Dealerships to buy from in the SE
Let's start a list of the dealers to buy from. Follow the format below if possible:
Dealership Name: State: City: Brand: (ie Scion, Subaru or both) Salesman to talk to: Reference desired: (ie tell them Bob sent you, etc) Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: Details of your experience with the dealership: |
I'll start :)
Dealership Name: Mastro Subaru State: FL City: Tampa/Sanford Brand: Subaru Salesman to talk to: Sean McCarthy in Tampa, haven't dealt with the Sanford guys Reference desired: Sure if you want, tell them Dave sent you :) Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: Sadly no, all 26 cars are spoken for for the first 7 month period. Details of your experience with the dealership: I've made my experience pretty clear already but my experience was absolutely wonderful with this dealership and they stood by the deal I had with them when so many other dealerships increased to MSRP or more. I can't say enough about this dealership, it's honestly been the best new car buying experience I've ever had. The team there is great, they are honest and trustworthy which is something that's hard to find these days in dealerships. They also have a points program where you get points for maintenance and can get oil changes, etc for free after building up points. They also cover oil changes as part of a new program beyond the two years Subaru covers. |
Dealership Name: Courtesy Toyota/Scion (Brandon, Adamo Dr)
State: Florida City: Tampa Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: John Reference desired: if you want, Chris Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: Got a few autos coming in i think Details of your experience with the dealership: Really pleasant, bought a Sienna SE from them 8 months ago. Really down to earth and helpful. Made no fuss, about me wanting a basic FR-S. Put my deposit down, and as promise, was no markup. Will update, when i finally take delivery. Happy i went back. |
Dealership Name: Leith Toyota
State: North Carolina City: Raleigh Brand: Toyota/Scion Salesman to talk to: Alan Hillman Reference desired: None needed. Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: They have an Argento AT test-drive mule, but no others when I was there. Details of your experience with the dealership: After a horrible experience at my local dealership, I made the 2-hour drive to Leith. The least amount of pressure I've ever felt in a dealership. If you know what you want, and don't want to deal with any BS, get to Leith and ask for Alan. Alan will get you straight up MSRP whether you are buying one off the lot, or ordering custom. I ordered a Whiteout 6MT with no options for MSRP. Left a $500.00 deposit to do so, and have about a 3 month wait. Also, very agreeable doc/dealer fees for North Carolina. |
Dealership Name: Sun Toyota
State: FL City: Holiday Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Willie Patti Reference desired: Greg who bought the Hot Lava FR-S Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: Nothing as of writing this post (they deal in volume and likely have more on the way) Details of your experience with the dealership: I had a bad experience the day prior at another dealership (see other thread). That evening I searched around on cars.com and saw a manual FR-S at Sun Toyota. They were already closed, but I was able to do online chat. They took my information and said someone would be in touch. I received a phone call about an hour later from one of the internet sales folks from her mobile phone while she was heading home. Told me the car I saw online was already sold but a Hot Lava one (even better!) was coming in on a dealer trade. I called her back the next morning, gave my credit card for a $500.00 deposit to hold the car. They didn't charge my card anything (no hold even showed up). Went by after work, they greeted me nicely, brought the car off the showroom floor for the test drive right away, and answered all my questions. Willie Patti was the sales associate and he was a stand up guy through and through. Even went on edmunds.com with me to value my trade when I was unhappy, then got me a a tad more than what was showing online. It was late in the day but he stuck around while I handled my financing (which was lower than everything else around!). By the way, Sun Toyota has NO DEALER FEE. The FR-S models coming through there aren't optioned like crazy, and there is no markup. They setup my Toyoguard registration for me, called me to check in over the past week, and even washed my car for me when I stopped back in. Now I get to enjoy my Hot Lava FR-S knowing I wasn't mistreated at the dealership. |
Dealership Name: Mastro Subaru
