Design sketch for our Summer 2014 86DRIVE T-Shirt!

http://86drive.com/wp-content/upload...05-199x300.jpg
If you’re a regular to our meets and DRIVES you’ve probably seen some of our loyal members sporting the spiffy 86DRIVE t-shirts — these were available in limited quantities in summer and fall 2013. To commemorate our second summer of fun and friendly DRIVES, we’re going to do another run of shirts, with a new and unique design. I started sketching this idea I had last weekend, and while it’s still a little rough I think it’s good enough to get the idea across.

So here is my new design idea:
http://86drive.com/wp-content/upload...f-1024x470.jpg

What do you think? It carries on the 3-cars theme from the 86DRIVE logo, with 3 cars in front profile view, doing the 3 things we love to do most: Street (aka canyon carving), Track day (aka time attack), and AutoX (aka dodging cones). As you probably know, 86DRIVE’s main passion is about DRIVING, not standing around having meets in parking lots and looking under each others hoods (although we certainly do spend a good amount of time doing that too!). So I think this logo helps capture that and express, in 3 simple images, what we are about. My thinking is that this design might go on the front or back of the t-shirt, and then the traditional 3-cars logo design will be on the other side.

I would appreciate any feedback you might have, let me know your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, offers to help re-draw it even better, I want to hear it all!
Thanks,
-PMok

I like it as is. The kinda quick skwtch look is cool. If it is re-drawn better I think it isnt as fun as its meant to be.

Very cool P!

doggieboy09 08-02-2014 03:27 PM

The drawing is really fun and cute. Maybe it can be refined as a "chibi" style that still shows the major details of the 86 twins.

PMok 09-09-2014 01:55 AM

another revision... there was a suggestion to take out the cars and just have the backgrounds on the shirt. This makes it a little more universal and perhaps will help broaden the appeal to all car/driving enthusiasts.

Let me know if you'd be interested in seeing this go into production as a shirt.

MyRx 09-09-2014 02:08 AM

^^^ put me down for 2 shirts.

RC51ed 09-09-2014 03:09 AM

^^^in for 2 also

finch1750 09-09-2014 05:45 AM

I like it a lot better with the cars, but you know I will buy two either way. lol

BigFatFlip 09-09-2014 11:33 AM

I like it with the cars better also, but like everybody else, will probably get either. Put me down for 2...X lol (why is everyone getting 2 shirts anyways?)

Clipdat 09-09-2014 12:08 PM

I like it better with the cartoon cars.

Votes for chibi style !!

With a V-neck ;)

denkigrve 09-11-2014 10:36 AM

I love the idea of the three takes on fun. I also like the three chibi front views as well.

I second V neck , deep V neck indeed

omegared19 09-11-2014 12:47 PM

I'd like to see both regular and maybe V-neck for the girls. But I do like the squares too. Maybe do that one as a window sticker

PMok 09-11-2014 02:06 PM

I really appreciate the input guys.

I'll see what I can do, but to be honest since I had to look up what chibi means and I have no formal design training I don't know if I will be capable of redrawing the cars that way haha.

MyRx 09-11-2014 02:59 PM

If your taking requests, can I see about a long sleeve?? Winter is coming haha lol

the details are subtle, but the one in the middle is a BRZ (since it's the BRZs that kick ass in Solo2! haha) and that's in keeping with the 86DRIVE 3 cars logo. If people really want it, I can "race" up the track car again like with the original sketch.

omegared19 09-12-2014 07:43 PM

Or the street and track design boxes with a train of 86's or our drives

ok guys, here is the final design I came up with:

http://86drive.com/wp-content/upload...al-mini-wm.jpg
(the blue watermarks will not appear on the actual design/product)

Here’s a mockup of the shirts– the actual product may differ slightly but the design will look like this. White shirt with black print.

http://86drive.com/wp-content/upload...ns-T-Shirt.png

If you are interested in ordering a shirt please visit the 86DRIVE site. They will be available only for a limited time and in limited quantities.

Looks good, however how are these gonna hold up in the wash? I purchased a shirt a while back and after the first wash the logo started to peel off so i had to toss it.

Rosaki 09-18-2014 12:46 AM

Awesome Job!! I love the shirt! Question: Will it come in anything other than white? =)

Ill be ordering one anyway!

brz408 09-18-2014 01:56 AM

Looks dope! Hopefully there will be black and blue options so I can pick up a couple at one of the next meet/drives.

I know what you mean, unfortunately I've seen some short-lived shirts too. But I have another shirt that was made by the shop that I'm planning to use, and that shirt has held up really well to multiple washes so I expect this one will do well too.

Thanks guys! for the moment it will be only available in white in order to keep things simple and for best pricing. Other colors (and styles) may be available down the road, but at considerably higher prices unfortunately since I think the volume will be lower. BTW I won't be making too many extras beyond what people preorder, so you should place an order if you want one.

:thanks:

MyRx 09-18-2014 01:01 PM

Where's the "I love it" button???

And that's why I get 2 shirts - one to use and one to not-use. My closest has too many black shirts as it is so a white version is more than welcome.

I found the other key is to wash it inside out. My shirt (as well as others) have held up considerably better since I began doing that. But the other shirts made by these guys are god quality so like Plato said shouldn't be an issue either way.

86FRESH 09-21-2014 04:14 PM

I wan to put in an order

PMok 09-25-2014 01:34 AM

bump, one week left to order a shirt if you want one. Deadline is Oct. 1. The plan is to have them produced and ready by the 86DRIVE EOS meet on Oct 18.

If you'd like to pay me in person to reserve one instead of via Paypal, I'll be at the East Bay meet tomorrow night.
