Android vs iOS vs BB os...which is best?

I thought i would start this thread since it is a hot topic...when comparing operating system's for phones please compare user friendliness, security, function, appearance etc...also if someone can declare the safest os to use for protecting personal information and privacy that would be much appreciated and feel free to compare phones!

Im on Android but i've never owned an iphone or blackberry, so i cant speak on those. I know i use this app called lookout that backs up my phone and scans apps as i download them and checks for viruses and i can locate my phone if lost or stolen form the website or turn up the volume and make it ring even if its on silent. How protected i am....not sure i know i can control everything on my end of the phone but to use alot of the apps you need the GPS on and other things. Plus you just need to be careful about downloading apps not on the official market and look at what the apps your downloading wants access to. Some want a lot of access to things that seam like it would have no business looking at.

this is my second Iphone my problem with the Iphone is AT&T other than that I love it since jailbreaking is legal now made it much better, I have this MYWI app I can make my iphone as a hot spot (i know android's evo has it) I dont need to pay extra $15 a month to at&t just to have tethering. but I wont get the new Iphone 4g ill wait for the 4gs next year, too many bugs to fix and controversial problems.

C-Bone 08-25-2010 10:46 PM

i have a droid, its ok but been causing me problems lately and im out of a phone till i get another shipped hopefully by the end of the week. when its running good i love it but my friend has the iphone and its pretty awsome. also dont know about at&t, their service isnt that great in my opinion but if you can wait verizon is prob gonna get the iphone soon; ive heard possibly when they get 4G. But just what i've heard...

C-Bone 08-25-2010 10:48 PM

oh and if you decide droid, i'd go with droid 2 if you like the slide up keyboard and if not (i rarely use it) go with the incredible or the x

I'm looking to get a phone either the iphone 4 or something that has the same specs...hi res screen, secondary camera(videocalling), hd video capabilities and nice 3.5 inch form factor and very secure in terms of security...i can't think of anything better then the iphone 4 but although i like the quality i find that it feels rigid in your hands so I'm going to wait it out and see, i think that's the best option.

The samsung wave is pretty impressive for the price of $250.00 cdn all it needs is android ported on to it instead of it running the bada os by samsung which is nowhere close to iOS and android in terms of development.

Blackberry - I am currently a BB user. I've owned a Storm 1 (9530) for the past almost 2-years. And my sister has been a BB user for the past 6 years. She's the one that convinced me to join the BB family. BBs have solid secruity which is why they were considered the number 1 business worthy smartphone on the market for several years. But, to be honest, I can hardly wait to get rid of this thing.

Most current/older BBs are running OS4 or OS5 (I'm running 5) and there are only 2-3 BBs that can run OS6. I've played with OS6 for a bit and while it feels better than the previous ones, it wasn't enough to wow me. In short, OS6 still feels like it's 3 years behind the competition... and it's RIM's latest release. How sad is that?!

Only things BlackBerry has over other smartphones are, security and BBM... but that is truely it. Notice how BlackBerry commercials only talk about BBM? That's because RIM doesn't have any other advantage these days and they know it. BBs feel slow and prehistoric in every other aspect. And I'm sure the competition will catch up in the security department soon enough. It's just a matter of time.

Android - I haven't played with many Android devices yet, but the few I've used felt great. The OS was much more responsive and felt modern/current... especially when compared to the prehistoric OS's available on BB. I really like the Droid X, and want to make it my next phone. My room mate and his g/f both had Android phones (forget the exact models), one was a Samsung and the other an HTC. They let me try both, and I really liked them.

Can't talk about security and whatsnot since I haven't used any Android device for an extended period of time.

iPhone - Really nice phones. Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of Apple's interfaces... or AT&T for that matter. And yes, there have been several rumors circling the web that Verizon will be getting the iPhone as early as next year. "When" within the year has been said to be as early as 1st quarter, but some sites suggest it won't be until closer to 3rd quarter.

Once again, great device... hate the network it's on. If the next gen iPhone shows up (iPhone 4G or iPhone 5) on Verizon or even Sprint, I'm in! Until then, no thanks.

iPhone 4's drop call issue is still there for most people, even with the free cases Apple has been given out. I have 5 friends with iPhone 4s and they always have problems. I hate calling them.

Sorry for the super post, was just trying to be thorough. :P

Saw this article and remember this thread. Just wanted to share.

