FBM Stage 3 BIG BORE 2.19 Liter Shortblock

Here is something we are testing. It is our stage 3 Big Bore 2.19 liter motor.

With the success of our stage 1 and stage 2 short blocks. We have decided to test a stage 3 block. Our stage 3 will feature a 90mm - 90.25mm bore combined with our iron sleeve that are machined and installed to our specs.

We hope to have results with back to back comparison shortly.

Just what I've been looking for. Can't wait to see further details.

cdrazic93 09-09-2014 03:08 PM

Im not sure if the open deck concerns me...does that really matter much anymore in modern engines these days? This seems to make great power but its fully open. The EJ was semi closed IIRC.

Freeman 09-09-2014 03:36 PM

This with a stroker kit, 90mm square, would be great.

Scavanger 09-09-2014 03:50 PM

whats the estimated power rating, how will this line up with stock trans, will it be able to use the same ecu and wiring, weight, engine postion compared to stock...

Really? Did u seriously just ask that?
An increase in piston diameter will in no way affect transmission fitment, wiring, or engine position

The open deck design really helps with cooling and being that the oem sleeves are very thick to begin with.. I would't be concerned about it.

That is correct, nothing will need to be changed. Why is your signature not updated ?? ;)

Machine an fb25 crank and skim the skirting on the block for a 90mm square set up (roughly 2.3L) and BaM

Toda Power has advertised that they're doing a 2.3ltr short block kit in the latest 86/BRZ hypertune. 89.2mm Cylinders with 90mm Stroke I think, but could be vice versa, my Japanese is rusty.

JD86 09-12-2014 01:53 AM

P.S. Fullblown, as always this looks fantastic. Can't wait to see the results. Are you doing any changes to the oiling systems in your blocks?

They addressed this previously, they stated that they are happy with the stock system and the bearing clearnce they use.

woode 09-12-2014 07:38 AM

Extremely interested.

Price?

Why take a factory forged crank out and go through at the trouble of installing a cast one?

CBR600RR 09-12-2014 08:29 AM

Is DYNOS a euphemism for things cropped?

Shady195 09-15-2014 07:36 AM

Well, I was going to post one with a moneyshot.. but I'd think that would be frowned upon here :bellyroll:\

There also may or may not be exposed boobies in said cropped area.

woode 09-23-2014 08:40 AM

Bump.

Curious on pricing and if a core with no pistons/rods and slightly scored cylinder wall would be acceptable, since it is being bored out..?

All you have to do after you post the pic is say something like, "And here she is after eating a glazed donut" and BOOM everyone's a winner.

How will the stage 3 block hold on high power boost applications? Also what kind of price point can we expect for these if the stage 1 is $3,100?

I have been waiting for news on a stroker short block. I have a feeling we you are going to be taking most of my money over the next few years and making my other half very very pissed.

If the stars align, stage 1 will price drop to $2,500 stage 2 will be around $3,500 and stage 3 will be coming in at $4,500. But they have to make a profit, cant be a charity unfortunately :(
