We are pleased to announce that the Scion FR-S, the most anticipated new sports car for 2012, will be available for sale and delivery on Monday June 4th.

We'd like to thank all our fans and owners for their patience and support.

QC-FRS 05-31-2012 09:11 PM

Nice! Now we just need train to deliver the cars :)

Mr.Jay 05-31-2012 09:28 PM

Finally!

Dragon86 05-31-2012 09:54 PM

sick lets hope, i dont have to wait a month for a car.

Slick 05-31-2012 10:13 PM

I was told today from my rep that its just a few more days, and my car was already in Toronto just waiting to be delivered to Ottawa. Depending if your car is in the first batch for your dealer, it's probably already in Toronto (if the destination is Toronto).

JFYI Oakville Toyota has a red MT FRS sitting on their lot and as far as I know, it's not spoken for. In fact, last I asked, they had no deposits and they have more cars coming.

ultramarinefrs 06-01-2012 09:00 AM

FRS in Oakville

The FRS in Oakville is an automatic, I had the opportunity to drive it. What an amazing car! As far as deposits? I put one down over a month ago, I already have the VIN just need to wait patiently.:burnrubber:

TheJuggernaut 06-01-2012 09:11 AM

The silver automatic was a demo making the rounds at all dealers. The red is manual (I didn't look but that's what they said). And I was there less than a month ago (May 10), they had no deposits and said they have a red (mt) and orange (at) cars coming that aren't spoken for.

Slick 06-01-2012 09:33 AM

I'm hoping the cars arrive today and we could have them today or tomorrow, but not sure when they are arriving.

I will be doing drive-bys past Bel-Air (my dealer) and Mendes (5 mins from my office) just to see if they have perhaps arrived.
Yes, I am now stalking our dealers, lol.

However, I do believe that once the delivery arrives, I will get a phone call from my rep (providing he is in). He knows I am very eager to get my car.
If I hear anything, I'll report back.

Great! If you see a red FR-S at Mendes, I'm going to be leaving the office right away! :D

Hmmm, maybe set up a web cam on a pole beside the dealership...

Slick 06-01-2012 10:41 AM

Yours auto or manual?

I will be stalking err stopping by mendes and tony grahams this afternoon as well. I fugure if the trucks are loaded today then they should arrive at some point this afternoon or evening probably too late to get the car registered. The last time I was at mendes I had asked when trucks arrive and they indicated at any time of day or night. There was no set schedule. I am thinking at some point today or Saturday they will be here and processed on Monday. The good news for us Mendes buyers is there is license bureau is right across the street.

Slick 06-01-2012 11:03 AM

Updating the Ottawa FR-S thread.

Manual, just like yours. We'll have to do some mirror image style photos.

Sticky tires have been sitting in the spare bedroom for a week. The timing hasn't worked out to run the car in the first MCO Solo2 event, but everything should be in place for the next one. I'll take some time off work to rack up those break-in miles!

MattM232 06-01-2012 11:30 AM

I ordered a FR-S from Oakville identical to the one that they are demoing right now, but they said they needed a demo :( They told me mid-June for my car, is this changing now to the 4th?

dcfr 06-01-2012 11:40 AM

FR-S will be running on the roads in GTA next week. Owners' manual issue was fixed.

You might be happier with a new car than a demo unit -- who knows how the demo was treated?

Anyway, when did you submit your order to the dealer? If it was just in the past few days then it probably wouldn't be part of their initial shipment on/around June 4th. The dealer is probably thinking they'll get a second batch of cars in mid-June.

MattM232 06-01-2012 11:43 AM

Ya I wouldn't want a demo, they should've given it to me when it was new :) I submitted my order early May

Marloon 06-01-2012 11:46 AM

NOOO its too soon! HAHHA

Aznek 06-01-2012 11:47 AM

Man I cannot wait! My dealer told me 2 days to PDI once the car gets here. Would Saturday count as a day?

Marloon 06-01-2012 11:55 AM

PDI should only take 2 hours MAX. really?! 2 days?!

Slick 06-01-2012 11:58 AM

Yeah, it shouldn't take 2 days. Same day or next unless you are adding options.

Aznek 06-01-2012 12:00 PM

oh shit! Don't they semi detail it, drive it around to test it out and fill it up?

Man if it takes just 2 hours to PDI then I could potentially bring it home tonight if it shows up early enough.

So if your car left on the 31. Is it not more than possible that it will be at the dealership today. I can't see it taking more than 24 hours to offload all the vehicles on the truck. I am thinking each truck holds 12 cars. I think they are giving you the absolute worst case scenario ( other than the truck getting written off in an accident en route) to ensure no more anxiety and a nice surprise call on Monday.

PS. I have heard nothing from Mendes.

SCIONMONTREAL 06-01-2012 12:56 PM

Dealer here, I got an automatic released here but I can still see my production very much still at ' port of entry ' as well as a few dealers, wonder if that means we get our stock next week and deliveries start :w00t:

Messed around with the automatic yesterday, fun fun car

Let's hope they are erring on the conservative side just so they aren't building up false expectations.

Let's see -- Tony Graham is getting 10 cars or so I think @ 2.5 hours prep per car = 25 hours divided between a couple of technicians = about a day and a half.

Random internet forum math can't be wrong. :D Would be nice if they prepped and released the cars in the order the deposits were made.

I passed by the dealer and got to sneak into the preparation bay. Gabriel received 2 cars I think today which are doing prep. was amazed to see how much work something as simple as the mud guards took. 2 technicians and a bit of black melted sludge to finish the job, it didn't look that simple. Not a lot of them have ever seen a car like this and a few people were having a good look at the thing to make sure everything was done right for training purposes .
They have a silver manual which is receiveing a drop kit, shark fin and a few goodies form Greddy I've been sworn to secrecy about by Oren.

Hmmm, my receipt says the 12th, but I drove the red one on Tuesday night and its automatic. Originally they were getting the silver but I asked if they could swap it with something else, ended up with the blue. I tried calling my sales person but, once they have your money its difficult to get them to return your calls. As of now all I know that I will be getting the car within 2 weeks.

Port of entry, as in Vancouver or Mtl?

CoryUyede 06-01-2012 03:40 PM

Ive worked at dealers before, both in sales And service. The reason PDIs cant get done quickly is because the service side is doing their own thing. Salesmen usually have to bug the piss out of the service managers to get PDIs on queue. Service doesnt give a crap about PDIs. Im guessing with a special car like this they will give it priority over other cars. But dont expect every tech to drop what they're doing and do a PDI. A good tech will make more money doing other jobs , so no one is chomping at the bit to do one. A moderately busy service shop could easily take 3 or 4 days to PDI a dozen cars. A shop with nothing going on? 3 techs could do 12 cars in 3 or 4 hours if they were forced to.
