Why did I just watch that? Horrible video, horrible idea. Look, people aren't going to buy that stuff because it's being shoved in their faces along with rappers and images of paint. No, they'll buy the gear because of the OMFG-awesomesauce-driving being done by the guy promoting the gear... which isn't what's happening in this video at all.

I knew bout this vid for long time... I didn't want to post it (here even though it's dying here) cuz it's ridiculously lame vid!

It's still a part 1... so I'm guessing there gonna be part 2. I'm praying that Ken Block gonna say "F'ck u Ford, I'm going back to Subaru!" and buy 2011 STI (Sedan) and make hella awesome Gymkhana 4 or part 2 or whatever.

There is suppose to be a part 2 and 3. Hopefully he can salvage something in those videos. This one really is horrible. I've never really understood how this is actual gymkhana? I've seen videos of gymkhana meets and they usually take place in a small parking lot with people going up against each other on a very small and technical course not getting above 40 mph.

And (most importantly) you're supposed to do the course on a single run. Block's previous vids were several runs compiled together. While entertaining, those vids lost points in my book in regards to being true gymkhana.

part 1 is supposed to be the marketing segment, they wanted to keep the product placement out of the other parts so they put it all in the 1st, it says in the video that its a commercial...but still

First off the win of the original will forever overshadow the fail of this most recent vid. This one is in fact simply an ad for shoes.

However about those shoes...

A little (not 100% accurate but the basics are there) history lesson. Mr. Block technically 'sold-out' long ago. He is actually the founder of DC shoes. He sold to Quicksilver for many millions of dollars and was kept on in some form of sponsorship/marketing advisory role. When his buddy Pastrana started rallying, Ken thought 'Gee, that looks awesome. How can I try that?' So he offered Pastrana's team a DC shoes sponsorship deal if they let him drive a car. (This is somewhat common in racing, a 'gentleman racer' basically buys a seat on a team.)

Ken loved driving rally cars. And was actually fast in them so the team kept him. And then the Gymkhana vid came out. :bow:

You see Ken Block isn't a rally driver promoting shoes. He is a fashion designer that used the money he made to start rallying in his middle age. This gives hope to me, that after I've been in a career for years I too may one day become a WRC driver.

That is why he is the Man. (Regardless of how poorly he is doing in WRC lately...)