State: FL City: Tampa Brand: Subaru Salesman to talk to: Sean McCarthy Reference desired: Tell them Will (or Dave ;) )sent you! Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: Nope, all 16 cars are spoken for for the first 7 month period. But keep checking as some may cancel! Details of your experience with the dealership: Been a customer of Mastro's for 17 year's, after 10 years of honest, no-pressure dealings I became an employee 7 years ago. If you want a great car at a fair price there is really no comparison. Plus you get the benefits of a top-notch service department, enthusiast employees and the rewards program! Get the car you want, as you want it and no add-on fee's. |
Dealership Name: Beechmont Subaru
State: Ohio City: Cincinnati Brand: Subaru Salesman to talk to: Paul Kane Allocation left: 4 out of 8 Details of your experience with the dealership: This is the second Subaru I have purchased from Paul. He is a true enthusiast and can relate to car nuts like us. I live 80 miles away and near two other dealerships, but after being treated so well when I bought my 2011 WRX I didn't hesitate to order this car from him. If anything, the experience was even better this time. Also kudos to the finance lady who pulled some strings to get me an interest rate of 1.79% and to the lady in service who cheerfully responded to my spur-of-the-moment request to reprogram the interior light and door lock functions. (As it turned out, Subaru had not yet equipped them to do this, but they said they would take care of it next time I'm in Cinci.) Overall this was by far the best treatment I've ever experienced from a car dealer. |
Dealership Name: Beaman Scion
State: TN City: Nashville Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Chris Bargatze Reference desired: Tell Chris that Kirk sent you Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: 0 at the moment, perhaps two in July. May be spoken for, as they were taking deposits for those when I bought mine on June 7th. Details of your experience with the dealership: No mark-ups, add-ons, etc. The car I bought was already spoken for when I went to look at it. So, I put money down on the next one that was to come in (they said they would return the deposit if I didn't like the next one to come in). However, the guy buying the car on the lot backed out. They called me as he was walking out the door and told me to come down and pick-up my car. An hour later, I was driving away. No hidden fees, etc. They didn't give me as much for my trade as I would have liked, but I knew that was going to happen and didn't want to go through the hassle of selling it outright. In the end it was about a $700 difference. I kinda wanted the car more than the $700 at that point. |
Dealership Name: Performance Subaru
State: North Carolina City: Chapel Hill Brand: Subaru Salesman to talk to: Mike Pinto Allocation left: 1 (the last time I checked) Details of your experience with the dealership: I was in NC from out of state and decided to drop by to see a BRZ in person for the first time. Mike was extremely helpful and not once did he try to pressure me into trying to order a car. He patiently answered every question I had - going so far as to address my concerns with trunk space that he grabbed a bunch of duffel bags from the accessory counter and organize everything in the trunk to show just how much stuff you could fit in there. Excellent guy to work with and if I actually lived in-state, I wouldn't have hesitated to place my order right then and there. Go see Mike! |
Dealership Name: Legacy Toyota
State: Florida City: Tallahassee Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Tony Dalton Reference desired: Talk to Tony and mention Jeremy pointed you in his direction please. Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: 2, White 6AT, Black 6AT Details of your experience with the dealership: Went in and not only did he offer me a test drive in both the auto and manual cars available without any hassle, he worked with me and showed knowledge of the car. They found my car (Ultramarine, 6MT) in Wesley Chapel, Florida and showed me these silly markups that that dealership had (Wesley Chapel Toyota), $100 for nitrogen, window tint is $320, $4k market adjustment...etc going up to $30,211. Charged me MSRP plus a $500 dollar delivery fee, best I could ask for. |
Anyone know about Subaru of Pembroke Pines down here in South FL?
|
Dealership Name: Central Florida Toyota
State: Florida City: Orlando Brand: (Scion) Salesman to talk to: Edwin Reference desired: (tell them Scott sent you) Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: not sure Details of your experience with the dealership: Fantastic!!! |

Dealership Name: Subaru of Jacksonville
State: FL City: Jacksonville Brand: Subaru Salesman to talk to: Peyton Reference desired: Tell them Shaun sent you! Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: Sorry but NO, all 11 cars are spoken for and they have a stand by list. Details of your experience with the dealership: Bought our first car in 2002 dealing directly with the Owner. No BS, just straight forward car deals with everything on the table. I too was so impressed I became an employee. |
I had a decent deal with my new purchase.
