What's your top speed?

Seems like since I bought the car I'm either flooring it or on here looking what my car could be so in curious what's the fastest you've driven? Specify track or road and if you've got any mods

Me 125 on the freeway and I'm all stock... For now

@Art_Mighty 10-08-2014 05:59 PM

I got to 127 GPS confirmed stock with the AT

tyrantcf 10-08-2014 06:00 PM

put flame suit on.

53Driver 10-08-2014 06:01 PM

I live my life a quarter mile at a time.

lol...so about 75mph?

continuecrushing 10-08-2014 06:05 PM

I got up to about 110 in a school zone once, took a while though cause I had to build up speed passing through Make A Wish Foundation parking lot(lots of speed bumps)

I've got:
Lightweight crank pully
Sound tube delete
Catback

Sounds legit. :D

ZionsWrath 10-08-2014 06:06 PM

OP, highest speed I register on OEM GPS is 126 :iono:

It is kind of irrelevant, what are your lap times and where can you improve?

So about 80 mph at a time?

You must have NOS, I only made it to 90 at my local elementary school.

Oh, so you're the guy on YouTube screaming "don't taze me bro".

Rapiddan45 10-08-2014 06:46 PM

I hit 25mph once going around the Walmart parking "track". It was pretty intense.

VakaGT 10-08-2014 06:49 PM

128. Reckless driving ticket confirms it

Honesty time.

It was slightly downhill.

Plus, the kid I hit in a wheelchair might have helped, as I think one of the wheels got stuck under the chassis in a way that reduced rolling resistance.

Oakhenshield 10-08-2014 07:26 PM

110.. race with a friend we just got off from work around 4:40am still cant beat him im all stock while he got mods plus im new to racing.

Tcoat 10-08-2014 08:07 PM

88 MPH but then found myself in 1955!
Yep, you can thank me for Johnny B Good!

g e 10-08-2014 09:53 PM

I hit the speed of light last weekend... Saw lots of "trails", heard some weird music and in the end saw a gigantic jar with what looked like a fetus inside it. Don't remember much else.

Can't wait to add my turbo and go even faster!

raul 10-08-2014 10:08 PM

129 at Roebling Road Raceway.

Reaper 10-08-2014 10:12 PM

168 is the limit with 450+whp and a little aero.

AVodka14 10-08-2014 10:18 PM

168 mph stock or tuned ECU? I feel like the ECU would shut the car off before that.

Do you really think he is making over 400hp on the stock tune??? Lol :bonk:

Reaper 10-08-2014 10:24 PM

Wow.

Dude, come on. I know he is not running stock tune. Just curious if top speed shut off is changed with tune. :bonk:

Reaper 10-08-2014 10:41 PM

No such thing as top speed cutoff.

If your response is to my response. I know better than that. It's obvious one would need a retune. Just not sure if top speed allowance is changed. I know there are some newbies here. I am not one of them. Just left out details in my response. If your response was not in regard to mine...nevermind.

Then why do cars get shut off at certain MPH? Way before their potential? I am purely curious?

Reaper 10-08-2014 10:46 PM

Potential? 170whp is not enough to overcome the aero drag past 130ish.

10-4. But what about other cars that have more power? They get 'shut down' before the car's potential. I am obviously not articulating this well. But there are vehicles that will be limited to 135 mph (electronically) when they can easily go further in terms of speed via more power.

Demandred7 10-08-2014 10:53 PM

220 km/hr or 137.5 mph based on digital speedo.

Reaper 10-08-2014 10:54 PM

All Bikes are limited to 186mph. Ford rangers 88mph. Scion tc's 124 mph it's all whatever the manufacturer wants.

Leight1104 10-08-2014 10:56 PM

So whats wph lol

Kwaziekeller 10-08-2014 11:59 PM

This "shut off" is called a governor, or "electronic speed limiter". The triplets are not equipped with a governor. They are "drag limited" meaning they lack the horsepower to overcome aerodynamics to go faster than a certain speed. There are many factors effecting this as well as modifications etc. Make more power, go faster. The manual is geared to approximately 168mph at 7500rpm in 6th, so if you have the power to go that fast (most turbo cars probably do), then you're limited by gearing.

GM Trucks are limited at 99mph, Charger R/T's to 125mph, Charger R/T with R/T or Police package to 157mph, Charger SRT8's are drag limited. Most European cars are electronically limited to 155mph for legal reasons in Europe.

jblmr2 10-09-2014 12:20 AM

I hate this thread! Ego out of control! Why are you guys putting at risk all of the people you love? What would you do if your wife, son, daughter, brother, was killed by some idiot trying to find how fast his car can go? If you want to find out what the 86 can do take it to the track! Let's stop this tread now!!!!!

STV3 10-09-2014 12:29 AM

Our cars aren't governed. They are drag/power limited to a certain top speed in which I do not know. Add more power and you'll be able to go faster, that is until you hit the stock rev limiter. Then of course if you want to go even faster you can do things like raising the rev limiter or change gearing etc.

If you have the funds getting this car over 200mph doesn't seem all that far fetched.

There are absolutely no "limiters" in these cars except drag, I don't think you fully understand your own question, but, the reason you see 135 mph-145 mph or whatever is because the car literally cannot go past that in it's stock form with the current hp, ie. it cannot overcome the air resistance . The car if, I remember correctly from a dyno run video, is mechanically limited (transmission can't go further) than around 175 mph.

How many more are going to answer EXACTLY the same way! That is 4 now lets go for a record.

AZOOZ_95 10-09-2014 07:24 AM
