Does the frs/brz still turn heads when driving

2 years after the release of this awesome car, do you still attract much attention?
Any funny stories

mizzta21 08-25-2014 11:41 PM

I drive a red FRS (1 month and 2 days old) and I definitely get a kick out of people checking the car out especially at stop lights and at intersections. No particularly funny stories but I just caught a couple staring at my car as they were walking by. When our eyes met, they did a terribly awkward job of trying to look away ie. Looking straight down vs straight ahead. I found their awkwardness hilarious on the drive back.

Just remembered the a funny incident that happened today... at my expense. Today was the first day of school and I parked in the parking garage. Now imagine the entrance of this garage has a pretty steep incline. Since I'm no wizard at clutch control, I had to use the E brake. As my luck would have it there was a crowd (8+) of students exciting the parking garage on foot and I felt some of them were definitely checking out the car. As soon as I scanned my ID, I let out the clutch way too quickly and kind of panicked with the engine lugging because of the incline (due to insufficient gas), I made a ass clown out of myself and stalled in front of them. I didn't have the heart to see their faces probably laughing at me lol.

Yes!! It does! I often receive compliments from "seasoned" adults. People look, it is a white out FR-S, with black WedsSports SA-15R

Turkish 08-26-2014 12:21 AM

I get head turns in my wrb brz, which appears stock to the average joe.

NWFRS 08-26-2014 12:21 AM

Nope.

Asphalt is invisible. :-)

VacantSky 08-26-2014 12:24 AM

Had the car for a year and a couple months now, never fails to attract attention. But then it is firestorm red with gold Enkei RPF1's. No funny stories really, just a lot of thumbs up and compliments. And then there's the cops, they like to stare me down

shiumai 08-26-2014 12:56 AM

i really have no idea nowadays - i'm usually concentrating on the road when i'm driving (and looking out for fellow twin owners to give a thumbs up to), and don't really look around much when i'm stopped; other than at the lights.

extrashaky 08-26-2014 02:08 AM

Yep. Still not that many of them in my area, so a lot of folks have no idea what it is.

I have the Lightning Red BRZ with Tom's tails, clear side markers and 40% tint all around, but otherwise it's stock. I went through the drive thru at Raising Cane's (a chicken place) in Alexandria, LA last week, and the girl at the window said, "Hey, what kind of car is that?" After the usual exchange, she turned around to a guy who was working in there and said, "Come check out this car!"

The guy came to the window, looked it over from front to rear and said, "That's fuckin' dope."

The girl gasped, smacked him on the arm and said, "You can't say that in front of a customer! You're gonna get me in trouble!"

I LOL'd and reassured her that I would not complain.

JohnJuan 08-26-2014 02:14 AM

Yes. I still catch people staring when I'm out and about. I love it.

wrxgoose 08-26-2014 02:23 AM

yes, but i think it's more because of my exhaust tone

Cope52 08-26-2014 02:24 AM

After 6 weeks...

A guy in a C6 circles my car twice and says to me "I didn't know Subaru made a sporting car"

A guy in a old Alfa Spider was on my ass for 15 miles straight.

A woman at the BK drive thru went gaga over the thing and was shocked to learn it was only 26 grand.

A guy in a red 993 gave it a long stare as he was backing out of a minimart.

And half a dozen people that asked "is it fast?" are then are floored to learn it isn't.

humfrz 08-26-2014 02:25 AM

Yep, still turns heads, especially when they see a 71 year old man crawl out of it ......:eyebulge:

DavidBob 08-26-2014 02:46 AM

It does turn heads, I have my share fair of funny stories and nice interactions with people but I'm pretty sure we can all agree there is nothing better than seeing other 86 owners on the road :) Most of them are really enthusiastic and cool and will give a thumbs up, flash of their lights, a rev, or occasionally try to give you a high five at stop lights

m.box.design 08-26-2014 02:48 AM

A highschool kid on a bike gave me a big thumbs up and pointed at my car while 'saying' "I LOVE YOUR CAR", totally read his lips. :D

A fellow in his late 40s/early 50s was crossing the crosswalk in front of me and told me he was going to get "one of those"

FRSfan111 08-26-2014 03:20 AM

Everyday. But I also have a diffusor and a splitter, because trackcar lol

alan.chalkley 08-26-2014 03:55 AM

After 15 months i still put a cover over it , to avoid attention.

Autocon 08-26-2014 05:21 AM

Yup, rubber necks a lot of people ha. And if I have my windows down at like a stop light I will get the occasional "cool car!" or random person wanting to talk about it when I get out of it.

Even more so after I plasti dipped my wheels red and installed my exhaust.

dnieves 08-26-2014 06:43 AM

My stock 10 Series still gets stares, last month while stuck in traffic near Times Square a pedestrian took a picture of it (weird).

Tcoat 08-26-2014 09:32 AM

This weekend I was driving around a small town car show trying to find a place to park to take a quick look at all the cars. When I came to the barricade at the end of the street where the cars were parked the guy opened it up and waved me in.
Parked the car, registered and opened the hood. Didn't expect a lot of interest as there were over 100 VERY nice cars there.
BOY WAS I WRONG! After about two hours had no voice left as I talked to so many people. Was fun watching some of them try to figure out what it was!
Best was the guy that went on to his buddies about how it was the "new Porsche Scorpion model (Scion is apparently now German for scorpion according to him)" and it puts out 600 horse and cost $140,000! He went on like that for 5 minutes even though the hood was open and it clearly says Toyota/Subaru right on the intake cover!
So ...ya it still turns heads especially in areas where it is still relatively rare (I have only seen two others on the road in the month I have had it)

He was trying to pass you, bro! ;)

Mine still gets a good bit of attention. The new guy at Starbucks raves about it every.single.time I go through the drive through and thought it was as expensive as a Corvette that went through ahead of me the other day.

Dude, you are driving in the wrong places then!
Get women of all ages yell "nice car" at me all the time. Mind you they usually follow that up with "I looooove the colour" which means it could be a 10 year old minivan for all they care as long as it is a pretty colour.

I had a cop pull me over...lean in the driver's window and say "hm. they're making these Scions NICE now! Keep it under a hundred. Have a good day" and walk back to his cruiser.

No bullshit.

Is that a deflector above the window? If so where did you get it from?

ebay. But get the one without clips. Just 3m tape

xRavenFRSx 08-26-2014 12:09 PM

My car turns heads like its a Ferrari, people take pictures of it and ask to look inside almost daily. But then again a few people have asked me if it was an LFA so you could say the people in my area aren't the most knowledgeable about cars. I don't know if I should be proud that's its being mistaken for an exotic, or offended thats the only reason it gets attention.

Target70 08-26-2014 03:57 PM

I didn't buy it to turn heads, but to turn corners.. however I have had a number of people compliment it and ask about the aftermarket racing seats I had(stock seats)

Kids Heart 08-26-2014 04:08 PM

I still get "Is that a ...?"

octavio.molina.1985 08-26-2014 04:09 PM

I like ! I'll repost in a few weeks, waiting for a few other goods lol

I get a lot of teenage boys yelling at me asking me if that car was in Transformers 6.

Dezoris 08-26-2014 04:17 PM

Actually a story about this car. My GF/Ex GF wanted to have sex in multiple cars.

She first brought it up about doing it in Exige, I was like no fucking way its too small.
Then Veloster, then S2000 and a few others, but when I got this car she showed no interest. Not sure if it was cause I shut her down before or because the FRS made her limp.