Dealership Name: Lipton Toyota State: FL City: Ft. Lauderdale Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Doesn't matter much. My salesman's last name was "Succes" Reference desired: Justin with the Whiteout FR-S (I *might* get something, but probably not) Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: No idea. They didn't have any when I picked up my car. Details of your experience with the dealership: I mainly dealt with the Sales manager in the office to secure my deal and get my car ordered. I wanted Whiteout 6MT like a Firestorm one they had at the time that had the Bespoke radio and trunk mat. My salesman was just the next guy on deck when I drove up. He was nice and immediately went to get the key for a test drive of the Firestorm FRS that they had on the lot. I wasn't actually ready to buy at the time, but needed to show my wife the car first for some reason. Then after checking it out, We discussed it and decided that I should go ahead and buy it if they will deal. So I went back in and went to the manager's office and told them my price. After a few brief discussions back and forth, they agreed to my price and were going to trade the car from another dealership. FOILED! the other place already sold theirs. So I had to wait until they could get another one in. It finally came in on 7/6 and I picked it up Friday. Everything was smooth with the pickup and all was well. Overall, the communication from my salesman was not the greatest, but the main pieces of info did come through when necessary. This dealership also was willing to work with me on price which seems to be different from other people's experience. I would definitely recommend them to others. |

Dealership Name: McLarty Toyota/Scion
State: TN City: Fayetteville (Just south of Nashville) Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Thomas McCarthy Reference desired: Tell him Nick from Memphis sent you Details of your experience with the dealership: Thomas is a good friend of mine that I bought my RS 1.0 tC from back in '05. He drove my car the 200+ miles from his dealership to my home and is willing to do the same for any customers I refer to him. |
Dealership Name: Thomasville Scion
State: Georgia City: Thomasville Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Charlotte Reference desired: Bruce Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: Currently Zero Details of your experience with the dealership: Got me exactly what I asked for even tho i had to wait for it a bit. No silly markups, when the car arrived the process was easy and relatively painless. :party0030: |
Dealership Name: Headquarters Toyota
State: Florida City: Miami Lakes Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Roberto Estrada Reference: Chris from homestead, whiteout FR-S. Details on experience: I absolutely love this guy's. All of them know about cars as in they where car guys not just dealers. Talking about aftermarket parts while we were signing papers. Guy was talking about his supra and 2jz motor that they put into an FR-S. And I never got a feeling that I was getting screwed over. And I know that feeling trust me. Highly recommend them. |
Bought Raven FRS
Dealership Name: Rheinhardt Toyota
State: AL City: Montomery Brand: (ie Scion, Subaru or both) Scion Salesman to talk to: Joe Saffold Reference desired: (ie tell them Bob sent you, etc)Sure, tell them Joe sent you. Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know:1 auto, silver Details of your experience with the dealership: no $5k mark up, they did have their FRS marked up in May/June, so I waited. They were nice! Nonetheless, I did have to negotiate the trade-in value on my 2003 Honda S2000 with less than 70k miles. I would recommend them; but you may have to put on your bartering hat. |
Dealership Name: Nally Toyota
State: Georgia City: Roswell Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Russell Reference desired: Sure - tell 'em Pete Lawton sent you. I'll split the reference fee with you. Allocation left? None, but I don't think they have anyone in line Details of your experience with the dealership: Went in on July 29th and put in my $500 deposit. I got excited because there was one on the lot - Whiteout 6MT - just what I wanted. Too bad it was already accounted for. Just waiting to be picked up. Got a call on the 31st saying the person who ordered the car was flaking out so the car was fair game if I wanted it. I didn't make it in until the evening, but the sales guys stayed late and did everything they could to make me happy - even with an easy sale like mine. |
Dealership Name: Team Toyota
State: Georgia City: Lithia Springs Brand: Both Salesman to talk to: Mark Asare Reference desired: n/a Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: Dealership Name: State: City: Brand: (ie Scion, Subaru or both) Salesman to talk to: Reference desired: (ie tell them Bob sent you, etc) Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: I got the one they had coming in and the sold the one I test drove as I was filling out the paperwork for the one that I bought. Details of your experience with the dealership: I have had dealings with these guys in the past, both my parents got their Toyotas there as did my younger sister. The staff are all very friendly, they have a great selection of cars, and the financing guys are more than willing to work with you. I actually got the financing guy to incude the 7 year extended warranty into the price of the car due to the fact I had to wait for it to get delivered. I was very pleased with them and will likely do business with them again. You know when I save up enough money and the new Supra comes out. |
