Anyone in GTA get hit by hail yesterday?

Car was parked outside, was out for dinner. I think I got lucky, didn't notice anything when I got back.

Your car body panels should be able to survive hail unless they become large golf ball or baseball size. You may notice marks with any sized hail on rubber trim tho.

I read that Woodbine and Steeles was flooded.

There are some photos circulating online of quarter-sized hail balls on twitter/news. Going to bust out the quick detailer later today (haven't washed in a while) - all will be revealed then haha.

I got caught right when it started up on highway 7 and leslie.. Was trying to find cover for 10 minutes while the hail came down but every gas station was packed.

Didn't notice any nicks today.

I was very close to there as well...around what time did it all come down and how large did they get? I was indoors the whole time so I really have no idea.

Thanks

A little bit after 7:00PM, highway 7 was a mess due to the construction..

How large were the balls coming down?

I was at Times during that time too...outdoor parking but inside the restaurant already...I didn't notice the pictures circulating around until much later into my dinner and when I went out it was just raining...and haven't noticed any nicks/marks either...lucky I guess

My friend got caught right when it started. She said the hail was blueberry-sized.

I put my BRZ into the garage and left the Echo out..... =)

But yea, small hail shouldn't do any damage since they aren't that dense. Anything approaching a Quarter in diameter would become a problem.

I was rushing home because of the stupid hail, then I saw you doing that haha.

No hail in the west end...phew

Demandred7 07-30-2014 04:19 PM

At Square One area that night. Sounds like there wasn't any, but, back home in the Kitchener / Waterloo area, I heard there was. Good time to be on a date night with the missus.

South of Barrie and North of New Market got hail(which will leave some marks). We even did a few cars for Yonge and Steeles Ford but there metal is soft.

congee 08-06-2014 04:34 PM

I got hit with it while stuck on the 401. Got hit with ping pong sized hail/ice for about a minute or so. It pretty much shattered into pieces upon impact. It was still brutal especially after heavy rain BUT I didnt find any dents after which was great!

1Cor10:23 08-06-2014 06:43 PM

@congee I can't imagine what must have been going through your mind at the time... nuts

Yep, worst experience ever in my brz. Felt like someone was hitting pots and pans inside my car.

Jay2420 08-09-2014 05:30 PM

So....i thought i was good. Got caught during this hail down by bluffers park. Just waxed my car today and upon inspection i have approx 10-15 dents between hood/roof/trunk. Not sure which steps to take next....insurance?

Look under bright light guys.. I was at the garage the other day and noticed large amounts of dents from the hail. Cant really notice them in regular lighting outside, but once under a bright light indoors I was able to spot them everywhere.

Cliu91 08-25-2014 04:58 PM

Hailed a bit this morning. Thank God that they were only table salt sized hail.

krayzie 08-25-2014 07:15 PM

This car's body is so soft. My rear bumper where it meets up with the quarter panels have exactly the same flat spots on both sides right along the seams, as if they didn't finished smoothing out the body at the factory. All the areas on the body hiding behind the hinged areas have so many tiny un-hammered spots it's hilarious.

Find out about your insurance policy and how it relates to hail. Most insurances don't raise due to natural disasters like hail so. You can probably get it fixed for free. Go to a company like autodent (50 Doncaster Ave unit #7 thornhill) I belive it's Autodent.ca

Yes as long as you have a history of owning the car during the time of the hail.

Hail is covered under comprehensive not collision so all would be fine.
