Cabin intake sound tube..
After 1.5 years of exhaustive research. I have concluded that
the Sound tube that enters the cabin and provides induction noise is for shit. Actually... I'm just very lazy and finally plugged the thing up. The car now sounds less "Industrial" , I didn't realize how much the sound tube contributed to the unrefinement of the overall sound. It's quieter inside now which allows me to hear the Nameless axleback clearer. I plugged it with a "borrowed" power socket plug from the BMW 550 loaner car they gave me when I dropped off my 335i This pig has a TT V8. It's like driving a tank. A quick tank that doesn't feel fast.. But it is.. It's Too refined, you don't feel the speed. Some pics.. Nice interstate cruiser.. 77k sticker.. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3910/...d72c6a01_b.jpg https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3875/...414afbdc_b.jpg |

This thread is stupid.
|
Can someone take detailed pictures of the spot to plug the tube? I'm too drunk to understand any of this.
|
Never mind. OP how did you fit a BMW engine in a FRS.
|
Plug is located under glovebox on psgr side, just behind the carpet, about 1" down so it doesn't show right in the middle.
|
To OP. A sport car mus be loud, what you expected?

I used the nylon plug in this thread instead of doing anything with the tube:

I only made it four months until it started to drive me crazy. Not so much the sound but all that wasted space in my engine compartment. I decided on the aftermarket intake sound delete option rather then just simply plugging the hole.

Mishimoto intake tube and remove all the junk. I can't believe how much more quite the cabin is. I wouldn't have guessed it would have made a huge difference but it does. |

This is thread #238 on this subject I am sure!

I read the other 237 threads.. But didn't think it would make that much of a difference. I figured there would be less noise.. I didn't think it would improve the overall sound.. |
The cabin sound is as refined as a sub $30k sports car can get!

I think my car does not need this either- operation success

Money would have been better spent on a nicer sounding factory exhaust with descent looking tips. |

Going ..... yunnn ..... yunnn ..... on my tri-cycle made IT go faster and putting a playing card in the spokes of my bicycle made IT go faster ...... therefore …… http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...s/spinning.gif humfrz |
I've read that for better HP performance it's a good idea to leave the resonator on with a new induction hose. Is this true?

If you delete do make sure you plug the hole with something that won't get sucked in otherwise you are just sucking unfiltered air. There are at least half a dozen good threads on here on what to do. |

installed and the noise amplifier deleted. This setup provided the best HP and TQ as well as the lowest noise in the cabin." Their numbers from dyno runs report a 3 WHP hit removing the resonator. Guess it does matter. :eyebulge: |

The resonator DOES NOT change your horsepower in any way. Their claim is that their intake tube gives 3 more WHP NOT the resonator! The sound tube and resonator are just a big kazoo for noise only. There are many threads on here that explain that just take a look! |