Dealership Name: Eastern Shore Toyota
State: Alabama* City: Daphne* Brand:*Scion Salesman to talk to: Shawn (the owners son) or Kubi (not the proper spelling I'm sure) * Reference desired:*Philip sent you, the guy who bought thier first FR-S Allocation left? State: Florida City: Tallahassee Brand: Subaru Salesman to talk to: Abel Correa Reference desired: Not really needed, but tell him Geoff sent you Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: None that I am aware of Details of your experience with the dealership: Starting dealing with Abel over email and phone while trying to source a BRZ. He was very helpful and nice the entire duration. Drove over to pick my ordered BRZ and everyone was excited and a pleasure to be around. I'm not sure when I will need another Subaru, but if I do, I'll be keeping them in mind. They sold the BRZ to me at MSRP. No funky markups. |
Dealership Name: Beaman Automotive
State: TN City: Nashville Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Derek Reference desired: Ben Rooke sent you Allocation left? Don't know Details of your experience with the dealership: I put down a deposit on Monday ($500 check and they don't even cash the check). They are charging sticker price- no addendum or silly "add-ons". Another deal fell through on Wednesday and I drive down and picked it up. Two days to get the Argento I wanted! Nice guys. |

If so, how many as far as you know: 0 Details of your experience with the dealership: Came in looking for FRS and he said he could find one exactly like the one I had built online. Called me next day to say he found it and needed a deposit to secure it. I put my deposit down and 2hrs later he called me saying they had it secured. Dealership Name: Fairway Subaru
State: SC City: Greenville Brand: Subaru Saleswoman to talk to: Jan Doss Reference desired: Matt Davis Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: none currently - sold 3 including mine as far as I know Details of your experience with the dealership: My family has purchased 5 new subarus and traded in 4 with this dealership. They treat us like family. They treat the car as expected - locked and no test drives - no extra mileage on the car. No BS on pricing and no back and forth salesman to sales manager. They are trying to be the largest volume dealer in SC and it shows in the deals they offer. Stop in and talk to Jan. |
Dealership Name: South Dade Toyota / Scion
State: Florida City: Homestead Brand: Scion / Toyota Salesman to talk to: Juan Carlos Soto (but doesn't really matter) Reference desired: doesn't matter really - Dr. A. Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: Huge allocation, among the largest in Florida. Details of your experience with the dealership: Hey guys... Just passing on to those who might reside in South Florida and in the market to purchase an FRS. Fact, most "stealerships" suck! However... I purchsed my son's FRS at South Dade Scion, negotiated a GREAT deal on the phone / email, gave credit card for deposit, delivery was hassle free and the finance for the balance was even lower than the 3.0% of my federal credit union. Note: Scion is supposed to be sticker price that is already discounted, but there is room for negotiation (ie. delete BS dealer fee, factory add ons at invoice and not MSRP, etc...). It was well worth the hour drive to a distant Scion dealership. Additionally, unique to that dealership is a bumper to bumper for 80k miles / 6 years for only a few hundred $$ (not an aftermarket 3rd party "warranty" - rather a factory extended by Scion honored nationwide at any Scion dealership) and a few other goodies that are financially sound. I am in NO WAY associated with that or any other dealershiop, just passing it on to help another. :happy0180: |
Dealership Name: Toyota/Scion of Concord
State: NC City: Concord Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Corey Woodford Reference Desired: stemy Allocation left: Looks like 2 Whiteout AT and 1 Ultramarine AT Details of your experience with the dealership: Our experience was so pleasant that my wife and I went back the following weekend and bought a new Toyota Sienna for her. I had to wait for one to arrive, but they offered a temp vehicle for a business trip up to DC if the FR-S didn't arrive in time for my trip (my CR-V was starting to have issues). |
Dealership Name: David Maus Toyota
State: Florida City: Sanford Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: ANDREW REYES Reference desired: PM me for reference Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: Physically saw two left on lot - 1) Raven (not sure of transmission, saw it from afar) + 2) Asphalt A/T (parked on showroom floor) Details of your experience with the dealership: My fiance and I did not have an appointment and seeked out David Maus Toyota after a below par experience at Daytona Beach Toyota. We did not have an appointment nor did we know what David Maus Toyota had in stock. We pulled up to a parking spot and was immediately greeted by Andrew. He is a stand up guy and after we told him of our previous experience he relayed to us that his business is built on trust and he will do everything he can to fight for us. The whole process took approximately 3.5 hours and it was the most pleasant 3.5 hours I've ever spent at a car dealership on a Sunday! Andrew fought to increase the trade amount for my 1996 Mustang to get to the number WE wanted and did so with the utmost professionalism. From the sales floor, to management, and on to financing everyone was a stand up professional and made sure we were honestly comfortable before we took delivery of the car. *Please see my post in DEALERSHIPS TO AVOID regarding my previous experience* |
