More rumors - Toyota 86 to go AWD turbo - motoring.au

So these guys constantly report this kind of stuff, and it's likely just click bait.. but here it goes since it's recent.

i believe it when i see it in person. FRS/BRZ was inspired from AE86 and this will totally change its characteristic.

Atticus808 09-23-2014 11:56 AM

pretty sure it's supposed to go FWD

Jyn 09-23-2014 11:57 AM

stooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooop.

stahp it, rahn.
stahp.

Shark_Bait88 09-23-2014 11:57 AM

If the rumor comes from Australia, don't believe it. Motoring.au is notorious for reporting rumors that are poorly informed, misconstrued, and seemingly just made up most of the time.

Tcoat 09-23-2014 12:02 PM

Ya, they just keep rehashing the same old statements. The first article is almost the same as one from way back in the spring with 2015 scratched out and 2016 scribbled in (probably in crayon on their draft)

Serious question: have you seen the front engine + suspension layout recently?

That will answer the AWD question.

Hp yes, but no-no awd.

People who continually post this bs should be banned, its clear as day that these rumors are constantly made up.

Most that post it KNOW it is BS and just want to share.
It is the ones that BELEIVE it that are the problem!

I wonder if OP sits behinds his keyboard thing "Oh my god, look at this article! No one on the forums will have ever heard this before! I must share it with them.."

every time.

it's clickbait.

tyrantcf 09-24-2014 01:52 PM

Stop posting this crap

thill 09-24-2014 01:56 PM

I heard they are also coming out with a longbed El-Camino styled mini-pickup truck version that will have 800ft lbs of torque and will be used to tow bass boats.

Tcoat 09-24-2014 01:58 PM

Some day somebody posting this may be right!
The OP on this one at least said right in the title "More Rumors" so if you don't want to read it just do not open it.
I for one am glad as they save me wasting the time checking out the outlandish claims some sites have.

They already have one. It's called the Holden GTS Maloo. Makes 576 hp / 545 ft lbs from a supercharged 6.2l v8.

I imagine Toyota/Subaru must be getting pissed off about all these articles as it likely affects the sales of the 86/BRZ when the "journalists" constantly post rumours about a supposed turbo model coming.

These articles have been around since before the 86/BRZ even released in 2012.

Until we see a video of camoflauged twin running around the Nurburgring with a distinctive whoosh or whine, then nothing is solid.

And that makes it worse, why would we (or them) want to share false bs information? All it does is continually clutter an already disorganized forum.

See post 15
Not that I disagree with you though!

Its time to trade in

8R6 09-25-2014 02:39 PM

next generation will be No-Wheel-Drive. it's gonna be jet powered.

gramicci101 09-25-2014 02:43 PM

I heard they're switching it to hydrogen-powered, with individual electric motors in each wheel. That way they'll be able to remove the entire drivetrain, it'll still be AWD, and it'll have massive massive torque.

airjonny 09-25-2014 02:47 PM

I heard they were detuning the boxer to the original 86s 112hp. 200 was ruining the car.

Tcoat 09-25-2014 03:08 PM

Hover! Back to the Future told us soon!!!!!

shellslinger 09-25-2014 03:22 PM
