Get out of the sports car business until you learn to drive...and by drive I mean pay attention to what you're doing. You need a Yaris or something, maybe an xB.

quasimoto 07-31-2014 05:13 AM

Do you have pics of the damage? Coulda asked the forums for suggestions before deciding to file a claim.

You must be young. I like how young people think they can afford these types of cars but neglect to think about insurance premiums. I was like that too once. You get wiser when you got get older. I'm 29 and I pay $87 a month for my wrx with full coverage and all the extra road side assistance and all that other crap I don't use but it's nice to have. I'm with USAA.

Any insurance company will hike your rates if they consider you a risk, especially after an accident. ESPECIALLY if you were fkn texting and driving. At least you didn't hit anyone, one of my wife's students killed a cyclist right in front of the school. Anyways...

I'm with Allstate (due to homeowners insurance needs) and both wife's car and my BRZ are around $100-110/mo, my BRZ portion was about $45/mo I believe. Before that, I was with Progressive and was paying about $30/mo.

BTW I'm 35 with a clean record.

Just call around and get quotes from the major brands; from them I've consistently seen the lowest rates from Progressive and Esurance. You will need to concede the accident to get an accurate rate, because they'll find out anyways and your rates will jump. Insurance rates change based on location, demographic, car, and driving history, so ymmv.

I have USAA as well, but at 20 in Florida with clean record, full coverage and all of the other extras. Im at 195/month, BUT I did think about and understand all cost involved before buying the car.

I work with insurance...its because you're a higher risk like all the others have said. How old are you? I'm not that old, still in my early twenties but my rates are pretty low.

Anyways heres how to deal with higher premiums. Drop some coverages such as rental, road side assistance, medical payments (may also be known as PIP), or any other non-essential coverages. Keep liability, collision and other than collision (aka comprehensive). Then raise your deductible to $1000 or higher.

I hope you learned your lesson. Don't text and drive.....

Good thing it was a curb and not a person...

be more responsible when you're driving a murder device.

I'm 20 years old, have my father on the title of my car, and a clean record. I pay $120 a month with a $250 deductible. Full coverage.

Don't text and drive.

Im soo glad im 30 years old & married. A hair over $40 per month for me. Like everyone said. Call around for rate quotes, be honest, and go in and talk with an agent before you finalize. When you see the numbers in person and what each adjustment to your coverage does to your final $ amount is eye opening. I saved over $200 every six months just by meeting with my agent in person.

To me that's not bad, when I was 16 I bought a 2011 Ford Ranger sport. I paid the payments and down payment, my dad paid the insurance. Payments were 315/month, insurance was 305/month. But that was new driver, new financed car, and full coverage so understandable.
