looking for lug nuts . any suggestions?

Hi, my bf has a brz and i wanted to get him good lug nuts for his new rims.

He mentioned something about red sr 48 lug nuts a while ago. I have no idea what this is or where to get them. I'm from Mississauga, Ontario

Any suggestions on what kind of brand/ model I should get?

I don't mind spending around 300 for them.

Thanks!

He may be referring to the Muteki SR48 red series. You need to ensure to get the right length and type for the wheels.

Any idea which wheels he has? You can post a pic of them and I am sure people here will help you figure it out

I see them on Amazon and should be around $70-80

I've had 2 sets of Kics Project lug nuts. They are a bit pricey, but IMO worth it. Lightweight, strong, unique locking nut. Not to mention they look cool. But in all honestly, any lug nut from a reputable company will work. They're more of a 'bling' item than anything.

I've got black Muteki short open lugs. Haven't failed me yet and I've probably removed/reinstalled them about 3 dozen times at this point. They are cheap too!

Any conical lug nuts should work. If you are ok with used I'm selling some Project Kics R40s in Neo Chrome. As stated above the Project Kics ones are not cheap but they are good lug nuts.

I've used the Muteki's before also and they are perfectly fine as well.

Basing it on this, I have the STI rims (Series.Blue). Does anyone know which size lug nuts I would need? Looking for all black ones to complete it. There are just so many different models and sizes to these nuts, it's confusing. Any help is appreciated!

The SR48s are not $300. They are $68.18 on Amazon with free shipping. I linked to the page above.

The question is, does he want those $250 lug nuts you linked? She says he told her he wanted some red SR48s. I think she should get him what he wants, not some ridiculously expensive nuts in the wrong color that he might not actually like.

Project Kics or bust!

mcguard.
Spline drive.

-Don't get ones for aftermarket wheels and put them on your stock wheels as they wont seat right.
-Do get aftermarket conical ones for aftermarket wheels.
-the mguards I had on my sti never tarnished in dc winters with hour plus long commutes and tons of salt.
-the part that seats on the wheel moves separate from the rest of the nut so that the wheels don't get scratched.
-the Subaru sti branded ones are these...so they are oem quality.
-project kics are super expensive for what they are
-mutely ones are safe but slightly cheesy. In the past they had finishes that came off over time. They might be better now.
-saving weight by buying lightweight lug nuts is silly. Take a piss before getting in the car and you will notice the same difference.

I also wanted to not sound like the grumpy old man here and commend you on the effort of researching a gift for your boyfriend. Many would not got to this length.

Uhmm oem wheels are conical like aftermarket ones in our case. These aren't Hondas with ball seat wheels.

It's worth noting that the difference between those two kits is that the one on Amazon has locks. The lock kit is $40 by itself, so that's not a bad deal at Amazon. (I actually bought a set of these for my own car.)

But again, the guy may not like spline drive nuts. I think she should get him what he wants, even if that's bright red SR48s.

Stang70Fastback 11-11-2014 10:23 PM

Ok. I'm about to ask two very lazy questions because I really don't feel like pulling a wheel off of my BRZ.

Just received by winter tires on steelies from TireRack. They came with small, open-ended lug nuts. I don't really want to use open-ended lugs as I want to protect the studs from rusting. I suppose if all else fails, I could just smear a bit of grease on the protruding studs every so often.

Q1: The lugs that came with the steelies are the tapered (not rounded) base lugs. Are the stock lugs on the BRZ tapered as well? (I have a Series.Blue, which has different wheels, so maybe that's difficult for most of you to answer offhand, I dunno.)

Q2: I assume the stock lugs are not to be used because they aren't deep enough to properly seat against the thin steelie. Can someone point me to a nice set of black lug nuts on Amazon that will be deep enough for my steelies, and that I can maybe use for the stock wheels come spring if they do indeed have the same base style?

Bonus Q: Why the hell doesn't the spare tire require separate lugs if the stock ones bottom out?!

I own a wrb brz with the sti kit, and just recently got the rota titans flat black. Should I get lack lugs or should I pick something that'll add a little color? Sr35 blue or chrome?

If you want performance and don't need locks CSG Chromoly: http://counterspacegarage.com/produc...s-m12x125.html
