What options can be dealer fitted to the GT?

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows which of the upgrades on the GTS can be fitted to the GT?

I'm hoping things like LED running lights and the Keyless start can be optioned by the dealer?

Altho I'm kind of doubtful on the keyless start.. lol

Cheers
Robert

probably nothing at first.

maybe the rear spoiler down the track... Trd bits, special order.

this is taken from media launch booklet

"The 86 GT comes with halogen headlamps as standard while high-grade 86 GTS has high intensity discharge headlamps and LED (light emitting diode) daytime running lights (DRLs).
The 86 GTS also has a headlamp washer and foglamps in the lower section of the front bumper.
On GT grade, DRLs are fitted in the same position as the foglamps on GTS."

From that i gather that both models will have DRL's (what your calling LED running lights) the difference being that the GTS has them integrated where as GT has them inplace of fogs

DRL doesn't have to be LEDs. the GT has DRL but non LED.

Is the rear spoiler standard on the GTS? I didn't think it was. I know in the UK it is

No, the spoiler is not standard on the GTS. The only spoiler currently available....sigh....is the ugly massive coat hanger type one /vomit and only as part of the aero kit on the GTS as a factory fitted option which we still don't have pricing for but we've been told we will have pricing for the aero kit before the 18th of June.

Interesting. I thought the GT didn't have any DRL's at all. Anyone got a picture of the GT with the DRL's on?

check out the reviews on the net. basically it looks the same as the fog lights on the GTS but it's purpose is DRL.

Correct, by the way the DRL's on either car cannot be turned off.

Billy2224 06-05-2012 03:33 AM

2 questions guys.. for the DRLs i saw some sort of flickering mode in a few videos with the LED ones. Curious into how you do that or if its just possibly the camera??..

and second, could someone maybe guess the price of the spoiler? thanks :)

tlp 06-05-2012 03:35 AM

Oh right. So just basically a fog light that's on during the daytime. I thought it was in the headlight. How gay.

There's a couple threads on this forum of the FR-S guys that did a DRL Delete.

Nardi330 06-05-2012 03:41 AM

after paying for the extra, i don't want my LED DRLs off lol

flickering would likely require some aftermarket modules.

lol no it's just that the camera's frequency is faster than the frequency of the LEDs (or is it the other way). it's similar phenomenon where on TV it looks like the wheels on a car are spinning backwards when it's obviously going forward. hope i haven't just confused you even more :bonk:

EDIT: it's called the Stroboscopic Effect

I saw these from videos officially from either Toyota launches or Toyota promotion videos. Stock standard car.
Watch form 0:34 in this video, ive seen similar but on both lights instead. Quite strange....

That looks like some sort of short circuiting going on as it's only on the one side.

Billy2224 06-05-2012 04:04 AM

That shouldn't be happening, its pretty worrying instead hahaha

tlp 06-05-2012 04:46 AM

If you knew someone pretty nifty with electronics it wouldn't be hard to wire something in to make it flicker like that. Obviously forget the warranty if you burn the car down due to an electrical fire. Nevertheless an option! :P

Back on the original topic though I don't think dealers are allowing for options to be fitted at this stage. Maybe one of the dealers can chime in on this?

Staticfrost 06-05-2012 04:52 AM

...um options... There is probley a couple i can think of, boot floor matt, weather shields, tint, paint protection.

They have different specs... so if you want the keyless start you have to get the GTS.

Standard equipment includes seven airbags, a five-mode stability control system, traction control, anti-skid brakes, 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, air-conditioning, CD sound system, daytime running lamps (DRLs) and a multi-information display.

The 86 GTS has extra 17-inch alloy wheels, a 6.1-inch display screen, satellite navigation with live traffic updates, auto-levelling HID headlamps, leather-accented front seats, dual-zone climate-control air-conditioning, aluminium pedals, LED DRLs and red stitching highlights.

*I am not a dealer, all this is just a guess

I await NewFT86 to chime in for conformation.

tlp 06-05-2012 05:15 AM

Most of what you listed are accessories.

Pplater 06-05-2012 05:48 AM

Why not go warrick farm Toyota and get ur 86 from them along with some trd bits I'm sure they will work something out. I'm gonna do this and idk if anyone else

Correct Static' Keyless start is not an optional extra, neither are the headlights and i say headlights for the GTS DRL's cos' that's where they're located. it may be possible at some stage to replace the headlights on a GT with GTS ones but i'm guessing it won't be cheap and very unlikely to be offered as an option on build.

Window Tint, Paint Protection are dealer fitted options.
Carpet floor mats, boot liners, weather shields, headlight covers, bonnet protectors, possibly fog light protectors, roof racks (heaven forbid), etc. will most likely be factory optional accessories as well as merchandise like t shirts, caps, etc.

By the way, there is no current option for a separate rear spoiler except that awful thing on the aero kit - at this time there is no indication from TMCA that the aero kit can be split into it's component parts.

TRD parts will be available towards the end of the year/beginning of next year.

I have been in touch with a few aftermarket modding companies and they're very keen to have some locally produced kits/parts/accessories for you guys the moment they can set it up.

-> Wouldn't suggest this as it is illegal if you don't fit the washers and the auto leveling stuff...(painful)

Billy2224 06-06-2012 07:17 AM

does anyone have an idea on the pricing of the small spoiler??

JiB 06-06-2012 07:22 AM

trd.jp selling them for 40,000 yen, a bit under $500, comes painted black or white, or unpainted. its the transport i'm unsure of

What are the mags like on the GT? Seen some photos of the GTS, man it looks good.
Also, the GT manual definitely comes with the LSD?
