I was on hand last week at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and was able to capture some more undercarriage photos of the car. This is my second occassion seeing the FT-86 concept coupe in person and it was no less exciting or attractive this time. There simply were no other cars at the motor show which matched the FT-86's size, sporty nature, and potential as a serious sports coupe in its intended price range. Enjoy the photos.

cool pics but, i can't tell much from the undercarriage shots.

djohnson 10-09-2010 07:15 PM

225/40/R19 mmmm.... Guess we officially know the wheel size now? And it seems Bridgestone has a fair chunk of the market for the factory size on the floor there.

Doty0588 10-09-2010 09:19 PM

So do we know for sure that that thing with the yellow tape/sticker on it sticking down underneath the engine is the oil filter, still does not make any sense to me.

Matador 10-09-2010 10:32 PM

While it's just a concept and we can't expect it to be mechanically accurate, this mockup is either fwd, or it employs an LFA style, stacked exhaust and drive shaft (well torque tube in the case of the lfa..but you get the idea). Be that the case, I must say, fucking awesome.

Graphical reference in case i left you confused.

FU!@# 19inch rims...

I was hoping for 17's...and the brakes don't seem like it will fit anything smaller than 18's if the rims in the pics are 19's:mad0260:

70NYD 10-10-2010 01:26 AM

The thing with the Jack sticker looks like the diff, you can see the rear diffuser is there
;)
The one on the front... I dunno looks like bottom of the sump or a mocked up jacking point for front
But if that's the filter.. Then damn that's good and easy to change :)

Champion 10-10-2010 02:56 AM

Hmmm. All I saw at first was the potential lay to the right in the first pic.

DanZilla 10-10-2010 03:00 AM

Looks good, I'm still excited for this car to come out. I wonder if it did come out with 19 inch rims, what would be the tire options lol

TeemuT 10-10-2010 04:01 AM

:coolpics:

It is RWD, driveshafts are visible behind the stabiliser bar in the back. And I think the last rear undershot even shows the longnitudal driveshaft a little and it is over the exhaust system, I hope this doesn't narrow down the drivers space too much. The thing that I wonder the most is that while it seems like a multilink rear suspension, the stabiliser bar supports are on the assumed suspension arms and would hence move along with them??

Maeby you should have asked them to jack the car up a little so that you could have gotten better pics :bellyroll:

dmon 10-10-2010 07:30 AM

There should be smaller dimension, too.
I live in area where winter tires are a requirement and I checked if winter tires 225/40/19 are available. Well they're not :) At least where I checked.
So if they want to sell this car in snowy areas, they'll have to make them smaller, too.

No worries, it's a concept car, which almost always has larger wheels than the production will get.

C-Bone 10-10-2010 03:15 PM

Nice pics, everytime something new comes out makes me want it more and more... Cant wait for some new pics of the G-Sports model, mmmm..... G-Sports

WingsofWar 10-10-2010 06:03 PM

Im pretty excited about the removable undertray alongside the undercarriage. This thing must channel some serious air.

I hope the production model comes with it and not up the price because of the materials.

djohnson 10-10-2010 06:45 PM

If that is the oil filter sticking out below, I forsee skid plates coming standard from the factory. I can just picture someone going too fast through a pothole or over a speedbump and tearing the filter off. Or running into the curb.

70NYD 10-10-2010 07:53 PM

Filter relocation kit Will Work just fine :)

Doty0588 10-10-2010 10:48 PM

Do we know if this is supposed to be using the block from the new engine that subaru has developed, or is this going to be a dedicated thing?

no_name 10-11-2010 09:55 AM

I dont really care what the brand is, but it better be a good car at 25k since it's only direct competition, the 2.0T Genesis Coupe, starts at 22k and can be had with Brembos, 19s and an LSD for under 24k. And by the time this reaches American shores, the the Genesis Coupe will probably have a variant of the Sonanta's new 270hp 2.0T

So here's my prediction for this to make any sense at all:
2.0: 20-22k
2.0T: 25k

Blokatos 10-11-2010 10:30 AM

Big wheels will have negative impact in performance and handling too.
I don't think Toyota will go above 17", hopefully option for 16" too for winter tyres...

It'd be more like 2.0 - $23K, 2.0T - $27k. And I'd bet that you couldn't get a turbo the first year either.

Maybe a stripper track version @ $22k. Maybe. It's Toyota, you won't get it better than that.

funnybus3rd 11-20-2010 03:37 PM

Awesome car but....

the brakes are gonna get dirty very fast , hahaha.... i hope the car stays with its low price ..

NikostC 11-21-2010 01:15 PM

That's pretty nice how the exhaust and everything is painted black. I wonder if it will be like that in the production model?
and I wonder if they would sell me that concept model right now? :D

That's when I plan on buying it. A year after it's been out. Got to see what road blocks and quirks happen with it in the first year, and what companies do with the platform.

True. And even if 19"s are available, they'll be for some kind of sport package version, much like the Genesis Coupe's Track and R-Spec models. But I doubt Toyota will go that tall for production.

Most likely it'll get 17"s. They was a thread with a poll sometime aback.

Thanks a lot for your comments *Blushes*

It's our dream my friends, one day it'll be real ! :)

PHATsuby 11-27-2010 08:20 PM

that yellow thing sticking down appears to likely be a pad for a jack point since the car is so low. The oil pan and exhaust manifold is definitely a subaru motor, but can't say if its NA or turbo obviously.

I find it humorous how somewhat hacked looking the exhaust looks for a show car.

DAMN !!
i dont have money:offtopic:

Chibi86 11-29-2010 02:51 PM

It's definitly N/A, there is no Intercooler in the Bumper. The Turbo is only the GS version.
