1 Attachment(s)
after a service today at my local toyota dealer i found this on my driver side door.any one ever seen this befor ??
Yikes
OH NO!!! 8lbs!!!
WTF is this sticker about? Did you get new tires or something? |
If its only 8lbs then the sticker should instead say
"All occupants of this vehicle must defecate before entering." |
Wtf is that shit?
You should ask them about it. Ive never even heard of ANYTHING like that. What mods do you have? |
I wouldn't think they would place an official sicker on based on mods you've done. They wouldn't have a way to test them to determine unless you used only TRD parts that they haave their own data for.
Looks more like a TSB type item or real talk, a CYA item. Probably found out later that their original recommended weights were slightly off and this is the fix for it. |
I have one too! Except mine says 0 kg/0 lbs. I had my last free oil change last weekend. I was wondering why I didn't remember ever seeing that sticker. Wonder why you have reduced load capacity? I have no suspension mods, only little mods like mudflaps/hids/tint/etc.
Could be they (toyota) made a mistake on the original loading sticker. This is their way of correcting it. USA is a litigious market- they'll not risk a lawsuit because the plated weight was wrong- doesn't matter that 8kg wouldn't actually make any difference.
it has rsr coilovers, 1.5 front and back but for them to add that and not tell me is sort of not cool and from what i can remember it was not there the day i purchased it..
i have no mods and I have the same sticker.
Please call the dealer and ask them what it is and why they put it there. Then post their response here for the edification of the rest of us.
Your dealer doesn't have access to those stickers, those are installed at the port for any accessories (spoiler, fog, etc.). Not something to worry about.
I remember like 2 years ago this was happening a lot due to some TSB or correction to the factory sticker or something. No big deal.
I had one of those stickers put on my cat when my trd exhaust was installed.
Im an engineer at Toyota, so I can confirm: as mentioned, this sticker goes with any TLS port installed accessories. Nothing to worry about.
I've got one. Came that way after options are installed. No big deal.
I also have this sticker.
I'm think that I have that same sticker in my door jamb, but I'm pretty sure it says 0 instead of 8.
edit: just checked, and yep - mine says 0 and 0 (whoops miss-read the sticker) |
It's a subtle hint from the dealer saying you need to lose some weight
Ha, I just went and checked, mine has it as well and I've never even paid attention. I'm at 4kg or 9lb.

Just looked at mines & it said 11 pounds! Got a spoiler & foglights from the dealership.
Sounds like it is the weight of any options installed.

I have the sticker also, says 2 kg. No idea when it was added.
I looked and found one of those stickers on my car today. It says 3 pounds in capacity reduction. I bought the car new in June.
The car came with a Borla muffler instead of OEM, so maybe that is it. But the Borla, according to what found in a little bit of online research, should be about two pounds lighter than the OEM muffler. So shouldn't the sticker say the car's carrying capacity was increased? |

Probably has something to do with tire rating, weather effects, or like that.
4 pounds added for the trunk mat here. Sticker on when car was purchased new. Notice that the VIN is printed on the sticker. Looked at the option list and knew what it was for, dealer didn't have a clue.
Don't know if these are on all new cars but I know it's very easy to 'overload' small sports cars. I 'overload' my MX-5 whenever I take one of my overweight friends along for a ride. Probably means nothing except in a civil suit after an accident. Lawyers will point that out when accusing you of driving a dangerously 'overloaded' car. |
