Subaruwrxfan's WRB BRZ Limited

Will be picking up my car Friday morning hopefully, just got some pics from the dealer today! Right now my mod plans are pretty basic, might do more later, but I'm mostly going for power mods in this car, while still keeping it NA.
Mod goals:
1. 35% tint
2. Full exhaust
3. Intake
4. Headers
I have a very active YouTube channel and will be taking lots of videos of this car. If there is anything in particular that you would like to see, let me know and I can film it in 1080p for you! My channel link is youtube.com/subaruwrxfan

I swear everyone on this forum either doesn't care about front plates or lives in a no front plate state.

Nice looking car!

Yup.. still not sure if I want to commit and just drill holes or not. Not a fan of the off set mount and haven't seen any other mounting options..

OrbitalEllipses 06-08-2012 04:08 PM

Ticket or holes? Shitty choice, and why I'll likely go with the offset mount.

Zgrinch 06-08-2012 04:14 PM

Sweet, sweet, sweet ride.

was385 06-08-2012 04:29 PM

Stamford subaru in ct told me they used clip on plates. You may be able to call parts and see if you can snag one.

Zgrinch 06-08-2012 04:36 PM

I'm in a state that does not require them, but following all the threads, I thought this looked pretty cool.

The first ride home vibe was great to witness. Less than a week for me. Enoy your ride.

Looks great I would just change the rims and that's it. Looks nice the limited edition brz

was385 06-08-2012 09:48 PM

please don't post pics of it with the tint! I know I'm going to end up spending the money when I see how good it looks.

Subaruwrxfan 06-09-2012 01:26 AM

Well I've driven about 180 miles today on it, love it. Did some very spirited back roads driving tonight, the car really showed it's stuff. The suspension and brakes blew me away. Keeping the car under 4k still so can't comment on power, but there is awesome torque between 2500-3500 that I'm not used to having after coming out of my turbo legacy, always had a little lag, then the torque came on.

I've really fallen in love with the wheels, might keep them on the car forever, I really love the way they look, the sliver parts on the rim are actually much darker. I'd say the 2 colors on the rims are black and gunmetal/dark gray. They look fantastic. Paint felt really good, I've noticed the clunk when putting it into first gear, and all of the gears feel a bit more "mechanical" I guess than I'm used to. Also hear more sounds under the hood and stuff, for example it sounds like a diesel when you slowly drive off from a stop, things like that. Love it though, gonna put another 150 miles or so on it tomorrow.

Everybody has been loving the seats too, they hug me perfectly and have been comfortable all day, no discomfort. The few friends that sat in the car all loved the seats, especially my 2 friends with S2000s. Here's some crappy pics from my phone from tonight's cruise. Have a video of this shoot that will be posted in a day or two. Almost looks like GBS in these pics!

+1, the wheels look really good in person.

Sure thing! I'll do a full feature video of the nav early this week. I used the nav yesterday to drive about 150 miles and it amazed me, way better than the nav in my 2006 Legacy and I'd argue that with the touchscreen it's even better than the luxury car companies systems. The nav interface is way faster and more responsive than that first video that was posted a while ago. It's a really nice unit, and I don't have any complaints at all.

Thanks! I will definitely keep them coming!

The car now has 720 miles on it. Took it down to school with me for the last 3 weeks of my summer class. Car was great, lots of looks from people, it's funny. The best one was this dude that first did a jaw-drop then gave me a huge smile and thumbs up. It was hilarious to watch. I see this stuff when I ride around in my friend's lambos and stuff, but to see it in the BRZ is really cool.

Rain in the forecast for tomorrow so I'll probably film the full tour video of the car on Wednesday.

So the car just passed break-in period last night, and man it's great to finally be able to use the whole engine. Posted a video of my first redline runs:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QKxHpxoTbw"]First Redline Run in my Subaru BRZ! - YouTube[/ame]

A few more impressions of the car. On this recent trip I drove a little over 300 miles and the mechanicals all felt a little "loose", as in not as solid as the car does on short trips. Might just be mental, but it just sounds like more things rattle under the hood if you've been driving the car a while. No driveability issues though. *shrug* Really starting to get to know the car well now, and it's been exactly one week that I've owned it. The more I drive it the more I love it. I'm always jumping at a chance to go out and drive. I've been getting 32 mpg recently, so gas is great, and with the small gas tank, fill-ups are normally 10-15 bucks less than it costs to fill up my legacy, so it's light on my wallet too.

Subaruwrxfan 06-20-2012 05:01 PM

Well some more impressions of the car: I've put over 1,500 miles on the car now. The lack of torque is something that I didn't miss, until I drove my turbo legacy again the other day, and that 250hp 3500 lb sedan felt WAY faster than the BRZ :( The BRZ's steering, handling and braking are still far superior, but it made me start scratching my head again about this car. Also the dead zone in the middle of the rpm range is starting to get on my nerves. My NAV is also having trouble keeping a signal. Throughout the past few months leading up the my car's arrival I was constantly tempted to buy a 2013 Mustang GT. Not saying I hate the BRZ, but I'm not 100% in love with it either. I wanna test drive a Mustang soon and see how it's handling, weight, steering and braking feel.

I would have liked to keep this car N/A but I'm fairly confident that I'll do either a turbo or supercharger next year if I decide to keep this car. I highly doubt that an intake, headers, exhaust and tune will remedy the problems I have with the car's power delivery.

YoshiMike13 06-20-2012 05:05 PM

That. Sir. Was. AWESOME!! I am so jealous of all of you guys haha!

YoshiMike13 06-20-2012 05:06 PM

I read somewhere else on the forum that a turbo/supercharger wouldnt fit in the car. I hope that isnt true!

Turbo won't fit in the usual spot for this motor, but with some elaborate piping solution, I think it can be done. I would be fine with a supercharger, I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that they fit.

YoshiMike13 06-20-2012 05:20 PM

cool!! Man this car is beautiful. I wish i was just like 10 years older or something or at least had some form of income (besides the 350 a month that I make) I belong in a BRZ. I really do. oh well, I guess a miata or a 240sx will have to do for now. I love your videos by the way.

I have 950 miles on my car right now will be heading back home tomorrow on a four hour ride back from Miami....many redlines in my immediate future. I have taken some longer trips within the first 900 miles and my car feels very solid. This recent trip to Miami, the car felt very solid and begging to be opened up. I do understand the power issue in the mid range, but I'm still loving this ride and cannot wait to open it up tomorrow.

Didn't you see the Gazoo Racing twincharged GT86? That alone proves that it can be done.

YoshiMike13 06-20-2012 05:44 PM

Nope I didn't see it. I will look it up now.

tripjammer 06-20-2012 05:54 PM

Damn you don't like it anymore? Wow! But yeah if this car had the 2.0 liter boxer turbo...with like 270 to 300 HP.....daaaaang!

It will happen one day from the factory but not anytime soon.

Subaruwrxfan that doesn't bag on the BRZ because it isn't Turbo or AWD.

I think the world has come to an end. :O

Great vid btw. Car is giving you the smilies. haha

Lol +1 to you for having the patience to wait till after break-in! It's a lot of fun to take it to redline!

I still like it, but the new car "buzz" has worn off for me, so I can be more objective in my analysis of the car now. I'll hang on to it for a little and see if the exhaust/intake/headers/retune make the car better for me. It just sucks, I love everything about this car except that engine, definitely the weak point for me.
