Am I the only one

Anyone drives an fr-s/brz for a driving job. I work as a courier and had my fr-s since last oct brand new with 5 miles only, not even a year and I put 25k miles already (duh soo sad). I spend many hours in my car all day everyday 5 days a week. Does anyone else put this amount of miles on their car. I average 150 miles a day. So far no problems (knock on wood).

Tcoat 09-08-2014 04:28 PM

800 miles a week. But that is commuting as I live in one city and work in two others.

Tt3Sheppard 09-08-2014 04:54 PM

I put about 21,000 miles per year on mine.

sklimo 09-08-2014 04:58 PM

Ho lee fuck and I thought I drove a lot.

itsibarra 09-08-2014 05:16 PM

Used to courier as well. Not as many miles as you, but the miles do add up..

pcporo 09-08-2014 06:13 PM

yea i put around 25k a year on mine. but i got put out in the middle no where for my job, so i road trip all the time.

And THAT why I am waiting to run through warrenty before going FI. Burn through miles so fast won't be that long.

MokSpeed 09-08-2014 06:25 PM

I've owned my car for 5 months and I've got about 10k miles on mine already.

Lol same here, that's why my car Is still stock and plus I got 7 years warranty

fang_gt86 09-08-2014 06:33 PM

Got mine for 15 months and put about 6k in her :P.

strat61caster 09-08-2014 06:35 PM

Outliers are >60k miles already (less than 2.5 years into the wild) but you are certainly a minority north of 20k miles per year, average US driver is ~10k/year last I checked, as enthusiasts odds are we drive our cars more as weekend trips to pickup a gallon of milk somehow turn into 3 hour joyrides, "sorry honey, got turned around".

WhiteFRS69 09-08-2014 07:19 PM

i hate looking at the mileage, it makes me sad

i dont regret a minute of it tho!

i am looking for an apartment closing to my job but they are so damn expensive for no reason

Try 27 months and just under 7k miles. :D

OP - I actually run the opposite risk as you. I could have an issue pop up at 10k miles but I'd be out of the warranty period!

I'd say if you've gone 25k miles without major issue, you're in good shape for the next few years. Once you start modding the car however, all bets are off.

extrashaky 09-08-2014 08:27 PM

22K miles since late January, mostly highway miles.

I have also put 500 miles on the new motor in the Jeep and maybe 1000 on rental cars.

Nicest pizza delivery car

boonFRS 09-08-2014 10:42 PM

That's why I drive with the temp reading on the display instead of odometer. It just breaks my heart seeing all the miles on there.

Me too lol

Chimera 09-08-2014 11:09 PM

I delivered pizzas just before getting this car. I tell you what, if I had the frs, every pizza would have been 1 minute faster and a little bit more smashed into the side of the box. ;-)

I use my car for work as well...as a IT contractor I transport computers and myself to the client location several times a week.

When something is funny, yeah.
Not when it's the same old thing that's said all the time though.

Seen that car repeatedly.

tYtEn86 09-09-2014 01:29 PM

They dont play up there in 503 son lol

aghuman 09-09-2014 06:48 PM

I just passed 60,000 km this week after about 18 months of ownership. I bought the car to drive it so not really phased by the high mileage. I don't ever plan on selling it either so the more time I get to spend driving the better. A good chunk of my km's are related to my work commute.

@Art_Mighty 09-09-2014 08:01 PM

I would really like to drive for a living and get paid for it. Any of these courier gigs pay north of $75k a year. (no drug running jokes!) Maybe something specialized like medical courier?

Highly unlikely. I made more money as a pizza delivery driver than I did as a courier for a legal services company (tips rock). That being said, I'm damn glad I went back to uni for another two degrees - couldn't have afforded the FR-S otherwise.

phobos512 09-09-2014 08:32 PM

3 miles one way to the office.

AJPG 09-09-2014 08:43 PM

 You should walk to work

16k miles 2.1 years, with this one.
2.8k miles on the 2 months of the first one.

Chimera 09-10-2014 12:16 AM

Me too

Courier jobs don't, but sales jobs do. Our sales people drive as much or more than I do and make significantly more than that. I knew a guy who sold medical equipment throughout a territory covering several states. He pulled in about $125K per year, and some of the guys he worked with were making twice that.

arobb10 09-10-2014 01:14 AM

I considered buying one at the dealership I work at but it had 34,700 miles on it after the first owner only had it for a little under a year. Way too many miles for that short of ownership. I decided to lease instead.

You can make a fortune selling medical equipment and pharmaceuticals. I know of someone with a drug company who just bought a new Ferrari 458. Stupid money I tell ya....

hur1ey02 09-10-2014 09:49 AM

I put about 30K / year on my vehicles. Given the crappy winter last year, the FRS only saw about 27K and the jeep got the rest.

I haven't had any real problems. I'm getting the windows worked on today (the squealing noise) but other than that and foggy tails, no biggie.

Canadian Greg 09-10-2014 10:47 AM

Had mine for 18 months and have just turned 14,000 km.

At this rate, it will out live me.

BlaineWasHere 09-10-2014 12:05 PM

I'll hit 75K miles sometime next week.