Five Ways RIM Can Save the Blackberry

I agree with most of what the writer is saying in the article too.

Matador 09-07-2010 03:28 PM

ROFLMAO @ the assholes who think that the Blackberry needs saving.

So I'm an asshole for being displeased with my BB experience and wanting to see the company make strides in a positive direction?

Where is Linux based Nokia Maemo 5? Up-coming Meego join the game in Nokia's flagship phone later this year too.

I have an Iphone 3G....The phone has been good up until I did the latest update. Now it freezes on me, apps don't start up, and the phone just seems slower. It really frustrates me.

My best friend had a 3G also and moved up to the Iphone4 just a month ago. Now he's selling it on EBAY. He says that it's garbage and the phone has been giving him problems. He also said that the Facetime doesn't work that good. Overall he just really disappointed with it. Kind in mind that he is a graphic designer and has Apple everything. He's actually moving over to an Android phone.

As for me, today I'm going to be getting a Samsung Captivate. Having messed around with the phone a bit I'm pretty excited. Even though it is bigger than my current 3G, it's actually slimmer and feels pretty light. Not to mention the GORGEOUS screen either. As far as AT&T, I live in Miami and I get pretty good coverage pretty much anywhere I go in Florida so I can't complain. In getting the Captivate I'm going to extend my contract another 2 years which means I get to keep my unlimited data plan. Which AT&T doesn't offer anymore.

No, not you, but keep it up and I'll shovel you into that group along with the guys who wrote the article.

Blackberry smart phones are not toys, and I have yet to meet a business user who is unsatisfied with their user experience.

Shovel away! I can only speak based off my experience with the device, and if it was poor, that's my opinion. And yes, I use the phone for business.

The email delivery has been really slow within the last few months. Most of the time it's good, but sometimes I won't receive email notifications until hours after they were initially sent or, in other cases, hours after I've already checked for them on a PC. If it was a once in a blue moon kind of thing, I wouldn't mind. But it's been happening too often and more frequently. I've returned the phone, I've ran updates, etc. Phone still has the same problem. And maybe it's just the crappy Storm 1, but in either case, this is all a part of my disappointing experience with the device.

Also, the battery pulls get worse as the days roll by. And I know this isn't just limited to me. My father received a Curve 8520 as a company phone just back in February. Thankfully, he hasn't experienced any problems like I have, but he says there are times when he has to do battery pulls a few times a day and it drives him crazy. There have been days where I had to do pulls almost every hour, and sometimes every 30 minutes or else the screen would become unusable -- but to be fair, I found that this seemed to be limited to Storm users for the most part.

My sister has a Curve 8530, my girlfriend has a Bold 9000, and my ex just got a Bold 9700. I can't speak for the 9700 since she just got it, but the other two have experienced the frequent freezes and daily battery pulls too. But the 9000 seems to be a pretty solid phone. Sometimes I wish I got that instead.

I picked the Storm because of the larger screen. This made/makes it easier to view images and PDFs. So it's kind of hard to imagine moving to a smaller screened device. If the Torch or Storm 3 end up on the Verizon network, then I might look into them more closely.

 So, once again, shovel away if it makes you feel better.

i had a iphone3g which was a awesoeme phone but had a shitty camera.. so i sold it and got a i9810 (samsung HD) cus it had a better camera. then i sold the OS (s60) was complety pile of shit. i missed the iphone so i got the iphone4 now :) i have iOS4.0.1 jailborken and it is awesome. i have absolutly no complaints now, have the phone since the 1st day it came out in Australia, since here the phone is available on more than just one shitty network i have had a good experience so far.
as for the antena glitch, i have to admit i did notice it once, but my hands were clammy.. usually they arent and this wasnt a problem. however i only noticed it since i was trying to show my friends the problem.. i used the bumper case that came free and then bought a whole array of cases of ebay :)

friend has a samsung galaxy s (android) and it is, arguably, the best android device out on the market. i played with it and its fast and smooth. what made me laugh is that its GUI is exactly the same as the iOS GUI.. why they copied this i have no idea.. i woulnt take android over ios, iphones dont have expendable memory nor do they have the ability to be used as flash drives, and they dont have interconective bluetooth.. but they are so easy to use and there are heaps of apps on both android an ios so its really up to you
