The screen refreshes like it's 1995, touch screen sensitivity with gloves is terrible also

I drive in cold weather quite a bit, -24f yesterday, a much better 0f today. I have had no issues with the screen fading. Buttons on panel do not work with gloves.

They changed the unit for 2014. Iv had both units and the new one (2014) is by far way better. In looks and to use

also its pressure based touch screen = no issues with gloves
I'd suggest looking for 2014 or newer units

I have a 2014 HU that I don't mind parting off with. However, it doesn't come with GPS since I replaced the HU a week after getting the car with an aftermarket kenwood + gps so it's basically mint.

Maybe I get more info about your setup? I will be in the market to change my ghetto ass head unit again, would love to see fellow owners and their aftermarket head units.

To give some perspective from "the other half" (BRZ owners), I will be changing mine eventually too.

The Pioneer unit they put in the BRZ from the factory is a complete piece of shit. I used to love Pioneer but they have seriously slipped if this is the type of garbage they are putting out now.

The analog buttons are so small you can barely hit them while driving without completely taking your eyes off the road, the touch-screen lags like it was made in 2001 and the buttons ON the screen are also laughably small, and the volume knob? better get out your magnifying glass. Kudos to you if you can manage to change the volume with gloves on, even while stopped, without slipping and hitting a button you did not have any intention of hitting.

It is still a better offering than the 2013 FR-S units or the 2013 USDM BRZ models. Everything after was better though. :/
