Do you like the Twin's exterior door-pulls?

I was struck by how elegant our exterior door-pulls were the other day. I wasn't drunk. It's just amazing when you think about it, how important a door-pull is. I'm always annoyed by the flimsiness of recessed door-pulls, and I really admire Toyota and Subaru for not trying to hide them. I'm impressed with how solid they feel as well, considering they're made of plastic, coming strait out each time with no twisting or flexing or strange noises. I'm also impressed with how well they hide in plain sight and don't really harm the lines of the body.

The only other door-pulls that I really liked were on old cars where a pull was attached to the door and you had to push a button with your thumb.

My most hated door pulls from previous cars in order of hate:
'71 Pontiac Firebird
'92 Saturn SC2
'92 Toyota MR2

What are some of YOUR most hated door-pulls?

Never thought about it. Thought they were borrowed from honda

Never in my life had I heard someone call them door pulls instead of door handles.

Burrcold 08-04-2014 11:14 PM

Wtf?!

+1 I'm not sure what made me come to this thread. I've also never evaluated or cared to pay attention to them? Lol

Nevermore 08-04-2014 11:43 PM

They are springy as hell too. If you let them go at full pull they snap back with a solid hit.

97 Pontiac Sunfire GT. First new car, but, still hated the door handles. Not body coloured and felt cheap.

Chattanooga FR-S 08-05-2014 10:44 AM

I've never owned one of these, but I always thought the 2008-2012 Honda Accord door handles looked like they were upside down...

I love the way the handles feel in my hand. Very solid, unlike my 2000 Prelude.

WhiteFRS69 08-05-2014 10:49 AM

i was impressed with how sturdy the window was when you opened the door, without the frame going around the window

one of my previous cars when you opened the door the window always felt like it was going to fall out

but that was also on a 99 plymouth Neon

I like them, but you really need the door protectorant clear vinyl behind it, espec on the passenger side where people don't pay attention to their hands. look at a car that has these types of door handles that's a little older, 50,000 scratches, ugly. otherwise, yes I like them

My understanding has always been that door handles are on the inside of the vehicle and used to open the door from the inside. Door pulls are on the outside of the vehicle and used to get into the vehicle.

I still get freaked out a bit every time I open or close the door and the window does the auto up down thing!
Far to many cars I had that noise would have meant an hour or so of fishing the window back up onto the mech.

If we could get these kind of door handles/pulls(lol) on an 86, man I'd probably lose a lot of interest in the Model S.

Now speaking of door handles, I'm not sure why it matters what kind of door handles a car comes with, as long as they don't cut your fingers off and do their job, it shouldn't matter.
You didn't buy a car because of the door handles. haha. Wait, or did you? :confused0068:

Complementing a cars door handles is like going up to a girl and telling her she has some sexy ass elbows

I've never seen an ass elbow, but I am pretty sure it couldn't be sexy.

Yes! Punctuation, people! It's important! Hahaha.

Such as when writing a sassy email to the dealer about how you hate black cars. Forgetting to include the requisite comma, you get:

"I don't like black people!"

Don't be like that.

And THAT'S why grammar and written-word-police exists.

it's its too to their there

you're still drunk.

Target70 08-05-2014 05:39 PM

i really dislike the nissan 350-z handles just on looks.
especially on a non-silver car.

Shagaliscious 08-05-2014 06:12 PM

I'm just happy they are the kind that you can grab from the top or bottom. I HATE the door pulls that you can only grab from the bottom.

Tcoat 08-05-2014 06:46 PM

These were always fun with your hands full! They also had a tendency to freeze solid with the smallest amount of snow.

My mom has a 650i and for how expensive it is I'm surprised how cheap and plasticy the door *handles* feel. It feels like I'm going to rip them off when ever I get in.

Couldn't find a picture the describes it tho

noobcake 08-07-2014 06:53 PM

my moms 3 series has some nice door handles, it feels smooth when you pull them and at night they light up underneath.

I think the silver ones on the 350Z, 370Z, and last gen Eclipse look and feel flimsy.
