2013 BRZ limited window problems??

Has anyone with a 2013 BRZ Limited been having problems with their windows not operating properly? As soon as the cold hits every winter, my windows fail. The driver's side window doesn't automatically roll back up after opening and closing the door. Also, the power switch on the drivers door stops connecting to the passenger window altogether. Althouh still under warranty through Subaru (and they are fixing it for the nth time), I am worried about out of pocket costs after my extended warranty is up.
First, has anyone had this problem? Also have you had the latest replacement parts and if so, do you think that has solved the problem?
I may try trading it in for something if all else fails. Not sure what else to do here and I love the car other than that

I haven't but then again I live near the beach near Los Angeles.

I do have an issue with the passenger window not "automatically fully opening or closing" when I tap hard both rockers on the driver's door. It seems I have to press down the passenger's window rocker harder than the driver's window rocker.

I also had my alternator die on me 2 weeks ago. The windows would open slightly when I opened the doors, but wouldn't close when I exited :eyebulge:

Use the search button on the forum. You will find your answer. I fixed my windows within seconds.

Just push down on the buttons until the windows roll all the way down. Then pull back up until they completely close and keep the buttons held in the UP position for a few seconds. Your switch will reset. You're welcome.

That is normal, on the twins when there is something preventing the window form moving (e.g. ice) it'll do that. You know how when your windows are frozen, you have to like yank it out of the rubber seal when you open the door? I think the fail function is there to prevent damage or something...
Do what torqueno says, you'll probably have the issue a number of times in the winter lol. Maybe try putting a light layer of olive oil on the edge of the windows so it doesn't freeze, don't know if it actually works though xD

good luck

Sounds like a pretty annoying problem. Ill see if that happens to me this year. First time having the car in winter so. Fingers crossed

I haven't had that problem since they did the TSB for the windows.

Thanks but I've tried resetting and its a much bigger problem. The dealership is having to replace the entire window unit which has taken almost 2 weeks between ordering parts. I hope it fixes the problem :(
I'm interested if anyone has had the same replacements from the newest recall that is out for this. :(

Wow, that sucks. Let us know how everything turns out! Best of luck, stay warm.

The owners manual, try reading it OP.

Update: my BRZ is now fixed after replacing just about everything connected to the driver's side window. I'm waiting from Subaru corporate to review my case of all the repairs I've had since buying it. They are supposedly going to be giving me a consolation offer...not sure if that means they will give me an extended warranty for the windows on top of my warranty or trading the vehicle completely (not likely...). There's still no guarantee the windows won't break again.

Well there is that. Hopefully the problem is fixed.

Wow thats a bummer. I had that happen actually to my car a couple weeks ago too, it snowed here and it was in the single digits for a couple days and the auto windows wouldn't work for about a week. couldn't roll down the passenger window from the driver's side, and no auto windows worked. The auto light on the window switches would flash as well. I made an appointment with subaru because of the window and I had a small oil leak but before my appointment they started working again.

I tried the reset trick but it didn't do anything, just magically started working a couple days after that :/

There's something to this. I just signed the papers on a BRZ in Japan and the base warranty is 5 years 100000km, but not of on things like wiring lights and windows. Those were only for 3 years and I would have to pay extra for 2 more years of coverage I joked that I already had an RX7 with sketchy wiring and windows, WTF? Then I paid the extra.

This is exactly what happened early on with my windows until they majorly failed this time and never started working again. They keep updating the "bulletin" (aka recall!!) to include other repairs and parts to fix the problem. So far (~1 week) since getting my BRZ back, the windows seem fine but I'm not holding my breath.

My passanger window wasnt working yesterday from my drivers side buttons. I rolled it down using the button on my passanger side but then it wouldn't go back up using the same side. I went back to the drivers side buttons and got it to roll up. I'm just not going to roll it down until winter is over. Drivers side works no problem.
