Mount for OFT on the track?

Wondering if any one has ideas for a mount to monitor vitals on the track.

Most of the track events I know are fairly restrictive when it comes to items mounted on the car while on track.

I know the iMagnet mount is fairly popular but I'm not sure of the strength of it at the track.

I already plan on getting a right angle OBD II adapter and taping it securely.

I'm using the iMagnet mount and it's very sturdy. I can't imagine it coming loose from driving on the road course.

generic adjustable tablet holder with suction cup. i got one of the sloted 3m adhesive bases that contour to the dash and have a flat circular spot for the suction cup. rock solid for months. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps7cpobag1.jpg

That's oil temp, not oil pressure :)

Also, we are working on the next round of updates for the you guys. We are actually developing it on the GT86 OFT so you guys will get it first. I think you'll love it!

How long have you had your imagnet? I've read reviews that it doesnt work quite as well after a few weeks or a couple months.

troek 09-27-2014 03:49 AM

i reeled in and passed a cayman on the strait at fuji today, so something must be working! im pretty sure it was 2.7L (240hp) model though, as moments later a new model blew my doors off lol.

I've had my iMagnet for more than half a year...i can't imagine you'll have any issues at all at the track with the OFT given its weight.

Yup worked perfect at the track!

I went ahead and ordered an OBD extiension, iMagnet and some cheapo clip type phone holder. I was going to use the clip type holder to hold my iPhone for harry's lap timer recording but found it vibrated too much. Instead I used it to hold the OFT along with the OBD extension and it works perfectly. Haven't had a connection problem mid-drive or mid-log yet. Although the OFT had trouble connecting to ECU upon start up several times. When I go and disconnect and reconnect the OBD connector it usually clears up.

Now the question is if this iMagnet will give me vibration free video recordings with my iPhone cam and Harry's Timer..

Flat Ribbon OBD Extension:

Cheapo clip type phone holder (vibrates a bit, and articulation is limited, but suction is excellent):

That right angle extension is a must have it seems.

Wayno 10-07-2014 12:14 AM

Not really for AT, only to get the extra length.

The standard 180* plug puts too much stress on the connection IMHO causing connection problems after some usage.

So just to confirm, is OFT safe with using a magnetic mount?

I'm planning to use a Logitech magnetic mount and would like to be sure.

Thx

@Shiv@Openflash any idea if there's anything that could be demagnetised in the OFT? I'm also keen to use a magnetic mount and would hate to destroy my tablet
