Fort St. George, Dim Sum King and Thai Curry Simple in the international district for fudz.
+1 for Shiro's.

After Auburn take Rainier Avenue up the west side of Lake Washington from Renton.
Turn onto Seward Park Ave., Lake Washington Blvd. past Leshi to Denny Park (Kurt Cobain house) then up the hill from there to Madison Ave. Go up that to 15th then north on there to the cemetery (Bruce and Brandon).

If you like parks - Seward Park (on Lk W. blvd), Gasworks on Lake Union, Kinnear Park on Queen Anne Hill for a view over downtown.

Museum of Flight at Boeing Field, Museum of History and Industry is all new this year (South Lk Union)

Ferry Info: WSDOT - Ferries
Get there an hour early. Really.

Limerick 08-19-2014 05:33 PM

SIGHTS:

Pikes (make sure to hit the Piroshki place!)
Space Needle, if you've never been.

EMP is pretty cool too if it's your first time.

Sculpture park is great for photos. Great background for our cars ;)

FOOD:

Tom Douglas has some restaurants in Seattle. All have different themes and I haven't eaten at one I didn't like. My favorite is Etta's (seafood themed).

For dim sum, my favorite is Jade Garden near Uwajimaya. Also by there is Oasis bubble tea if you like that.

Touge_ninja 08-19-2014 06:10 PM

Also be sure to do the dozen egg omelet at beths cafe

ichitaka05 08-19-2014 09:57 PM

Awesome!!! I gonna go home fat & happy lol

Keep coming w all the info.

For brunch I highly recommend the Local 360. It's a farm to table restaurant just a few blocks north of Pikes Place. Usually there is 4 hour parking open around it, free on Sundays.

For dinner, I like Anchovies and Olives, a hip place east of downtown, but easily accessible or Al Bocallino, an impressive Italian place near the waterfront and ferry terminal.

If you're in downtown seattle on the weekend, parking isn't too bad if you get in before 11 and there's not a soccer or baseball game. Good luck!

Touge_ninja 08-19-2014 11:10 PM

Also let us know we might be able to have a bbq if enough people sign up

Thanks for the info. We should be arriving in WA Sunday afternoon. We're planning to say around Federal Way & we were thinking to head up to Friday Harbor to visit friend on Monday & come back down on 2nd or 3rd. After that, we're pretty much wing it through lol

Ferry

If you're going to use one of the WA State Ferries (i.e., take on a car), check to see if you can make a reservation. The end of summer (incl. Labor Day Weekend) is going to be horrendously busy. If no reservations are available, you could be in a situation where you have to wait HOURS to get a spot on a ferry (w/vehicle). (Walk-on shouldn't be an issue...).

Should be a great weekend to visit the greater Seattle area! Enjoy!

When I was up there for an Amazon interview, I went to some sushi place near the stadium downtown. I don't remember what it was called, but I found it on Yelp! and it the food was superb. Just as a comparison, I used to live in Okinawa, so I compared it to that. I'll see if I can find the name again, but they also had a somewhat hard-to-find beer from Okinawa that goes great with the sushi.

Just FYI Okinawa don't have real sushi. They have tropical fish sushi. How do I know this? Cuz I'm half Okinawan, so I have right to say that lol

But prob Shiro sushi every here is saying ;)

lol, well it's good regardless. Though it's been about 14 years...

bcj 08-21-2014 07:38 PM

Should probably tell you to check out the Uajimaya store for all the JDMAF edibles, conveniences and sake.

Another thought is Ivars Salmon House on the north side of Lake Union under the I-5 bridge.
Seattle legend, landmark and chowder. Alder cooked Salmon. Get some.

ichitaka05 08-21-2014 10:14 PM

Thanks :)

Man, I gonna go home fat & broke... but no regrets lol

motosteveo 08-21-2014 11:58 PM

Paseo is a wonderful place to go for a killer sandwich (I'm all about the pulled pork)

I also love Rumba if you are in the Capitol Hill area (Mojitos! Need I say more?)

As far as things to do, I agree with the Olympic Sculpture Park mentioned earlier and want to suggest Woodland Park Zoo and the locks/botanical gardens in Ballard as well.

Yeah, I've put Olympic Sculpture Park on our list... & I'll make sure to put other one in our list too :)

It's very beautiful on a nice day. My girlfriend and I just went to Friday Harbor at the end of July. I took my BRZ, I think the ferry was around $75, but it covers there and back. Make sure to take your car exploring around the Island, there are lots of good twisty roads and the scenery is beautiful.

These are very good infos! I'm excited bout the trip!!
