Chinese OEM wheels/tires

Hey,
I just got my Toyota 86, it comes with 205/55/16 yokohama tires here, dont know the wheel width. I am planning to get some 17*9 concave wheels with 245/40 neovas, i read that there would be no problem about fitment with stock suspension and coilovers but just concerned if cars they export to China has different setup.:search:
Does anyone have information?

N1rve 10-12-2014 01:38 AM

Can you take a picture of the wheels?

Fizz 10-12-2014 05:14 AM

Your 16" wheels would be identical to the JDM "G" spec, as well as the AUDM "GT" spec. Wheels are 6.5" wide with +48 offset.

I doubt the suspension setup would differ for the relatively small numbers they expect to sell in the Chinese market. Even the AUDM models get JDM spec suspension, and we're the 3rd highest selling market for this car.

I didnt know that there were 16" wheels in Europe (AUDM=Europe domestic market?).
I guess you are right about Chinese market, didnt see much, but not sure, the quantity souldnt be underestimated.

So you guess setup would be same and i can fit 17*9s to stock setup without problem, right?
And are the 245/40/17 neovas ok, couse i heard that they are wider than standard, or should i go with 235s?

ofuts 10-12-2014 07:51 AM

The reason i want 9" width is mostly visual, want to have concave faces but there are no concaves lower than 9"s, partly traction, will install supercharger soon. Not going to push the car to limits on daily driving, maybe one trackday every month or two and will not be competitive, just for fun.

On stock suspension you will need offset under +40, or you may rub, this is more or less generally noted by most here. Alignment (camber) dependent as well.

EAGLE5 10-12-2014 10:44 AM

I'd swap my stock 17"s for your stock 16" in a minute. Too bad we're separated by an ocean. Skype only works for calls, sadly. :)

Actually i'm interested in these two wheels, they say no promlem with stock setup.
I can do with a little camber i guess if there is a problem, wouldnt prefer though, would waer off the inside quickly i think.

chaoskaze 10-12-2014 12:05 PM

PLZ SELL ME UR 16" OEM! lol Those are enkis

ofuts 10-13-2014 01:43 AM

Why do you guys want these wheels so bad?

EAGLE5 10-13-2014 12:04 PM

Better ride, but still OEM. Be special in America, where nobody has those wheels.

underpowered 10-13-2014 10:46 PM

I wouldn't mind a set of these to put snow tires on.

I bought a set from a guy in japan. I just want 16" oem wheels on my car and I like how they look more than the stock 17" scion wheels. I want more sidewall

sam69 10-14-2014 12:58 AM

You see these 16" wheels come up for sale quite often here in Oz on gumtree and ebay and pretty cheap as well at times .

troek 10-14-2014 09:07 AM

i could probably track down a set for somebody, as they are everywhere here, probably run as much as an aftermarket set of wheels though. btw, @brianhj how you liking those wheels?

nikitopo 10-14-2014 09:57 AM

The OEM 16'' wheels are pretty light and they made by ENKEI. They weight 15.8 pounds.

Havent been to a track yet, didnt drift properly too, so can not say for sure, but should have as standard.

Ok, thanks. I think some cars outside the US can be purchased without an LSD, but I wasnt sure.

troek 10-16-2014 04:53 AM

Mine came with an open diff

OnionTou 10-16-2014 11:49 AM

How do you know for sure if it's open diff?

troek 10-16-2014 06:24 PM

because i read the specs when i bought it, and i said, hey i wana upgrade to the torsen, and the said ok, give me more money. also, the non torsen diff comes with the same final drive as the AT. 3.8xx or something like that.

damn.. you can get really cheap replica wheels in china from taobao. lucky

Mr.Ferret 10-16-2014 06:54 PM

someone asked earlier but ADM = Australian Domestic Market, not Europe.

Also at least for us we have two specs, GT and GTS, gt has these 16" wheels, and the Automatic GT does not have an LSD, the MT GT does have an LSD as do both the auto and MT GTS.

Source: Got my MT GT last month!

vividracing 10-16-2014 07:23 PM

WOW! I did not know they came with 16 over seas, its like find the secret 2nd outlet all over again!

Yes you are right, they are lightweight too, but i am sure they have no standards and they are low quality, so i would never risk it and buy Chinese replicas for something so crucial for safety like wheels.

sam69 10-17-2014 11:07 AM

Set of these going cheap on Oz ebay atm ... .ebay.com.au/itm/Toyota-GT86-Wheels-4-OEM-16-inch-Subaru-BRZ-Celica-/191369618162?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item 2c8e84a2f2
