Haters gonna Hate...vandalism on our FR-S

I just bought a used 13 Scion FR-S last week. My son is a senior and drives to school in the car. First day he comes home with a "door ding" under the driver side mirror. He swears nobody was parked next to him. Oh well, what are you gonna do, right? Car isn't perfect.

Today, he comes home from school with a "door ding" on the hood of the car...WTF???

So F'n pissed....:mad0260:

Gonna talk to school tomorrow since they have video survielence.

Stay tuned....

Mr Kirmudget 11-12-2014 08:20 PM

At least it hasn't been egged/fished, @brzbrad has some stories about that. I just don't get why people have to be stupid, hopefully you'll find out who did it.

dnieves 11-12-2014 08:35 PM

What's fished?

Obja 11-12-2014 08:36 PM

I've had chocolate ice cream dried on my hood. Good thing I have a clear bra and it wiped out easily.

GLADIATOR 11-12-2014 08:48 PM

Thanks...I feel a little better now.

Tcoat 11-12-2014 08:50 PM

Hey Gla.
Did you get any pics? You would be amazed at what we have figured out on here before with just some pictures to go on.

Obja 11-12-2014 08:57 PM

I think you like to think it's jealousy.

Most people don't know it is a $20K car!
Most people don't know it is a "slow" car.
Most people don't know there are two Twins
Most people don't know squat about these cars.
We as "car guys" know these things and seem to assume that everybody else does as well. This is so far from reality it is ridiculous!

I think you like to think it's jealousy.

1. They don't know it's a $20,000 used car (it's around $26,000 new, and looks even more expensive), therefore jealous, therefore vandalize

2. They think that the owner thinks that they are hot shit, but don't deserve to since the car ain't that fast/expensive, therefore contempt, therefore vandalize

3. They mad because their parents didn't buy them a flashy sports car in high school, therefore jealous, therefore vandalize

4. They like something but they don't own it, therefore "other people can't have nice things either", therefore vandalize

the list goes on...

Somebody doesn't like my son, the car, or both. REgardless, it's about someone Fn with our car that we are paying for. Whatever their motovation is...doesn't justifiy their actions. Unless I slept with their mom ...thennnn, I might understand a little.:iono:

I hate stories like yours, @GLADIATOR.

Time for a hard wired motion/bump activated dashcam. Good ones are available for well under $100.

I would soooooo pay to see dashcam footage of some idiot freshman screwing with the car then getting tazed

chas3wba0 11-12-2014 09:44 PM

Why not get your son a properly modest beater to drive to school instead?

Demandred7 11-12-2014 09:47 PM

I find carelessness frustrating with door dings, let alone, purposeful vandalism. I would lose my $hit. Even more so if I witnessed someone actually doing it. People are F'd in the head. Unless I'm taking up two spots, there is no justification for it.

We did. He had a 2000 jetta but it literally was falling apart for the past two years. It was time to step up.

I was in a mall parking lot and saw an old Durango had parked unnecessarily close to me, I always make sure to park near the back of parking lots to avoid this kind of situation. There were plenty of open spots around me and most were closer to the mall, but they parked about five inches away from me. I went up to my car, and sure enough, there was some extra red paint and some of my paint chipped off. It was in a place by the fender that is only noticeable to me, but I made sure to leave a note for them. It said something to the effect of, "Thanks (license plate #) for the red paint! Rest assured that I will find out who you are and you should be expecting a bill soon. From, the guy who parks in the back of parking lots so assholes like you don't need to pay for your lack of intelligence."

I had no intentions of finding them/making them pay, but they deserved to think that for a while. I just wish I could have seen their face when they read it.

Amazing that people do things like this on a regular basis it seems

In South Africa you are more likely to have your car stolen than vandalized

Most times you are genuinely surprised to find your car still where you parked it

I own a Toyota Fortuner. In Pretoria, apparently there are 36 stolen per day. That just one city... Considering selling it now...

you bought your 17 year old a sports car. Sounds like you should put it in a time capsule instead.

Seriously, try and take a step back and calm down. Every little ding is not "haters gonna hate" lmao

A falling acorn can dent these cars, you know that?

With willful disregard such as this it would tempt me respond in kind by stoving my fist into the side of their car (providing no witnesses).

He is 18, honor roll straight a student. Three sport athlete. Works in the summer. This isn't a spoiled brat rich kid getting a car. I am the furthest from the Forbes list as you can imagine. I can forgive door dings...but now someone hit the hood? We are a hardcore hot rod family. Cars are our passion.

This does suck to see any car you love get messed up. BUT, and no offense, Its a flashy car parked at a HIGH SCHOOL. What did you expect? If you parked that thing around some of the high schools here, you would be lucky to have your windshield intact and no key marks from headlight to taillight on both sides.
Hell, it might not have even been on purpose. Kids don't pay attention to anything. They could have been throwing a football around in the parking lot and it bounced off the hood. If you want a garage queen, then treat it like one. Otherwise, just be smart about where you park/drive it and do the best you can.

53Driver 11-13-2014 09:55 AM

Based off your screen name, your son isn't a bully by chance is he? Maybe someone trying to get even...

But seriously, I would never give a high school child a "nice" car to drive to school. Kids will be "kids" and contrary to popular belief, kids can be very evil/mean to each other. A bicycle might be a good option or riding the school bus. When I was in high school, I didn't even have a car. I had to walk to school, uphill, barefoot, in the snow...

With all that being said, I hate vandals and thiefs. They have always struck me as cowards.
