if this sounds like noobtastic but I've never actually purchased stuff for my car before. |
Where the deals are. :P
Also, certain shops that specialize. Like I would buy suspension from a shop that knows about suspension set-ups for our application etc. |
So I don't have any loyalty to a certain shop. If I can buy the same thing somewhere cheaper and they can't match the price, I buy from the other shop.
Just do your research. I can't say which place to buy XXX part, because there may be somewhere cheaper. All I can tell you is how much I got my part from the place I bought it. Maybe I got hosed :p |

diode dynamics is great for lighting stuffs. i bought a full set of LED bulbs for my brz from them.

I like Counter Space Garage because they are active in the community, have and continue to have track experience in this car, and great customer support.
|
I shop either with FT86SpeedFactory or GrimmSpeed directly. Really good so far!
|
FT86SpeedFactory, they have such good customer service.

I shop all kinds of places depends what I'm buying.
For the most part though I go directly to manufactures if they will sell direct to consumer if they do don't be fooled by their "online pricing" that is almost always higher than the other "authorized dealers" you can get them to come down and beat almost anyone's price moat of the time. If they will not sell direct to consumer or budge on their price I will find out who their largest dealers are and start making calls to see who well give me the best price as the largest dealers get the best pricing most of the time, so they can give the best discount. If I go with what I have on my pad here for my build I am starting to pull the trigger I will save a total of nearly 4,000 dollars doing this so far between the cai, pulleys, body kit, and wheels I have saved $1970 off of the "cheapest" pricing I could find online and have managed to get it all from manufactures or the manufactures largest dealers and everything has full warranty on it. |
I shop for the best price. When I settle on a particular product, I usually search on Google by name or part number to see where I can find it for cheapest. I also check Amazon (no, not Amazon Marketplace), which often has the best price on items you wouldn't expect them to have. Most of it usually ships free.
If it's something I don't mind buying used, I check the member classifieds here, although a lot of people here seem to think their used parts are worth as much as new, and the truly good deals seem to go very quickly. So whether you score the deal is a large part luck. I also check eBay. I will sometimes use SearchTempest.com to search Craigslist, just in case. For my Jeep, I have a lot of luck finding good deals on parts using Frugal Mechanic, which is a parts search engine that points you to other sites. I've only found a couple of items for the BRZ that way, but that may change as mainstream parts suppliers pick up more parts for the twins. The good thing about FM is that it will often include discount codes. I find that sponsors of this forum generally do NOT have the best prices or shipping terms. I have purchased a few items from forum vendors, but in those cases it was always because they were the only vendors selling those particular items. I haven't had any problems with forum vendors, but I really think people here are willing to pay way too much vendors out of some kind of irrational religious loyalty. Several times I have checked the price from a forum sponsor shouting that they had the absolutely lowest prices anywhere, only to find it for 20% less from another vendor or on Amazon and with free shipping. I really don't understand it, because the Jeep vendors I deal with for my other vehicle usually give really good discounts to Jeep forum members. |
Second FT-86 SpeedFactory and Diode Dynamics. Actually just placed an order with the latter for upgraded license plate and backup LED lighting.

Lately I get my LEDs on Amazon. Used to use superbrightleds but expensive shipping. VLeds has some of the brightest LEDs IMO, but pricey.
I also shop a lot on Ebay, not for lights though, they're almost always terrible. For HIDs, I only use DDM Tuning. Everything else, I'm not loyal to any brand. Find the cheapest price and try to buy used on the forum. |
I've bought from a few different vendors. Always been happy with ft86speedfactory, also rallysport direct.
|
If your looking for the best deals, just search around and see where you can get the best deals. I always save links until im almost certain the product im going to buy is the best price.
Checking out the groupbuys is a good start. |
Racecomp engineering for suspension
Counter space is also good and involved in track diving, etc. |
I'm Canadian, so my options are a little limited compared to people in the US. But I do some cross-border shopping.
LED/lighting superbrightleds.com vleds.com eBay (sometimes) Amazon.ca/com (sometimes Exhausts? ft86speedfactory.com fteightysix.com rallysportdirect.com Wheels? Same as exhaust, plus local shops |
I've had good experiences buying from:
- Counterspace Garage - Mach V Motorsport - ModBargains - Infamous Performance - Tire Rack - Discount Tire Direct Also would not hesitate to buy from: - Element Tuning - FT86speedfactory - RallySport Direct |
Ft86speedfactory
Modbargains And vividracing the only places I've shopped with thus far, other than a few group buys. |
I use FT86speedfactory for all BRZ/FR-S related parts as they're almost always the lowest price, they have speedy shipping, and excellent communication and customer service. They also carry nearly every part you could need; I think the only things I haven't bought from them are my wheels/tires which I got from Jesse Streeter/Tire Rack respectively, custom interior through JPM Coachworks, Carsmo spoiler direct from Carsmo Design, and Vortech S/C kit from Evasive Motorsports because it was several hundred cheaper on their site.
