Has any1 had eibach prokit lowering springs fitted in jozi?
I think the drop is 25mm front 20mm rear per the website. anyone know who stocks these springs in jozi?:search: |

That being said, saw a track test of RGM's SC 86 with Eibach springs on Supersport - they said it pretty much ruined the handling and character of the chassis. |
mmmm now thats a tough choice.. the car is so much fun standard.. wish that gap was less!
|
My advice is to just wait a bit, and see if you feel the same in a few months time...
I was also very gung-ho to do lowering springs, and I'm so glad that I didn't. I've learnt to live with the wheel gap, and I realise that even 1" lower would be a PITA with speedbumps, driveways, etc. IMO, the stock suspension is amazing. I frequently track my car, and I won't be changing anything. sav's right about RGM's 86. They put in Eibach springs and tested it at Midvaal where it performed very poorly (I was told this by Rob and the guys at Midvaal on seperate occasions). I think that they've since got it sorted out because when I last saw their car at Zwartkops in May, it seemed to be handling fine. Dunno if they went back to stock suspension though. |
I've got them on my car and think they are great, it is a bit harder for sure but not hugely, really tightens up everything, handles superbly and doesnt feel out of balance at all. Of course it improves the look hugely as well. Have to reverse out my driveway now but normal speedbumps are OK. I found the review on Supersport absolutely bizarre and absolutely nothing like my own experience FWIW. It was also a very strange track test, I thought he was going to stall going round one of the corners he was going so slow :) The ride might be a bit stiff for "normal road users" whatever they are... Rob reckons part of the problem was the Bridgestone tyres that they had just put on their car. Have another chat with Rob, seems the reviewer didn't want to give the car back, but then gave it a strange review.

ps. i am also running the pro kit, and if anything the car slides much easier and is 10 times more stable |
What lap times did RMS do?
Agree 100% with your comments on the pro kit |

Not certain about the lap times but they had some race driver drive there 86 |

RGM now running coil Bilstein overs. Wonder old school, chop half a turn of std. springs would do? |

Stig asking to drive the RMS car for the second time over the Caterham also answers that. Just saying. |
There's lots of factors obviously, but it did seem a bid odd that the one car I had doubts about was the one that crashed. And I've been to many track days at Zwartkops and nobody has ever crashed
And as for the Stig, that's kinda my point, do you need to be a full time professional racing driver to drive it? |

Whaaaaaat?, when did they crash, photos? |

Photos are out dated here is a vid :) [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oOCzomIX-M"]RMS Supercharged GT86 CRASH - Zwartkops - YouTube[/ame] [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_63m5ZUhXo"]Zwartkops 20140525 Toyota twincam club track day RMS Supercharged 86 crash - YouTube[/ame] He said it was driver error and he didn't do a warm up lap after the car was standing still for a while, so the tires were cold. But I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone . |

Was Rob not happy with the Bilstein kit or were they not happy with the settings? Coilovers are not exactly plug & play, it takes time to set them up properly. |

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry: and those tires are wide hey, looks like it just lost traction. sorry guys:cry::cry::cry::cry:, and adding a turbo to the mix does not help, think you need to opt for full slicks next time round................. |
i have a set of ISC coilovers brand new in the box...... pro kit, so it has adjustable camber plates and everything, ready to go. not going to use them.