Dealership Name: Toyota/Scion of Knoxville
State: Tennessee City: Knoxville Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Deborah Todd Reference desired: Allocation left? If so, how many as far as you know: 4 on the lot as of 12/22/2012. Details of your experience with the dealership: Deb was fantastic to work with. She was a professional racer in a prior life and completely understands the purpose of this car. Barbara Millard, helps customers do custom work, was terrific as well. Very enthusiastic about understanding what you want and finding the parts to make that happen. |
Dealership Name: Riverside Toyota/ Scion
State: Georgia City: Rome Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Ted Long Reference desired: Say Tucker Roach sent you Allocation left? As of last oil change I didn't notice any on the lot. Details of your experience with the dealership: Originally, I started out at Capital Toyota in Chattanooga Tennessee. To make a long story short they sold my FR-S out from under me after I had already given them my deposit. Next I started looking at other dealerships. Came across Riverside Toyota in Rome. The Salesman that catered to me was Ted Long. He went above and beyond to get me driving an FR-S. I called up Riverside and spoke to Ted. I told him what happened at the other dealership and what I was looking for. He said he hated that happened to me and then got all of my info from me. About a month or so later he called to tell me that my FR-S had arrive on the lot. A great dealership that i'd recommend to anyone. |
The Good and the Bad...
Dealership Name: Pembrook Pines Subaru
State: Florida City: Pembrook Pines Brand: Subaru Salesman to talk to: None of them... Reference desired: N/A Details of your experience with the dealership: As with many dealers in South Florida (Miami/Ft. Lauderdale) these guys have zero integrity. They have 4 or 5 BRZs coming in within two weeks (it shows on their website as "In Transit") They had a red one and I test drove it Christmas Eve. I wanted to leave a deposit but they said as long as I came back on the 26th they would save it for me. I'm on my way on the 26th, driving from the other caost and I get a call that they sold it out from under me. I offered a deposit at least 3 times but they would not take it - then they sell it out from under me. Dealership Name: Germain Scion State: Florida City: Naples Brand: Scion Salesman to talk to: Jim Jabrowski Reference desired: N/A Details of your experience with the dealership: These guys were great, and were willing to deal on the markup. I was doing a trade for a car worth MORE than the FR-S (i had the title) so I actually got a check BACK. So it's a little unclear if I paid a markup or not. I feel like I was treated fairly though. However, on the window they show a $4995 markup. But I'm guessing I might have paid $1000 more than sticker maybe. Since the value of my trade is subjective - who knows right? But I got an FR-S free and clear and about $7k in my pocket so... |
Scott Clark Toyota, Charlotte
Guy's Contrary to other posts I had a great experience at Scott Clark. My sales men were Jim Dalo Sales Manager and Bobby Jessup. They were excellent no pressure at anytime put up with me changing my mind 3 times and I ended up buying a FR-S "Raven 6 AT. Great car. Would recommend to anybody to experience them yourself. See Jim straight up guy.

Great Sales Experience in Chattanooga Tennessee
Dealership name: Capital Toyota / Scion
State:Tennessee City: Chattanooga Brand: Scion Salesperson to talk to: Alfred Odister Reference Desired: Tell him David Braddock sent you. Allocation Left: Alfred told me that they have sold seven FR-S. (I was lucky number 7.) He mentioned that they had done a couple dealer trades and are trying to get some more. That week they sold three; unfortunately for now I took the last one but hopefully they will get some more soon. Details of Your Experience with the Dealership: I have bought Toyotas from all the local dealers. (Capital Toyota, North Georgia Toyota and Toyota of Cleveland) I originally tried to get one from Toyota of Cleveland but they said they couldn't do any dealer trades BUT if I put up a $500 deposit, I could get the one I wanted in about six weeks. I previously had a bad sales experience at Capital Toyota but I reluctantly went and asked to speak with the sales manager Ed Emmerson. I told him that I didn't want the next salesperson up but wanted someone who really knew the car. He introduced me to Alfred Odister. Alfred told me all the highlights of the Toyota / Subaru partnership and then showed me all the great features of the car and took me on a great test drive. I told him I was really impressed and asked him to tell me why I should buy the car. He was honest and simply said, you have to buy it only if you really want it. No hard sales tactics but a great salesman that won my business and became a friend. As for Alfred @ Capital, you won't be disappointed. |
