My first (and only mod)

....and one you should consider strongly, too. I hate this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...n/c25f76d8.jpg

These ugly things are painted on, not stickers, so they will most definitely not peel off. So I used some commonly available sticky-back sheets of felt available at any craft store (this is "Presto Felt" brand),

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...n/3056aba7.jpg

Used a metal ruler and a sharp knife to cut 10cm x 12cm rectangles, and round off the corners with a scissors.

And now I have this!

Now my modding career is essentially over...

Cheers,

Dave

Why did you not just remove the sticker? :)

A lot of the cars now have them embossed into the material, it's not actually a sticker.

cmspooner 06-02-2012 11:30 PM

You should have done the whole side of the sun visor. The little rectange looks a wee bit tacky for my taste.

+1

Tough crowd, I guess!

Rest assured, these look much, much, less noticeable in person than these pics make them appear. Black on black, you'd probably never notice them if not looking directly for them. And hey -- even if they did stick out: IMO, they're certainly still better than those garish yellow warning labels!

ichitaka05 06-03-2012 12:56 AM

Never cared for those warning sticker... BUT interesting mod.

Thanks for sharing

PERRIN_ADAM 06-03-2012 01:03 AM

Why is this the only mod to the car? Must be SOMETHING else that is tempting right?

Sportsguy83 06-03-2012 01:04 AM

WOW... some people do have OCD

serith 06-03-2012 01:05 AM

Wouldn't a black sharpie be easier?

It doesn't come out clean

ChrisOkc8 06-03-2012 02:40 AM

Just remove the visor. Weight reduction! :D

naticedog04 06-04-2012 08:21 PM

maybe duplicolor flat or gloss black interior paint might work better??? you may have to "skuff" the bottom side a bit but it might look "cleaner" than a patch?
this is just a suggestion, not something i've done before on my car cause i dont mind the warning label, but i've seen in done on another car...

:laughabove:

That warning label used to be on the inside so it's funny to see it on the outside now.

The felt patch looks even worse IMHO.

ft86Fan 06-04-2012 08:50 PM

Hate to say it but it looks better before. The yellow goes well with the black

bazguitarman 06-04-2012 09:38 PM

Good mod.

I hate those warning prints. The bad thing is when the car is older the print will dry out and start flaking off. It does it on my Mazda. Everytime I look around there is little flakes of yellow in my car. Blah.

What you have done is illegal, similar to removing the tag from your mattress. I am turning you in.

That mattress tag thing has to be the stupidest urban legend of all time. Do people not know how to read?

I knew you were being facetious it's just that, as a rocket surgeon, the matress tag thing really annoys me. ;)

ngabdala 06-05-2012 12:28 AM

When will this kit be mass produced for the rest of us?

Any pricing yet?

I'd pay some serious cash

Are they silk screened? Paper towel soaked with brake cleaner, wait a minute or two, rub and wipe them off.

Buncha frickin' newbs around here. Jeez.

YES! Are we going to do a group buy? :)

86design 06-05-2012 02:46 AM

never noticed it before lol

JDM_Badge 06-05-2012 04:44 AM

I am planning on wrapping the entire visor with black matte finish vinyl wrap. It won't flake off, won't create glare, and it will look OEM. If I ever sell the car, the wrap can be removed, not that the new owner would want to.

Prava 06-05-2012 07:33 AM

I have never heard one single complaint about these. "Bro, aren't you gonna remove the airbag warnings? Lol. They're pretty corny..." Never.

RaceR 06-05-2012 10:16 AM

Some people takes the badges of their car for a cleaner look. Some put tape over (warning) lights so they will not see them. Some put chrome rings and stuff on the dashboard/instruments. Some paint spray stuff under the bonnet. Many pay thousands on mods that will only please the eye.
Detailers use hundreds on car care products, some use time to clean every inch of their car..
People do lots of stuff to make their car nicer and individualize it.

Here we see one simple nice low cost mod.
Thanks for sharing you mod, avusblue! Dont bother with the haters..

JERZgrl88 06-05-2012 10:29 AM

I would have just left it the way it was...what if someday someone tries to peel it off and it's all yuck and nasty underneath? I understand it's just a sticky felt sheet but ya never know what the temperature can do to it. Oh well...
