Roof rack
Hello everyone,
Looking to get a roof rack with the basket install for functional purposes. Does anyone have it done and which supplier are you using? |
what is a roof rack? you mean style rack? j/k lol
I have never seen anyone do it. Yakima and Thule are usually the go to brands. |

I asked my guy over here at rack solid in Santa Monica and both those companies don't make anything specifically for the FRS and BRZ. But here is a photo of it done. I just need to know witch landing pads did they use. Attachment 98242 |
I have an account with https://www.seasucker.com/ not sure if you can adapt bars/basket to it. I could setup a group buy if people were interested.

I did not read through the thread, but this may be of assistance: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15028

My buddy here at rack solid found it. I'm getting it installed as we speak. Yay!!! Snowboarding here I come.
|
Please post pics/updates when done.

Do you have the part numbers for everything? I'm looking to do the same thing but I cannot find the part #'s - still reading all the threads.

this is awesome

@08stiguy I'd like to know the part numbers for the cross bar and mounts please. And also a couple of close up pics of the mounts that secures to the car.....if you don't mind.
I'm planning to throw on a bike carrier on those cross bars. Edit: is this the one you have? http://www.yakima.com/shop/racksyste...-roof/q-towers Apparently the Q-Clips are vehicle specific.....so which ones did you get? |

It looks like you've stuck something to the car that goes under the pads (assuming to protect the paint). What did you use for that? |

You are correct sir 👍🏻I have a bunch of carbon fiber vinyl so I cut some pieces to protect my paint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yes sir, it is the loadwarrior. I like it, except it take two people to put it on and it's quite heavy. I dinged my roof trying to put in on myself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm considering this Curt roof rack since its about half the price of the Yakima considering and I'm only planning on using it a few times a year. [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Curt-18115-Roof-Mounted-Cargo/dp/B004O844DS"]Amazon.com: CURT 18115 Roof Mounted Cargo Rack: Automotive[/ame] |
@08stiguy and @BigFatFlip How do these hold up over time? I am moving from Maine to Texas, and getting a cargo pod seemed kinda appealing. And having a rack for things like kayaks or trips to IKEA.

Overall, still pretty happy with my set-up and will continue to use it (until its REALLY time for a larger car :D) Hope that helps! |
I agree. For a couple of days it's fine. But I wouldn't keep it there permanently. Also, make sure when putting it on you have someone help you. I have a couple of small dings do to me trying to put it on myself hahaha.

Ok, thanks guys!
Yeah, I would be using the pod to move. I went to school there, so the big stuff is already in storage down there, and I'll rent a truck for that. But the pod would be for relatively light and bulky stuff like bedding and clothes. Heavy stuff will stay in the cabin/trunk. But from the sound of things, it may make more sense to just leave some stuff behind and pick it up when I fly up for weddings or holidays. |
Hey guys. My wife got a subaru crosstrek and no longer need the cross bars. Basket we will be keeping. Asking $200

Installation
Does this roof rack install and remove with any parts being permanently installed. Keen to keep the look original when not in use?

It is however discontinued and they stopped recommending it's usage on the twins even when still in production |
