ICBC Insurance estimate
Hey guys about to make a purchase on a 2015 FRS this January. Already got my deposit down, just waiting for its arrival. aNyways, I was just wondering what I should expect my insurance rates to be like. Cause I've been asking around and I'm getting a lot of mixed answers(understandable because of different factors) but if my insurance rates are going to be nearing 5k/yr i would actually reconsider making this purchase
some little facts, I'm a male 19 yrs of age, had my first license(L) in 2011(3 years about), have had no accidents and should be expecting to go with a 2M liability, 1k collision deductible, 500 comprehensive deductible, and have lived in a pretty safe neighbourhood for about 10+ years now. All advice is appreciated, thanks. |
I'm only a few years older and I'm paying close to $3600/yr for just my FR-S but I've got multiple vehicles so that's probably a lower price than if it was my only one.
|
2160/year with 300 for deductible... 23 yr male
|
Mine is about 2200. That comes with 300 deductibles, and a clause that says if I total my car, I get reimbursed for the original purchase price with no depreciation.
I'm 23, male, 2 speeding tickets for 20 over and one not at fault accident on my record. |
Well shit, sounds like I should see about switching insurers.
Edit: I just noticed yall are in Canada which probably has something to do with the difference :P |
Also, I can't remember if BC has provincial or private insurance, but I'd recommend going with BelAir Direct if that's an option.
|
So you're going to buy a car that you don't even know what your insurance rates will be? ...LMAO!!!
If anything, you should be calling your insurance company first to get a quote on said car before you do any sort of car buying haha. inexperienced and 19 years-old, male, sports car, and in Vancouver... yea, you're looking at $5k a year. Sounds about right. |

When I left BC last month I had 5 Mil in liability, $500 deductible comp + coll for $1600 a year. I'm 24 with a clean record and have had insurance with ICBC for 7 years. The best thing to do is just call a broker and they can give you a quick quote.

where's ur insurance company? |
$955 / yr (with multi-car + home + 20% discount) 28yr old male. Looks like I'm winning this race!
But just for the car itself with no multi-car rebates and other discounts I believe the average I was getting was $1400-$1600 from other companies like Bel-air etc. |
You should be able to just call your insurance broker for an estimate.
I did that before I bought my car to figure out my expenses I'm paying about $218 per month |
I am paying just a little more than @Cliu91. Check out TD insurance. I've never seen cheaper

You can see massive differences just by having addresses on the opposite sides of the same street! |
just giving you a head up when i priced out the insurance difference between a 2014 frs and a 2014 brz it was about 480-500 difference annually. I ended up going with the subaru brz because it was cheaper up front and in the long run too. I'm paying around 2000 annually, full discount, 2 mil liability, 600 collision, 500 comp.
I would highly recommend lowering your collision deductible. You don't have much driving experience and i think it would be a wise decision on your part. To each their own though.. |

Now maybe you are all pretty close in your payments I bet there can be some pretty big differences just based on what part of the GTA you live in. |
Illinois guy stumbled upon your guys discussion. 3k a year for insurance? wow I'd never get my BRZ if I had to pay half of the car in insurance :/

The post you were replying to was replying to me about my insurance being the same as his, even though I have things on my record. You made a comment about BC insurance being different, even though in that situation, it has nothing to do with BC insurance, and everything to do with Ontario insurance. Reading comprehension is your friend if you're going to go and quote someone who was making a specific reply to one person and make a remark about something which isn't the case. |

I am 58, driving 42 years no accidents, no tickets , live near square 1 and mine is $1926. for driving to and from work 13 kms. if you want cheap insurance a new corvette is cheaper than a 10 year old Honda civic. go figure. and I am a broker!!

Well since everybody insists in comparing apples to walruses!
Live in a average neighborhood in London, 55 years old, no accidents or tickets, drive over 7000 kilometers a month and pay $1289 a year. That is with paying extra for accident forgiveness, a lower deductible and a couple of other add ons that I do not claim to understand. |
30 year old unmarried male in Vanier, ON. $1177.44 per year. One speeding ticket for 10km/h over the limit from 2013, that's it.

My neighbour is the same age as me and she has an 04 STI with 3 tickets working out to 7 points and she was paying $2900 last year, this year she officially changed her residence to her apartment in waterloo and her rates dropped to $2200… DO NOT cancel your policy because that will only be used against you. just stick with your insurance company and drive safe, once you reach 25 (which is the magical year you become a safe driver) your rates will drop like crazy! |
Canceling a policy only counts against you if you have it canceled by your insurance company.

@Canehda other companies also want your business, so they'll give you a cheaper rate lol

loyalty only counts in claims where the coverage could be denied but they give you a break for loyalty. when your under 25 look everywhere but be sure you divulge any acc;s or tickets. every co changes rates by territory constantly. we get updates on rates for home and auto at a dizzying pace. the biggest rating factor after territory and age is length of time licensed. and yes its true insurance co's still charge more for boys than girls. mostly because boys are more daring and may show off more than girls. from my obersvations in trafficgirls tend to text more but guys tend to be a bit more aggressive plus we tend to upgrade our cars more.no matter the sex there are way too many drivers who are clueless and don't know basic driver etiquette. the overall attitude seems to be " f.u., its all about me"

There is no way to get out of ICBC Insurance because that is the only insurance company for British Columbia. It is already fixed there and no way to get a different company. Tough luck OP, that is the amount you will have to pay for the Twins. The thing to get cheaper would be keeping a clean record and get into that Star Program (I don't know if that what they called).
