So this guy at work
So this guy at work his car is better in evryway he has a Audi TT roadster 2003 4cilander turbo .... I'm pretty sure the frs being only 200hp could still take this car any thoughts guys also note that Ive driven his car before and I doubt it still makes the same power it did 11 years ago didn't feel fast in a straight line either ... He says it also has better handiling and wants to bet 500 bucks on this lone 2 or 3 mile curvy road here to see who reaches the end first I'm all for it but what do you guys think... we decided to do it at a autocross instead
|
I raced a friend on back roads once. That's how I totalled my MR2...

"his car is better in everyway":laughabove:
but NO:bellyroll: its a Audi TT... |
Take the challenge to an autocross event.
FYI, your posts are hard to understand without reading them many times and trying to interpret what you actually mean... |

I know it's hard, but please try your very best to not fulfill the pre-adolescent, wannabe street-racer stereotype that seems to accompany our cars...

I asked about a autocross event and i think thats what were guna go with instead ive never done it before is there any prep i have to do to my car before i take there ? And even if we did race on public roads it wouldnt be what you think were not both guna get in our cars at the same time and have at it .. simply time our time on that road riding in the same car i think thats not as bad and i know theres roads where some of you guys actualy go fast and see what you can do im not guna kill myself going past my limit over 500 bucks either... so the real question is do you think his car is better i know theres more variables to the out come like driver skill and all that but comparing cars witch is the better car

Punctuation marks, please! It's very hard to read your posts.
I highly suggest taking it to an autocross event. Hitting cones will do much less damage than flying into a ditch. Or even worse, hitting someone else. Winning will really come down to the driver. A highly experienced driver can whoop you in a 1995 Civic DX all day if you have no experience. |

Check to see what your co-workers driving experiences are. If he goes on canyon runs, race tracks, or auto-cross regularly, then don't race him. He will beat you no matter what car. If he has little to no experience, then take the $500 challenge. It would be a lot of fun. |

Ok basically, what I'm saying is: If you've never really raced a car before or driven your FR-S at its limits, then you're probably not going to win this race of yours. The FR-S is not a fast car to begin with, so it takes quite some skill and experience to make it go fast. You may think you know how to drive it fast, but chances are you're not gonna be ready when your rear-end slides out on you. I just don't want you crashing your new car into a tree because some dude talked smack about your car (get used to it). If you want to challenge him at autocross, then go ahead. It'll be fun, but just don't be surprised if you have to shell out the 5-hundo. |

I'm not sure but, in some way are you afraid of losing the $500? You keep asking for our answer in whether the twin can out perform an old gen TT. If you're kind of tallying up how many support this and with this newly acquired information off a biased website towards the '86 you end up taking the bet with confidence. You're going to have a bad time. If you honestly believe that he doesn't have the skill to match his boasting, just take the bet at the autocross. I don't think any one of us here can give you an answer. There are WAY too many underlying variables that exist. For example:
Both cars are stock, but what if he had stickier and wider tires than you on autox day? Easy $500 from you. |
These are the sort of threads to expect as used twin prices put them within reach of subprime borrowers.

So basically I was just looking for suggestion and I'm glad I made this post cause I honestly never even thought about auto x. |
Be the bigger man and quit letting him bait you. I get a bad feeling about all of this machismo.
Audi-guy sounds like an asshole. Just smile and tell him how right he is. |

Sounds like you're pretty easy to get to, maybe he's just joking around and you're taking it the wrong way. Might be a fun car guy to know if you tried to befriend him.
